I chose this salon because I previously had a great experience getting my bangs trimmed by one of the owners and loved their work, so I booked again with a different stylist, Yahayra. I can only speak to my experience with this stylist. Unfortunately, my recent haircut did not turn out as requested. I asked for long layers while keeping fullness at the ends, along with some face framing, and I provided inspiration photos. A cut I've gotten many times. The result was significantly shorter, uneven, and choppy. After the initial cut, we moved straight into styling without any visible checking, blending, or refinement of the shape. I first reached out directly to the stylist, who acknowledged the mistakes, apologized, and issued a full refund, which I appreciated. I then reached out privately to the salon to share feedback. During the conversation with management, the response suggested the result may have been due to how my request was interpreted, rather than solely an execution issue. I was also offered an appointment to correct the cut, but a $50 deposit was requested, and I did not proceed further. Correcting the haircut afterward required multiple follow-up appointments with other stylists to fix the issues, and additional length had to be removed. I had been growing my hair out for over two years, so this was especially disappointing and saddening. I really wanted to like this place, better yet the stylist Kathleen I found from Instagram. I mean the videos she posted were great, the client post cut/color/service, seemed to be happy and looked good. Off to trying to schedule my appointment with Kathleen I go! Process was a bit challenging, trying to schedule through IG, response time, deposit requirements, etc but I went through with it. I was excited to try someone new, get a toner refresh and cut. Cut was $125 and toner $115 plus and $85 deposit requirement to book. Got it done, set for my appointment. During my appt, Kathleen asked me what i was looking for and I showed her some of her own work I thought looked nice and talked about how I wanted to keep the density of my hair with my hair being on the finer/thinner side. She suggested I do layers throughout the top section to add volume and she agreed to keep the length. Kathleen was very nice, very personable and easy to talk to, she gave some suggestions on products to use to help my hair and dry scalp which I told appreciated. During the cut process, I noticed she was trimming ALOT of my hair as she was adding layers. I just let her do her job because after she was the expert or thats what I thought. The cut is done and she does the blowout and styles, always looks good right? For the time being I thought it looked good, of course since she just styled, and then when I looked at the ground and her sweeping up my hair, I truly noticed how much she thinned out my hair. When I came home my husband said the same thing. I reached out to her a week later because I wanted to give it some time but the result was what it was. I messaged her through IG and shared my experience. She responds days later and took no accountability and said for the toner part, she does not like doing work after other stylists have done their color/toner because it's not her work. Isn't that what happens when you have new clients? Then she said she did not thin out my hair and she does not do that unless a client tells her to do that. She then said, I could come in and she would see what she could do to fix it. Never apologized or addressed about what I shared about my experience. I was then traveling and did not get back for a couple of months and then finally got back to her but at this point, I decided there is no trust here and I would not come back and wait until my hair grows out and get it cut/fixed by a professional. When I went through Kathleen's IG after the fact, I noticed most of her clients were her family and friends...and for the clients she did post, the same style and cut were also done....Which brings me to the point, everyone's hair is not the same, a cut style that works for someone's hair, may not work for the next person. I really did want to love my cut and thoughts of finding my new stylist but I was sadly wrong. I did message Kathleen to see how she would propose to fix my experience and it's almost been a week I have not heard back from her but in that time, I actually decided the trust from me is not there and i am not too sure that she could actually fix her thinning out my hair and toning unevenly. Seems like a case of self-proclaimed hair stylist extraordinaire diva mentality to me. Back to the drawing board for me on the quest for an expert stylist! $250 for a cut and toner is not cheap but the work felt cheap and done by an intern vs a professional stylist. BEWARE!! I saw this other review by another recent client from Kathleen..I totally agree! Another thing I noticed, the Salon owner Miriam only responds to positive reviews which is a shame. This salon is incredibly clean and feels super warm and inviting! I came in not too sure what I wanted to do other than dye my hair purple. I initially found Rene off of TikTok (@reneshair) and loved all her previous work so I messaged her for an initial consultation. We eventually landed on a purple balayage with slight hints of gray. Throughout the entire process, Rene was extremely gentle with my hair and scalp and constantly checked on me to make sure I was comfortable and knew what she was currently working on. The overall process took about 8 hours but it felt like only a couple hours as we made conversations that made time pass much faster! She had such a genuine vibe to her that made me feel like I was in good hands. As for the results of my hair, it completely exceeded my original vision! Top tier service! I've been following Mariam for years and I am so excited that she has a place to call HOME. I started getting my hair cut and colored by Mariam since 2019. I cant say I have much experience in salons to credit my appreciation for Mariam's overall service of my experience. The price of the salons haircuts may seem a tad heavy for some like myself and I'll be honest that it wouldn't be something I would give second chance even if I came out with the best haircut that would even forgive my ugly 2010 era haha. This is only if the best hair cut was the only thing I received for the price I paid. The thing is, you can go to a hair stylist who claims to have had decades of experience with haircuts and still be able to see their clear lacking in skills and understanding of how a single cut could completely alter the way hair naturally sits. With Mariam, after a warm genuine welcome, she would go through a check list of simple questions to establish a mutual decision of both your individual requirements and also an elevated professional advice that she envision would best suit you in both personality and physical appearance. Throughout her cutting process she would inform me of her steps and educate me on how it would gradually change the layout of my hair. This really helps the anxiety of having to just sit in the confusion from the progression of change and my own inability to envision what we both hope to achieve. Asking for consent is always appreciated although I personally almost immediately trust her enough to wager my future firstborn to bet in her abilities due to how genuine she was in the way she treated and communicated with me haha. Of course a wash and condition is included with your cut and that was also very nice; I felt like she takes twice the amount of care and time to cleaning my scalp than my own effort in self care. Then Mariam would continue to incrementally cut out a perfect profile of where you'd like your hair to layer naturally before giving you the most natural blow out. I've always enjoyed the huge diva-ish Brazilian blowouts from previous salons but with Mariam I find a deep appreciation in something that sits more gracefully and naturally. Its a nice change rather than having a professional provide you an impossible standard of floof to achieve at home you know. With Mariam I feel like she was aware of my stage in life where I prefer beauty in simplicity. This is not to overly compliment her just because she did an amazing job once but to acknowledge her handling of her profession in such an genuine and communicatively effective manner. Our conversation was refreshing and light hearted. I can already predict she'll be my stylist for years to come. Tldr: Mariam's professionalism shines in her genuine ability to understand client wants and combine it with her own vision to achieve a haircut befitting both your personality and your appearance. I've seen her previous work of styles much more intricate and voluminous to which I'm usually drawn to but Mariam helped me find my own look that I'm much happier in and helped me be more confident in my hair naturally.
