If I'm being honest, I was very nervous about coming in and seeing Waheeda. I saw her deal on Groupon and figured it was too good to be true, but I bought it on a whim anyways. I booked about a month in advance. Although she had mostly five-star reviews, my anxiety-ridden mind narrowed in on the handful of bad reviews. Let me just say, I was relieved that all those bad reviews were just bad reviews! Waheeda was so sweet- definitely very frank at times, but she was amazing! I came in about ten minutes early and Waheeda had just finished with a client. She greeted me as she was cleaning up and then sat me down within five minutes. I was offered water and then we started talking about my hair. I originally wanted either a touch-up on my blonde ashy balayage or change it up with a color similar to Overtone's Rose Gold for Brown Hair with my naturally black/brown hair. After discussing how I wanted the least damaging option, Waheeda got to work bleaching my hair. I was worried about her overbleaching, but she made sure to check on it often. During this time, Waheeda and another hair colorist gave me this huge book of hair shades to pick my favorite. They pointed out the color that was closest to the color in the picture that I showed them, but I opted for something a bit brighter. Once Waheeda washed the bleach off, she brought the book back to confirm the color that I wanted. She then started dying my hair. The color was MEGA bright. It honestly scared me a bit at first. She told me, however, that she could darken the color by toning it if I didn't like how it looked. After she washed the dye out, she took me back to the mirror and told me not to freak out. I actually loved how it looked! I think Waheeda did tone it once as I felt her work with my hair for quite a while. After agreeing to the color, Waheeda brushed my wet hair. It was so healthy that not a strand broke off while she was brushing it. She then proceeded to give me a short trim before blowdrying and curling my hair. (See picture attached!) Waheeda definitely took her time, but she was able to finish everything within three hours. When we got to the payment, I thought she was going to charge me extra for the toner (as other places have done & I was prepared to do), but she honored the Groupon with no extra charges. Trying to find an appointment near Mother's Day is always challenging. Thankfully, Waheeda saved my day and more importantly, my hair! Kim - 949-445-6546 I've been going to Kim for about 4 years now because I know she takes care of my hair. From black-blue ombre to ashy highlights, Kim's work is always 110%. She's so sweet, professional and takes her time to ensure quality results. She's so realistic too, lets me know how many x sessions are needed to get to a certain hair color and it's totally achievable. Went here for a haircut and color, Louann was the stylist. Haircut was just average, just cleaned my roots really. Hair color was the worst. It was supposed to be a deep red but she dyed it a black/purple wine color. I was ok with this because even if the color wasnt what i asked for it looked ok. HOWEVER, three days later the color faded out EVERYWHERE except for my roots. Now, my hair color is uneven everywhere with light browns and deep purples as you can see in pictures. ** would give 0 stars if I could ** A couple days ago we found this Groupon and looked at the reviews - seeing 5 stars; we decided let's do it. My two sisters were the ones who decided they wanted to do a ombré. When they got there Waheda was nice. She asked them their hair history and said she liked a challenge. She told them she had been doing this for 20 years plus. I don't doubt that but I don't think she is a good hairdresser by any means. She told them she could get them what they wanted but it would've been a little darker. They acknowledge and had her continue. That was at 5pm. While she was bleaching there hair she kept disappearing into the back which is fine bleaching takes awhile but when she came back to check on their hair she knew she messed up. Even telling one of my sisters she messed up while combing their hairs. Both her husband and her combed their hairs carefully knowing they had over bleached and damaged both their hairs and not wanting to risk breaking it. They stayed to fix it till 11:30. But it was getting late and we decided to leave. At that point there hairs were still so messed up (pictures will be attached) they had multi colored hair; blueish silver, orange, yellow, platinum. One of my sisters chunk of hair had fallen out it was now 3/4 the length it use to be and had almost looked like it dreaded on to itself. It also was not blended or faded well. Next day, she apologized and was super nice and offered us money to fix it. (SHE OFFERED THIS WITH THE AMOUNT) all she wanted was us to send her after pics so she "could learn from her mistakes b/c she loved the girls so much and it hurt her to not have them be happy" we went to a different salon and got it fixed and sent her pictures. The hair dressed combed one of my sisters hair out and CHUNKS of hair came out. He deep conditioned and had to do lots of work and use special products to not further damage their hair and also cut 8 inches off of one my sisters hair. She instantly flipped and said that she did all the work and that they didn't really do anything and she wouldn't pay. We want back and forth with her all day and at the end we just told her we would take to the board of cosmetology because she should not be doing any hair work anymore. At that point this is when she started harassing us. She sent us multiple texts and called us multiple times. She sounded like she was drunk. We recorded the whole phone convos. She admitted she messed up and just going back and forth so we told her to stop calling us. She called us again obviously super drunk and told us she did not like us "challenging her". Her husband then went on the phone and asked us to put our sisters on the phone. We did not and hung up because they were minors and we did not want to continue going back and forth with lying and manipulators. Waheeda has done some excellent color correction on my horribly bleached hair. There are no words to describe the transformation. Not only is she an exceptional hair stylist she is also a beautiful person inside and out. I enjoy the time being here. I found this place and read some awesome reviews. I thought I would give it a try. I called to see if I could get an appointment on a Saturday (which can be tough.) Waheeda (salon manager) answered and said she just had a cancellation for 12 and I explained what I wanted and she said no problem! She says she does amazing work with color and of course people can talk, but boy did she surprise me! She made sure she knew what I wanted, highlighted my hair with a lower volume to protect my hair as it has been highlighted many times before. She took her time but was still very efficient. I saw her Groupon online and contacted her, we set up an appointment for friday afternoon, she was extremely flexible when I told her I would have to push the time back due to work. She asked me lots of questions about what I wanted and didnt want. One thing that i really appreciated was that she said my hair shape was doing nothing for my face, but she said it in the moat respectful way ever. I respected her opinion. We went a few shades darker and cut several inches. I usually leave a salon in tears due to parting ways without a part of myself (i know im not the only one), but this time was different. I was happy. She curled it beautifully and i have yet to come close to her styling. I really connected with her, she was funny, open, with a side of sassy. Rose and Minerva are professional, but I cannot say the same for Waheeda. She made sarcastic remarks to my friend after I didn't approve of her work on me. I came in with medium length hair to get a blunt bob at the shoulder. She did not once part my hair--not even when she cut my bangs. I had to part it myself... she called it a job after 5-10 mins of cutting and going in with the razor when the picture I showed her did not call for all that weight being chopped off. My cut was uneven. Minerva tried to go in and fix it. She kept saying what a great job Waheeda did ........ Rose went in and did some major damage control. She fixed as much as she could and it turned out alright. I still have a random chunk of hair thats shorter than the rest. Waheeda's apologies were "I'm sorry I wasn't the right stylist for you." Waheeda is amazing, she made my dry damaged hair look gorgeous. My hair was brassy and completely uneven from chemical layers. She did a hair consultation when I arrived, I showed her a picture of what I eventually wanted my hair to look like. I knew it wouldn't happen in one session, but she came pretty close to it. I've always hated getting a hair cut and was afraid that I would walk out of there with short hair because of how damaged my hair was, but she managed to keep my length and still trim it. Can I give a zero??? Nightmare experience, will never go back here again. I received a package for Christmas that included 2 hair treatments and 2 spa treatments. When I called to book my appointments the man I spoke to gave me attitude about redeeming the gift because their name had changed, then he gave me some excuse that he was "outside" and did not have the schedule book available. Why the heck are you answering the phone for the salon outside and unprepared to assist the customer calling? I went for my first service and everything started out ok. The salon is pretty dumpy, in an old run down and noisy shopping center. It was not very clean looking inside. During my facial the outside noise was ridiculous, doors slamming, cabinets shutting, music and banging from the pizza place next door, and other salon employees having noisy conversations right outside the treatment room door. Not relaxing at all. I had a mini facial and a brow wax, which I regret. As soon as I left my face was swelling up everywhere that the wax was done and by the time I got home I has blisters on my face. A week later I still can't get rid of them, it looks horrible. So today I go back, thinking I will give her the benefit of the doubt and see if she can fix the problem while I have my second treatment, heck it was pre-paid anyways and maybe I just had an allergic reaction. I got to the salon 10 minutes before my appointment and a woman working at a station towards the front proceeds to tell me that the esthetician, Tania, has not been to work in 3 days, is very sick and will probably be out for a week. I asked why no one has called me to let me know and she said it was "not the salon's problem, Tania is an independent contractor" Awesome customer service. I waited until my appointment time just in case, while the woman gave me attitude because she is also Tania's roommate and she should know if she's coming or not. She did try to call her while I stood there but who knows if she really called or just pretended. I left, won't be going back, and will be requesting a refund of the pre-paid package so that I can at least enjoy my gift at a salon that puts some effort into their business! read more

When it comes to Setara, there's only one stylist you should know about: Tanya. I've been going to Tanya for years and I only really trust my hair in her hands. She's super meticulous about her work and is a perfectionist. So much so, that it could take her almost two hours to cut your hair (if it's long going to medium length). From this you get a sense that she's really passionate about what she does as opposed to just getting you in and out of the salon. Hair styling isn't her only talent -- she's an excellent colorist and esthetician! One thing to note is that she's great with Asian hair and Asian hair trends/styles. If you tell her you want to look like a KPOP idol or a JPOP star, she'll work her magic. She's great with shaggy, layered cuts and bobs. As for Setara the salon, I couldn't really care too much for it. The area is slightly busy, customer service isn't all there (from receptionist and other employees). It's also kind of a dirty salon -- you can see unswept hair around the stations. I really only come here for Tanya. read more

Calling this a facial would be a disservice, this is a expertly executed set of facial treatments aimed to open up the pores, remove all of the impurities under your skin (and I do mean all - Kim makes sure she digs out every last bit), reduce acne, and freshen up your skin by removing a layer of dead tissue. Hell, she even waxed and shaped my eyebrows! Not only that but she was so kind and patient to explain each step she was doing and give tips on how I can continue this care at home. Also, it is obvious that she meticulously cleans all the equipment in between clients and everything is freshly sanitized. Lo Ann is amazing!! She's so sweet and always does an amazing job. I've brought my cousin in and she too loves Lo Ann's work (my cousin's extremely picky)! Where to begin.. Waheeda is AMAZING!! From the moment I walked in the chemistry was there (which is important to me so I know we're on the same page) I came in with pretty long hair but it was dead and after having kids It was already breaking and falling out so I just wanted to chop it off (mid length). I have been going to Waheeda at Setara Hair Studio for about 3 years now. Every time I need to make an appointment at the last minute, even though she was busy, she would squeeze me in so graciously. She always takes the time to talk with you about what you want, gives you options and makes sure that the cut you're getting works with how little or much you want to deal with your hair. She is very sweet, easy to talk to, down to earth, and very knowledgeable about cut, color, style and hair in general. I always leave happy. I have recommended a lot of my friends to Waheeda already, and they also have been loyal clients. I highly recommend this salon. I have found the best esthetician in the area and have recommended her to my best friends. I started going to Kimberly about two years ago. I had her do my brows and they are always better than perfect - even when I've left her nothing to work with. Her specialty is microdermabrasion which I have sought out through expensive dermatologist and other locations but nothing beats the results I get after a 2 hour treatment. My face always looks and feels amazing. She uses top notch products and just has the experience to do the right things for my face. Kimberly is thorough and takes typically over 2 hours. It is a most relaxing experience. Her prices are cheap and if I could go once a month I would. Nobody has beat her for results and price in my experience. My face looks noticeably younger.
