The guys came out to inspect and gave us options and recommended a second floor unit. While it was a big financial investment we're happy with how it turned out. It ended up causing some whistling with the first floor unit, but they came out to adjust pieces, give us new vents in the walls, and make sure we were happy with the adjustments. All of their technicians were easy to work with and super courteous. They send you a text when the tech is on their way with a photo of them and a tracker which makes me feel safe if I'm ever home alone when they come. Heating and cooling is something you definitely want to get right as it impacts your everyday life!

I didn't realize until speaking with them this new style requires slightly different venting and plumbing but Anderson could oversee the whole thing. Because they handled the entire installation of my HVAC system a few years back and did a great job I knew they'd be perfect to do this install. We're loving this new system already and can't wait to see the benefits it shows over time. Once again they were great to show me my options, explain the process and provide a quick/simple install (only took a few hours-thanks Curtis!). I called them a few days later with a question unique to my situation-Joe took my call and was very helpful-just as he was years ago. Total experience went smooth and I'm confident they back up whatever they do. I highly recommend JL Anderson-you'll be happy with their work!

About a year ago we had a basement sump backup for which we called ServiceMaster Advantage of…read moreLafayette. The minor disaster required the carpet of the built-in basement be replaced. Separate crews were assigned to take out the damaged materials. ServiceMaster sent Eddie Diaz to scope the work and explain what would be done. The crew he sent about a week later, to pull out the damaged carpet, asked for entry and spent a good amount of time on the work. But it seems to be much more than assigned work that occupied their time. When they were done they departed quickly and without checking in to show me what they had done. Within a few weeks of their work, I noticed assorted items of thousands of dollars of value--ammunition, vinyl record albums from the 1960s-70s, military uniform items and insignia, CDs, electronics, and other personal property--missing from my office and the nearby closet, neither of which had any damage. I had happened to inventory many items a few weeks before their work and knew well what I had from inventory and electronic receipts, that the items were definitely gone, and that no other people had any access to the areas whence the items disappeared. I compiled a list of what I realized was missing and filed a statement with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's office a few weeks later, after checking carefully what was missing. The detective investigated the slickie boys whose names they got from ServiceMaster, but the identified boys claimed they were never at my house, and I had no solid proof they were. In the intervening months a few other items are also missing, having not been noticed among the many items in the office area until recently needed. With highly restricted access to the area, those had to disappear the same time as the other property--no other explanation makes sense. Some lessons: Even if very busy on other activities, observe the laborers closely, frequently, randomly, and fully trust none requiring entry to your premises--especially not any low-skill, part-timers who might be unable to gain more reliable employment. So they cannot lie that they never worked at your location, photograph their government issued facial ID and their vehicle--including the license plate--before allowing them entry. Unless it is untrustworthy, any competent business will be certain to have the supervisor come by that day, when the work is done, to ensure it has been performed suitably and honestly. Other contractors do so. For the money paid, the customer has every right to expect the supervisor sending the laborers to be professional and "close the loop." We have installed a security system in the meantime. The multiple cameras would have captured the boys carrying out their stolen property. I will not call upon this business again.

I was impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail shown by Servicemaster Advantage. We were experiencing problems with our AC in 2018. The unit was running far too long and the…read moresupply air was not "chilled." We called Comfort Mechanical to diagnose, and fortunately I have an engineering background and did my senior project on refrigeration systems. I knew the system was likely just low on refrigerant due to a system leak. CM's tech came out and performed the superheat/subcool diagnostics and recommended recharging. So far so good. Unfortunately I asked about performing a leak detection and the tech shrugged his shoulders. He said it wasn't needed and suggested the leak was due to an old compressor coil and that we really needed to replace it at a cost of $4000. I told him we would wait to see what happens. Fast forward to 2019 - same symptoms and we called another HVAC firm. This new firm came out, diagnosed low coolant, showed me the TX sensing bulb was disconnected AND performed a leak detection which immediately showed a leaky recharge valve. They repaired and recharged everything for the same price as CM's recharge. Fast forward to 2020 - everything still running perfectly. We just checked the temperature drop between supply and return vents and the unit is cooling as well as last year (22 degree drop) with same outside temp and humidity conditions. So I can't prove the reason for Comfort Mechanical's motivation in not checking for the source of the coolant leak, and for not pointing out the obvious disconnected TXV temp sensing bulb. Maybe he was lazy or not proficient in HVAC repair -- but he was sure willing and ready to sell us a new $4000 compressor we didn't need. (and now have the proof) Either way, it's not the type of help you'd want to expect

Let me share my experience with Stanley Steemer, starting with the hiccups I encountered before…read morehighlighting how they tried to make things right, even if it wasn't completely satisfying. I didn't need money back from them. I needed the job completed as I originally requested. I got in touch with them to get a quote for cleaning two large couches, a hefty recliner, and the seat cushions of eight dining room chairs. I spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, making sure to clearly describe everything to avoid any mix-ups. However, when the technician arrived, he dropped a surprise: the chairs weren't included in the quoted price and would cost more. I was perplexed because the work order did list the chairs, but they weren't charged. After raising my concern with Stanley Steemer, I learned that the price for a fully upholstered chair is $15 each, so I assumed the seat cushions would be around $7.50 each. That adds up to $60 for all eight chairs--while it's not a huge amount, it's the principle of the matter. When I contract for a job, I expect the work and pricing to align, just as they expect me to pay. In an attempt to make amends, they offered a $20 discount on my bill, which felt rather silly I didn't need their money. I needed their service and I wasn't about to pay more for the chairs. Just leave them. I'll do them. I suggested they keep the discount, but they insisted on applying it. Now, I'll have to tackle cleaning the chairs myself, which means renting a machine and putting in the labor, all because of their quoting miscommunication. It's frustrating! As for my light beige furniture, some spots remain stubbornly dirty. I plan to attempt a DIY clean, and if I manage to get those spots out, you can bet I'll be writing an amended review! I have to admit, the parts that are clean look fantastic, especially considering I have cats that tend to leave their dirty footprints all over my furniture. Damn them. On a positive note, the Stanley Steemer team was genuinely nice and friendly. I can't say for certain whether they were fully competent, but I do feel confident that if you get an itemized bill and approve it, your experience should go more smoothly. So, here's my advice: if you decide to hire Stanley Steemer, make sure you get an itemized contract with prices for each service in your email first. That way, you can avoid any miscommunication and keep everything on track!

Initially I called them as my AC was out and they came out and found that it was the capacitor. They didn't have the correct one my unit needed in stock, so the tech offered that he could wire two together that would "work". If I wanted the correct part, it would cost an additional $100 dollars just to order it, plus the cost of the part. The next time I had an AC problem, I called them again and the gentleman fixed the problem and offered me to join their membership program. The pricing is fair and it includes two check ups a year. He also told me that they do not charge a $100 fee to order in parts as the previous tech had told me. Yesterday was my first check up. The gentleman they sent was very nice and said my condenser might need more coolant, but he wasn't sure they would need to send out a repair technician, he was only a maintenance technician. So today another very nice employee came and checked my unit and said yes, in fact it could use additional coolant, and he gave me the price. I was quite shocked by the price, and looked up online the typical pricing for the type of coolant that I needed and it was a third of what I was being quoted. As I don't believe everything I read online, I called another HVAC company for a quote and they about a fourth of the price per pound. So there it is. Very nice service people, super duper over priced on coolant even if you are a member of their service plan and that was with my discount :(

For starters their prices were over rated and they had inexperienced installers doing the work. But at the time we had no other choice. After everything was installed we had a leak from the piping for condensation release caused damage to our drop ceiling in the basement. They had to send a more experienced installed come to replace that piping correctly. So fast forward a few years. We noticed the a/c wasn't producing like it should. I just happened to go where our furnace and blower are located. Heard a lot of air blowing and looked to see part of the duct work is came apart (see attached pic). Called them out to repair it. After he looked at it, he said he would come up with an estimate for the repairs. I told him we are not paying for faulty installation due to poor installers doing the work. He said he would have to call his supervisor. Well they took care of it at no cost which all they did was use better duct work tape. Then he informed us that if they had to come out again and "do it correctly" we would have to pay for it. I'm thinking "no it should have been done the right way". So don't ever use them cause they do not have very experienced installers and do crappy work.
