We had a decent experience. We had a main pipe backup sewage in our rental. Unfortunately the owner was out of state so we arranged everything- except insurance. They quickly assessed where the liquid was. They contained the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The only concern I have is not telling me one day when they came and took equipment of there's. I spent 30 minutes wondering where the equipment went until our owner called and gave us an update and said they had been out. The guys doing the work were very pleasant and did a great job. The lead/project manager could work on a couple of things: 1. Be awake before you call a client. Mumbling does not bode well. 2. If you say you'll be there in an hour, call to say your late if it's more than 10 minutes- they were late by 30 minutes then ate in their car for another 10,. 3. Whether you see another company in the house or not , always speak to the owner/person on premise. A simple phone call would do if you're too lazy to knock on the front door. All in all, we'd use them again, but hope we are never in a position where we have to. read more

I just received a welcome call from Anna at ServPro to inform me that the month and a half of water damage mitigation, demo, asbestos abatement, mold mitigation, cleanup, testing and a lot of other things I'm probably missing, was now officially done. ServPro, in addition to their methodical approach to every single item, were available and game for all the curve balls our situation threw at them. From their initial call to introduce themselves to me (after my insurance rep had logged the call with them), to the painful and excruciatingly slow reaction from the condo HOA management company, to the courteous interaction with my tenant, my rental property management company, my insurance adjuster (especially helpful), availability to speak to anyone and everyone I deemed necessary in order to clear any doubts, they were invaluable. ServPro had photos and video footage of everything. Murphy's Law dictates that when things can go wrong, they certainly will. In my case, photos I had taken of the condo had come out either blurry or some other form of useless but thanks to ServPro, this was not an issue. Their accurate and precise, fully functional equipment recorded absolutely everything for my adjuster and file records. Clear communication. Availability at all times. Reassurance. Cooperation. A reliably friendly voice at the other end of the call. In June of 2021, after putting the kiddos to bed, I sat down and noticed what appeared to be "puffy" baseboard. Initially I thought "nah, that's just a shadow". My curiosity got the best of me, and as I crawled over to the area- the carpet was wet. I literally said to my husband: "go shut off the water, get a few tools and a fan." Mind you, this is after 9:45pm. We get the couches and furniture moved and the carpet ripped up. Call over to Serve Pro and they said they'd be out in the am. 8:12 am, LESS THAN 12 HOURS!!!! Warren showed up- and mapped out the water area. Immediately started running a dehumidifier and fans- pulled up more carpet, took off base board and gave us a few thoughts as to what may have happened. Ana, coordinated plumbers to come out and see what they could find, as well as Warren and Ana explained and helped through the entire insurance process. Even when I was feeling really overwhelmed, the whole team met me with kindness and care. They suggested a contractor to replace the flooring/wall damage etc. ultimately, our hot water main developed a pinhole leak. The mapping area of damage was SPOT ON. The whole experience was a BREEZE! Everything wrapped up and we were happy to have had minimal damage and such quick response! Long story even longer, even though I thought we wouldn't need their incredible services again- we did. Our dishwasher had a leak, and it saturated the subfloor, and began leaking into the lower level ceiling. I called Serve Pro, and Jamie said: "you're not calling with an water emergency are you...?" To which, I almost started laugh/crying. Once again, Warren was out to the house within 2.5 hours to check out any damage. I can't express the level of professionalism, kindness, gentleness, experience, meticulous detail and quick response time from this incredible team. Where to begin? There are not enough kind words or phrases to express how truly wonderful the team is at San Diego East. Our family made a first home purchase last October and a month later to the day of close, we were hit with a flood that required 3 months of labor to get us back to square one. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SCAM. They seemed great up front, and assured me that they'd take care of interacting with my insurance, the insurance of the liable party, and my HOA. Then, in the name of "emergency mitigation", they did several *literally thousands of dollars* of work that my perfectly normal Geico homeowners insurance wouldn't cover. They made it sound as if all of this work was absolutely necessary, and in my foolish new homeowner's gullibility, because it was an emergency in the middle of the night, I signed a contract with them on the emergency mitigation work that they treated as a blank check. For example: they charged me hundreds of dollars for "moving blankets" -- as though they'd need to buy brand new moving blankets for my furniture?! As though I was getting to keep the moving blankets?! They had access to the details of my insurance policy and were in a position to verify whether the work they did would be covered. But what do they care? They get paid either way. And of course, they absolutely did not do the work of communicating with my insurance. They then offered me a quote for the restoration work to be done after the mitigation work, which was again *many thousands of dollars* more than my insurance would cover, and many thousands more than I ultimately ended up paying other contractors. My insurance adjustor was scandalized by the quote they sent. They also did the pack-out for my house and held my items in storage -- in the process, *breaking and destroying* my bed frame and a shelving unit, and badly gouging the wood in my dining table and my dresser. They claimed that the bed frame leg was already broken and that the table was already gouged before the pack-out -- as though I wouldn't have noticed my bed tipping over...?!?! As though I wouldn't notice a giant gouge in the middling of my dining table?!? Naturally, they refused to reimburse me for the damage. I asked for proof that it was already damaged -- knowing, of course, that it was not -- and they sent closeup photos with no discernible location and *with the metadata stripped.* (All earlier photos they had sent included normal metadata.) That way, I wouldn't be able to prove that the photos were taken after they'd moved and destroyed my furniture. Also, they literally charged more for the storage of my furniture than my mortgage cost -- nearly twice as much! They ate up the majority of my additional living expenses from my insurance. To store furniture in a warehouse. Warren Connor seemed so kind and helpful and reassuring, and then price-gouged me with the mitigation, broke my furniture, and tried to price-gouge me again with the restoration. The reason for the one year delay on writing this review: filed subrogation claim with insurance company to recover out of pocket expenses of $1,500. I was hoping for co-operation from Serv Pro of San Diego and its owner Frank Pownall with my insurance company and insurance subrogation attorneys. Unfortunately, that never materialized. Frank Pownall (owner) is the most unresponsive business owner I have ever dealt with. Frank would not return phone calls during the mold remediation event. His employee Jesus was as incompetent as they come. His employees were not removing all of the Stachybotrys and Chaetomium mold spores colony's, consequently failing 3 mold test over a 2 month period. What should have been a 2 week demo job and mold remediation turned into a nightmare event. I caught his employee Jesus covering Stachybotrys mold growth with plastic prior to one of the mold test. I took the plastic down and of course the area tested positive. His employee Jesus damaged my dishwasher display panel and Frank did not seem to care for the first 2 months about my complaints. Only after I threatened to sue did he finally pay for the damage. His employees also failed to install the containment barrier between the kitchen and living room correctly and contaminated the entire house with Chaetomium and Stachybotrys airborne mold spores. This incompetence put us in a hotel for an additional 2 months. Tried to get rid of Frank and his company but no other company would take over the job due to liability issues with signing off on the job as being complete and free of mold spores or mold colony growth. When the subrogation claim against the installer of the dishwasher failed to respond by October of 2015 the matter was sent to the insurance company's subrogation attorney. I tried to call Frank Pownall in December 2015 in order to get a missing employee statement as to what damage was found during the initial demolition. Again, Frank refused to return my phone calls. Luckily I documented the water damage, demolition, and mold remediation very well with pictures and documents during the event so I should still prevail with getting my $1,500 back through subrogation. Thankfully, I have good homeowners insurance and the $40,000 bill was covered. This is the worst company for mold remediation. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I GUARANTEE YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU DO! read more

Frank and ServePro of San Diego saved my business. On February 1st, 2017 I arrived at my 3,000 sq foot retail store in San Diego to find 2 inches of water covering 90+% of the business. Worse, the water was a sewer line back up, which meant the water was toxic. I was in shock and had no idea what to do. I called ServePro and Frank Pownall immediately took charge of the situation. He was on scene within an hour and quickly directed my staff and I of what to do and the priority in which those tasks should be completed. It was obvious that he had experienced this scene many times and knew what was important. Over the course of 11 days ServePro helped me fight my insurance company, tear the store, apart, and put it back together. Frank even went to the flooring store down the street from our location and helped us pick out flooring that could be delivered and installed in the time frame we had given him for reopening the business. While my insurance company was all too happy to leave us out in the cold (until we got our attorney involved, no stars for those A-holes), Frank and Servpro truly saved our business. My team moved everything out and into storage, but Frank's team handled everything else. The demolition, flooring, drywall, and painting teams were polite, professional, and did great quality work. They even covered wall hangings we couldn't move with plastic so they didn't get paint and drywall dust on them. To walk into our store today you would never even know that we had the flood. I have risked my life savings and my career on my store. Everything I have has been invested in this place and it is still here today because of ServePro. I would give this business 0 stars if I could! DO NOT USE SERVPRO AFTER A FLOOD! REPEAT - DO NOT USE SERVPRO! We sustained a flood in our home after the pressure valve on the wachine machine stopped working. ServPro was hired by our insurance company to dry out the house, remove flooring and any drywall that was affected by the water. After a week they left and said everything was dry. Our contractor, Restoration Solutions (who are awesome!) checked the moisture in the laundry room, kitchen, and guest bathroom; all rooms that ServPro did not demo or dry out. The drywall in each room was SATURATED with water. The meter read at 99%. As a result mold grew from water sitting in the drywall and insulation for 18 days. If my thorough contractor did not test the moisture we would be living with wet walls and mold! Hire true professionals. read more

Contacted them about water damage that was warping my subflooring and was thinking mold as the next problem. They took down my number and an alternate for my wife who would be home. They never called the secondary number after not reaching me. I had to call back and get an appointment set for 5 days later, then they never show up! Not a good way of doing business especially after you tell the customer that you consider water damage and possible mold and "urgent issue". Truly I have a hard time giving Frank and his Serv Pro services even one star. First week in June I discovered a slow leak in my water heater and by that time the thing had nearly emptied itself. Contacted Serv Pro and they were right there with fans and dehumidifiers. But once it came time to replace the walls that were cut out, lay new flooring etc getting work done was like pulling teeth. Nothing but excuses for delays. When I discovered, after talking to workmen ,getting paid was also like pulling teeth. I finally fired him!! Today, after bringing in a contractor I have experience with, I finally have had my flooring replaced. I work at a well known collision repair center in San Diego. About three weeks ago, we had a vehicle get towed in that had very small traces of blood on the center console. I called the insurance company to get a recommendation on who they prefer to use for Hazmat removal. They recommended me to contact Servpro. I called and spoke with a nice young lady that was very helpful in taking my information to have the local office call me to come out and clean up the interior. One week went by, and I had still not received a phone call. I had left the business phone number and my cellular. I then called back and believe I spoke with the same helpful young lady. She changed my request to an emergency since no one had attempted to contact me yet. Patiently, I waited. Three week later, I have yet to receive a phone call to schedule. This is unacceptable service. Where is this companies business ethics? I contacted the insurance company who referred me to them and let them know their insured's vehicle is still sitting thanks to there horrible referral to Servpro. He will not respond back to you at all. I took off countless days and either no one would show or they would show up whenever they feel like it with no regard or care for your time!
