Amazing customer service from start to finish! I was in the process of refinancing my home and saw I had an option to choose my own Settlement company. Upon researching, I stumbled upon Settlement Ink through Yelp. The initial phone conversation was very friendly and they gave me all the necessary information to pass onto the lender. There was no delay in the closing date and it lasted about 30 minutes with them explaining each paperwork that needed to be signed. This place seems fine but overall we were not impressed mainly due to the attitude of Joy, who is clearly over-worked and short on patience. She is very busy and does mostly all of the settlements there leaving customers with an exhausted, stressed out, and irritated person to communicate and work with. Stop looking around, this is the place. I went to two other title groups to help with research on an odd property. The other two groups were fine and I have no complaints but WOW Settlement Ink is amazing! No exaggeration. THIS IS WHY YELP EXISTS!!!! I came to yelp and for some reason the search for real-estate title and research just brings up a bunch of agents. It was hard to find this group but once I did I was so glad. Joy was my main contact (as it seems with most that do reviews on here). The property I want to do research on was complicated so she gave me advice that totally saved time and money. She spent about 90 min on the phone with me walking me through the research and my options at no charge. Firms and groups like this don't get nearly enough credit for the quality and service they provide. I wish I could give Joy an even higher review. As a heads up, this group is super busy so don't get put off if it takes time for them to get back to you. It took a bit of time for them to get back to me, but the quality of service was so high--I didn't care. I can't recommend them any higher. read more

Joy. Is. Amazing. I found Settlement Ink through Yelp and made first contact via phone with what I can say was one of the most spirited, intelligent, no-nonsense people I've ever spoke with on the phone. I was lucky to make first contract with Joy and although her entire staff is absolutely amazing, Joy is a special breed. I had just received a contract on a home that morning and explained to her that I was out in Cali for the weekend and was in need of settlement/title services and review of the contract as I was purchasing without a realtor. She gave me some very good advice over the phone that I would think one would typically pay a pretty penny for and half way through our phone call I knew she was the right individual to help me. I'm a first time home buyer that was pretty nervous with who I was going to have represent me and I must say, the Yelp reviews do not lie one bit. I retained Settlement Ink during my first phone call and from there on Joy and her team were very responsive, informative and direct. Everything I required and expected in a time sensitive environment as I was trying to close ASAP. I told Joy the day of closing I felt like I did barely anything aside from provide them a few documents they required, showed up the day of closing, signed some documents and bought a house. It was that easy. But after arriving the day of closing I realized just how much they had done in the background for me. Joy runs a boutique Settlement service, which I did not realize until my arrival the day of closing and even as a man who still enjoys three day old leftovers and is rarely impressed by anything, her place of business blew me away. Think about this, would you want to make the biggest decision of your life (second biggest if you're married, I guess) in an office with some stiff in a suit who looks at you as just another file, or with a fun, energetic, and superior attorney who puts you at ease and makes you feel comfortable throughout the whole process? I know some of you will mess up and choose the suit, this is DC, but Settlement Ink is the ANSWER. Her office is an old cottage style house in the heart of downtown Bethesda with plenty of street parking. When I arrived, her legal assistant, Fatou, sat me at the dining room table where Joy met me shortly after. She walked me through each and every document, page by page, word by word if I asked, and didn't once get frustrated or upset even as other clients were waiting. She made sure I was comfortable with what I was about to sign and more importantly that I understood my obligations as a new homeowner. Joy was a pleasure to work with and I liked that she took the time to add the personal touch throughout our business together, as a social guy and people person, that speaks volumes to me about a persons character and overall business. Three weeks out since closing I've had no issues, not that I expected any at all.
