Though there was a schedule that listed Matiz class 9:45 am to 10:45 am on Saturdays, there was no information regarding start and end date, so I was under the impression it was on a rolling admission, or that I would receive an email with directions. I did not receive an email with instructions, thus I emailed Art Hub Academy asking whether or not I should show up the next day (Saturday) for the class. Jose Luis emailed me back and let me know that all classes start at the beginning of the month, however he was super accommodating and allowed my son to come in the next day, all due to MY confusion! I apologized for the inconvenience and thanked him for his flexibility and for being so thoughtful. We showed up to the class the next morning, and Ms. Vivian was there. I am extremely impressed with how patient she is. She provided an all inclusive classroom environment that made my son feel comfortable. So much so, that he asked if I could leave because all of the other parents were not present. Usually he does not like to be alone in new environments until he warms up, but he wanted to be alone within 10 minutes of the class! The children were already working on a clay project from the week prior, and Ms. Vivian accommodated all of the children. I watched her navigate the class professionally with an enthusiastic attitude and friendly demeanor. She was well organized and made sure to give every child attention, as well as one-on-one attention. She explained tasks well to the children, and encouraged the children to socialize. She was gentle yet firm in her teaching approach. I got the vibe that Ms. Vivian loves what she does and it truly shows through her actions. When the class was over, I walked back in to pick my child up. I asked her how my child did. It went well, he enjoyed it all while having fun and learning art concepts. I was surprised at how attentive she proved to be. In addition to telling me how the class went, she picked up on things that I was already aware of, but did not expect others to pick up on during a one hour class. For example, she picked up on the fact that my son needs a lot of hands-on instruction and repetition. She even went as far as to ask how she could better help my son. Words can not explain how good Ms. Vivian's attention to detail made me feel as a parent. I am truly appreciative of the professional and patient demeanor exhibited by this facility. I am really happy with the choice I made to bring my child here. My son would not stop talking about how fun the class was, and walking me through the process of "wiring" for his clay model. It has only been one class and I can see the impact that this establishment has made on my child's self-confidence. The developmental gains that my son (and I'm sure other children) are making from this establishment are substantial. The setup was pretty great to accommodate our group size very easily. We got instructions about the steps to make our bowl and a demo, but I along with others definitely found it hard to keep up. We needed a lot of individual help. I wish there was an assistant who could walk around and help us too. The studio glazed and painted the bowls to a color we liked. They looked great! I only wish we were able to be more hands on in the process and perhaps make two items as the process is quite hard if you're new and it would have been fun to take another stab at it.

He truly enjoys the art offerings, especially the creative classes, sketch classes, and summer animation camps. Mr. Fang holds a PhD in art from a very prestigious school, so the level of instruction is very in-depth. Critique time for older students is often at a college level. They always hold critiques at the end of class, and parents are welcome to join and learn more about their child's work. Ms. Emma is also an incredible teacher whose patience and enthusiasm make the classes fun and enjoyable. We look forward to having our child take more classes with them in the coming years!

The Great Lawn in front of the main building ie the Montalvo Center allows picnics without reservations - just set up camp under a tree. There's a very well maintained Italian garden right next to the great lawn with varieties of succulents, a pagoda like structure and cedars. Also saw a wedding in progress while we were there and it is such a beautiful location for it! I will definitely visit again to explore the trails. Parking can be a little hard on weekends but you gotta just wait till a spot opens. If the event venue is booked out - that makes parking harder since they reserve a lot for guests. Thoughtfully coordinated and seamlessly orchestrated, including redirecting exiting auto traffic due to nearby auto accident. Meal was delightful including iced tea and coffee. Can upgrade to wine and bubbly for a fee. There were roaming models (Sunny - a Tita from the Philippines - was in our area) showcasing outfits from a local Los Gatos boutique. Raffle for a 10 person dinner onsite. Gift shop with crafts to buy. Have more time can explore grounds. Was encouraged to take home the floral centerpieces which had plastic floral bags to aid with transport. If don't have a generous friend to treat you to luncheon, can purchase tix for $75. I first came across this studio on a visit to the bakery next door and was drawn in by the bright…read morecleanliness of the studio. I had just moved back home to the bay area and wanted to continue my pottery journey and take my skills further. I walked in and asked for a tour from the staff on-site and they were very thorough with questions and the walk through! After doing some research on studios in the south bay, I found this one to be the most attractive space in the area. I took a 1.5 skills class (between beginner and intermediate) and am happy to report that I have greatly improved my pottery skills! Prior to taking the class, I was able to throw with some skill and explore shapes. My objective in this class was to throw larger, cleaner, and more confidently. My teacher, Josephine, taught me an alternative method of throwing to what I was used to but I picked up on it quickly and was able to adjust my style to center and throw beyond 2 lbs. This in itself was a win because I have relatively smaller hands that would cramp easily when trying to move larger clay bodies. From the beginning of the class, Josephine clarified the goals of each student to identify the emphasis of our 6-week class. We cut through cylinders, practiced shaping, throwing off the hump, etc. By the halfway point, I was able to pull even cylinders with significantly more weight, setting up success for larger forms. I highly recommend this class and I am very happy with my work :) In the class, I started with Laguna Half and Half, then B-mix. About the studio: The studio is airy and clean. *Emphasis* on clean! Although many students do not have prior experience working in artistic spaces, everyone is respectful and mindful of the community. Meaning, people look after their own messes and clean up their stations, which is much appreciated in a creative community; this was a major factor in my deciding to sign up with this studio. If you take a class, there are long hours of open studio to come in and practice throwing, tools available for potters, and staff on-site to answer questions. If you are a more established potter, there are dedicated wheels for members. Overall, this studio gave me a lot of flexibility to grow my skills in a relatively short amount of time. I was able to reevaluate my throwing methods with an encouraging cohort, in a fantastic space. They also have some great glazes and stains to finish off your pieces with. It's also a plus that this is centrally located in a great part of Cupertino/South Bay. I am looking into more special guest workshops and a membership at this point. I've loved my time here and if you are hopping on the pottery wagon, this is a superb place to be!

There is a slab roller, extruder, and wedging table available for use. They have 16 glazes available. Clay will be fired to Cone 6 (currently they have BMix and Speckled buff for now but will expand more in the future.) Member hours are 9am-9pm starting in July. And of course they have a friendly and welcoming staff. :)

I came here with my friends to make dry flower candles. I love that they have shelves worth of…read morescents. I think I spent at least 20-30 minutes just sniffing and choosing which scents I want for my candle. They gave us a paper and pen to take notes. Too bad one of my favorite scent ran out so I didn't have enough for my candle. It's also great that they gave us an option (free) to make a second/non-decorative candle, because they know it's unlikely we'd want to light up our flower candle. We spent longer than the 90 min we were allotted for the workshop, but we weren't pressured to leave or speed up.

It was really fun to pick candle scents, toppings, and mix colors for the waffle and other decorations. I decided to make a chocolate waffle with chocolate-covered strawberries. The instructor was very nice, helped remelt the wax when it started to harden while stirring, and also made the whipped cream wax (which looked very realistic). The waffle looked so realistic that when I brought it to a restaurant, a waiter told me "no outside food allowed". I was very happy with the final result and it smells so nice. Will definitely be back to make some more candles!
