I truly didn't expect much since their payment wasn't guaranteed, but every time I came to the (clean, beautiful) office I was treated with respect. I was only called to appear in the office twice and didn't have to go out of my way anywhere else. I felt comfortable whenever I called to ask questions. Shereen, Sandra, and Pat were always pleasant with me and returned my calls in a timely manner. My lawsuit has been settled within a year. If i allowed Leonard continue fighting instead of accepting the very fair settlement I was offered, I'm sure I could have received a bigger settlement but this issue has already caused me so much stress and anxiety and I'm glad to be done with it. The court case was a remote CT Small Claims Court session early March. I was being sued. I paid five years earlier via a debt solution settlement company called Heartland Legal Group -- This Heartland Legal Group turned out to be a shell company - a facade - a fraud. I paid thousands and Heartland absconded with service fees, moneys and NO ACTION. Was there any consumer protection? Is there any resource? I was left with lawsuits. It is NOT that I did not pay and I have payment proof. Stillman Law's Kevin Hughes refused to even consider any portion of what I was saying, and worse, claimed he did not receive my exhibits sent Priority Express, Next Day Delivery, that had been delivered into the Stillman suite in the reception area prior to Court. Of course, Stillman Law demanded, and was awarded, Court costs and incidentals. However, with all that I now know about Heartland and Strategic Financial Solutions and the multi-state pending lawsuit brought by the AG of Minnesota, I will do anything necessary to bring these companies to the forefront where they can get the harsh attention they deserve and the disgrace that should accompany it. I should mention that I was both fortunate and blessed by one of my debtors in a December 2024 Small Claims Court to completely withdraw the action once his company learned about the dishonest dealings and details of this mess.
