This is an example of not doing due diligence. Live and learn. I hired Sesmas because I see a lot of their trucks in the area, but I simply didn't do my due diligence. Had I come to Yelp, I would've steered clear of them. My story is simple. Asked them to cut down 2 trees and stump-grind. Charged $1,000 for it. I was desperate as I had roots coming up through the ground killing my grass and I was trying to re-sod before Christmas. Sales told me on 10/21 that my trees would be cut down on 10/29, BUT he tried to make me do all of the 811 pre-work. Told him that the site doesn't allow me to do it UNLESS I represent that it is a DIY project. This guy went back and forth with me until I finally convinced him to do what "contractors" do, and make the 811 arrangements. I should have canceled the order then. That's on me. They cut the trees down on 10/31, and scheduled stump-grinding for 11/6. My stumps were grinded yesterday - over a month later - on 12/10. Why did it take so long? Stump-grinder had to make THREE visits to my home. FIRST visit, he saw the markings and noticed that my fiber lines weren't marked (i.e., my provider did not respond to the 811 request; that's on them). Stump-grinder shows up and sees that my fiber lines are not marked and let me know that he may cut the fiber lines. SECOND visit, AFTER my fiber lines were marked, he notes that he'll end up cutting them. What's messed up is that I'd already sent photos of the markings to the sales guy (photos attached), who did not send those photos to the stump-grinder. Just thoughtless stuff. The stump-grinder came out yesterday and completed the job on his THIRD visit (after I had my internet provider re-route my cables above-ground). My neighbor's internet line still was cut yesterday, eating up most of his day dealing with getting his fiber re-done, and I'll end up reimbursing him if they charge him for the $150 dispatch/repair fee. It is worth noting that the stump-grinder was extremely nice and I could tell he genuinely cared about the potential impact of his work (i.e., he didn't want to cut my lines, even if I had wanted to roll the dice and give him the green light; I appreciated that; THAT is good customer service). I would love to say that management cared, but I can't, as they thoughtlessly sent me an invoice for the full amount today after all I'd been through with them for the last month and a half. It came from the email of the operations manager who KNEW of the problems with this job, as it was escalated to her (as my sales guy didn't respond to my simple request (attached); the ops mgr called in response to it; the same ops mgr who sent me the invoice today). I paid it immediately, because their decision to send me an invoice for the full $1,000 - given all I've sent them (regarding my confounding text communications with my sales guy) - truly does speak volumes about the company. Yes, this is a PSA TO USE YELP!! I use it for almost every new restaurant I'm going to try, but I dropped the ball and did not do it in this instance. I truly regret my lack of due diligence that opened the door to me hiring Sesmas. read more

This is a delay review for the tree service received from Sesmas Tree Service. Sesmas Tree Service was recommended by my property inspector to cut and remove one medium size of fallen trees in my backyard behind property fence. I got an estimate from Ricky in October 2017 prior to service. After Ricky and his crew cut / chop trumps of the tree, Ricky did not remove or haul away all tree debris at the end. Sesmas Tree Service basically just dumped tree debris all over. Because of unattended tree debris, I received county police notice for tree debris violation. This is a result of not hiring the right tree service Company to get the job right. I ended up spending more money hiring another alternative tree service company to clean up tree debris that was not done by Sesmas Tree Service. And after all clean up from a different tree service company, police has removed violation after re-inspection. If you are looking for a responsible tree service company, I would not recommend Sesmas Tree Service as you may ended up getting into more problem and money at the end. read more

Avoid. I signed up for their lawn maintenance service. About the 3rd time they came out their technician sprayed what must've been round up or something similar over 50-60% of my backyard, and large patches of my front yard killing all the grass. He did my neighbors yard the same day with similar results. I emailed the owner of the company and sent him the pictures, as well as spoke with their office staff. He replied back to thank me for the pictures, and said he would be back out the same week to look at it. He never showed up and then went radio silent. He refused to reply back to my emails from then on, and his office staff just kept saying they're sorry he will call you. He did the same exact thing to my neighbor, said he'd come out and then never showed and quit answering calls and emails. I would not do business with this company if I were you. read more

Our experience with Sesmas Tree Service was excellent - from the first meeting to go over our project - to receiving an estimate for the work - to the 7 or so hours it took to complete the work. The crew that did the work were very helpful as they checked in periodically asking us to come out to see what was done to make sure we were satisfied with the work. They did some work for my girlfriend. If I were there they would not have gotten away with charging her what they did for the extremely small job. I understand every company has their minimums but this was too high for the small job. I feel like she was taken to the bank. This company was working on a neighbors yard. They parked in front of our house and began dumping their equipment in our flower beds for no apparent reason. We came out to see why on earth they were doing it and got no explanation. Just "sorry, we had to put it somewhere" and later "we didn't realize it was a flower bed." The icing on the cake was what appeared to be the supervisor jumping out of the truck and landing in the middle of the flower bed while we were standing there. Maybe they do good work for their customers but they certainly don't care a hoot about their customer's neighbors. read more

They sound so nice on the phone and offer to match any other offer. But, then the job is half done. We asked for them to come back and sure no problem. Then 30 days later, they 'SAY' they came back, and demand that the work was 100% complete. They refuse to finish what they start and then threaten to sue you. Their customer service is horrible. We had to hire a second company to come out and do the work. I deducted 10% from the bill - which was generous I thought considering how little they did. The work was rescheduled twice because they were too busy and you could barely tell they had even been to our house. Be prepared to get a lawyer. read more

We own a home in Suwanee and we called the 3 largest tree services to get bids on our large job. All of the bids were within a couple hundred dollars of each other--we went with Semas because the estimator, a young kid named Ricky, was the most kind and asked the most questions. The days of the job they showed up on time, in the rain, and worked hard. We asked them to do an extra job when they were here, and they gave us a super reasonable price. Do not do business with this company. They did a simple job for my father and I (we both own the house) which took over a week to complete. Terribly slow and poor communication. In the process, they let a tree trunk from our next door neighbor's yard sit on our lawn for days and killed the grass. To top it off, there was an honest misunderstanding about the price of the job. I had the correct price ($400), but my dad (who is elderly) was here when the limbs got taken down and wrote them a check for the wrong amount. I didn't know that this horrible business got shortchanged until Henry Roque called me yelling and threatening me two days later for the full amount. He, without giving us the benefit of the doubt, accused us of taking advantage of his Hispanic workers because they don't speak English. I told him that their service was so horrible that they should discount their fee, but of course we contacted their business office and paid the full amount. Because we are not classless jerks like Henry. Tree services are a dime a dozen, and you can do better than Sesmas with any of the others. Rude and unprofessional. read more

Had extensive tree damage from a storm. The estimator came out and was very nice and knowledgeable. We had extensive conversation about the job, logistics, pricing, etc as it was a big job in a somewhat restricted space. We went with this company, despite not being the most competitive estimate, because we felt they were the nicest and most knowledgeable. The tree removal team did a great job, but the rest of the company did not complete the other items on the estimate as agreed and kept making excuses as to why. Office manager was extremely rude and did not provide an official receipt for payment (again, other excuses why). Other calls go unreturned and we had to hire another company to finish the job. read more

They were terrible. We hired them to cut 12-15 feet of limbs around the roof, they left two way within that range. One was less than 3 feet from the roof, one was questionable. I asked them to come back. A month later, by the time all the leaves had fallen, I get a voice mail from a guy saying he came by when no one was there and that the trees were 8-10 feet away, asking why I hadn't paid. We hired a new guy to do it, and took pictures of the distance between the roof and the trees. We said we would pay them but take out the cost of the new guys. They were not open to negotiations. Do not even bother. They were nothing but rude and kept calling and and leaving threatening voice mails. read more

I hired Sesmas to remove two dead trees from my property. They allowed the trees to fall on my driveway, cracking the concrete. They have attempted to repair the driveway twice. The latest repair failed after a few weeks, with the new cement cracking away from the original. They did not reply to my latest request to make another repair. read more

Our initial interaction with Sesmas seemed good, they sent an employee out right away to give a quote on tree trimming, and the quoted price was good. However, no one called or showed up the day that the service was scheduled for, and when we followed up, they informed us that the employee who gave us the quote no longer worked there. The following day, some of the trees they were supposed to trim were uprooted from a storm and ended up falling. So I asked them to come give us a new quote to take away the fallen trees and finish the trimming. It took several days of calling for them to respond, no one ever came out, they only quoted by pictures that I texted, and the new quote was 5x the original price. Plus they couldn't give us a set date on when they could do the work. We removed the fallen trees ourselves and then called a third time to see if they could just come back to trim the branches that didn't fall, and they told us it would be several weeks until they could even give a new quote. I explained how they had already let us down twice before, and was hoping they'd be willing to make up for it, but they were not interested. Very poor customer service, they obviously have enough business to not care about mine. I'm very disappointed that I wasted so much time on them. read more

I contacted Sesmas Tree Service who promptly came to the house and wrote an emergency rate quote to remove the tree for $2400. This price included removal of two small trees for access (small enough to get wood chipped whole), the oak tree, limbs, debris and use of a bobcat. After starting the job, spending no more than an hour wood chipping the limbs and debris, Sesmas told me they'd have to leave and come back some other time to get the bulk of the tree (the trunk/logs), as they had other jobs. So, I was charged an emergency rate for them to start the work, but to come back at their leisure to finish it. The next day I contacted them and let them know I would finish removing the tree and to please adjust the price for just removal of the tree limbs. After a conversation with a rather rude lady in their office, I received an invoice for $1900. Note that the bulk of the tree is still sitting in my driveway, and they never had to bring the bobcat out as detailed in the proposal. I checked with neighbors/friends/coworkers who also had emergency tree removal due to Irma. I was able to collect prices for 3 similar jobs. Sesmas was over double the price of all of them, and 6x the price of another local insured/bonded competitor. One neighbor had 9 large tress removed (two larger than the one still in my driveway) for $2800, that comes to about $311 per tree (two bobcacts included in the job). Either Sesmas was price gouging during Irma, or they are just an incredibly bad emergency tree removal value compared to other local insured tree removal services. Be wary of this company. read more
