First off I'm just gonna say this isn't a "must see" thing... I had all my bookmarks planted on the map and this was just sooooo out of the way from everything. Priority was just waaaay down the list really. The only reason we actually made it this way is because we dedicated part of this day to get out to the state line and pick up a bunch of lotto tix, go figure. And sure enough on the freeway we pass the colorful boulders! So mental note: I guess we can take some pics on the way back. I'm glad my kids were able to get some nice pics out here but I would not suggest anyone to go out and hunt for this in particular. It really is literally out in the middle of no where. I can imagine it gets scorching hot too! As islanders it was very diff to be out in the dessert. Nice to see that it can be beautiful as well. GPS did a good job leading us even though its visible from the freeway. I really wouldn't have figured out the cut off was so far from the actual spot. "Parking" is not paved or marked. Just dirt/gravel space off the main road. I do believe there are handicap stall signs though. read more

This is my second time visiting Vegas and I didn't come here the first time so made sure we came this time. I appreciate the art! I live in Vegas but never mad the trek out to Seven Magic Mountains despite driving past it a zillion times over the years. Finally went on a Sunday afternoon, November 2022, and it was PACKED. Looks cool but the novelty wears off quickly. If you want to take photos like you see on Instagram, you better know how to edit out people and shadows. If my photo from this place doesn't have a person in it, it's because it's edited. If you don't like crowds or clueless people in your shots, don't visit this place. There are no bathrooms but you're not a far drive from The M Resort in Henderson. This is definitely a one and done visit type of place. read more

We were traveling from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and decided to stop at Seven Magic Mountains for some cool photos and a great experience. I've been wanting to visit this place the last few trips out west but didn't have the opportunity until now. It was nice to hop out of the car and stretch our legs while taking in this pretty cool art exhibit in the middle of the dessert. I did some research and found the art was created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale site-specific public art installation located near Jean Dry Lake and Interstate 15, approximately ten miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Seven Magic Mountains is compromised of seven stacked colorful boulders more than thirty feet high. This is a creative expression of human presence in the desert. Seven Magic Mountains decorates the Mojave with a poetic burst of artistic color. The day we visited, the skies were a pretty blue which made for a perfect natural backdrop accenting the colorful stones. I would highly recommend stopping here on your next visit out west. read more

One thing you should know is that Vegas is gonna Vegas. Find a spot out in the middle of the desert, paint some rocks, stack 'em like Neapolitan ice cream, and *poof* you gotta magic mountain! Absolutely brilliant. Free for anyone to enjoy. It's cute. But still, in my opinion it's a far drive for a TikTok or Instagram photo opp. Unless you're going dune boogey-ing or going to your hideaway meth lab in the middle of the desert, there is no other reason you would go near this area. One tip of caution, it can be very dusty in and around the area where the rocks are. A lot of people come dressed in very nice clothes for their photo opportunity, but quickly learn that the wind and dusty conditions are not favorable. read more

I get so emotional whenever I think about this place because I went here when I was pregnant and after my son was born. Many may not see the significance of it, but I see it as a sign to travel the world because there is so much to see. This is a must see especially if you're visiting Las Vegas and a travel enthusiast. It is definitely worth the drive. It's such a cool sight to see because it's unique and it's pretty cool to ponder on it. Art truly speaks a thousand words and this structure definitely has that, and more. This is a cool photo option. I didn't read it for stars just because I think we went when the weather was really bad, it was so windy I don't know if this is normal here, but we could not spend more than 15 minutes taking photos because it was so windy and cool. This is in the middle of nowhere, so be prepared for the drive. For some reason I didn't get a wow factor I thought it would be a little bit more, I think it's just because they're literally in the middle of nowhere. But we did have fun here, you shouldn't spend more than 30 to 45 minutes here. read more

Still here as of September 2025. This is pretty much the only attraction along I-15 between Las Vegas and Barstow. While they are indeed a striking site in the desert, they might be more so near dawn or dusk, rather than at midday with blazing sun when we stopped. Unfortunately there were no toilets, no food, and no drinks. This would be a great place for a food truck to set up, as there were plenty of people present. Whomever maintains this attraction should consider arranging for porta-pottie service, adding a covered picnic area, and adding a screen covering over the interpretive signage. read more

This place is magnificent, located just minutes away outside the Las Vegas Strip, it's art work at its finest. It's in the middle of nowhere. There's 7 pillars of colorful rocks stacked on top of each other. From a distance, the view is awesome, for pictures taking purposes it is best to step back so you can see it height. It's best when the sun is setting and great for pictures. Lots of parking. If you ever in Vegas, this place is a must see, highly recommended. read more

You sometimes need to wait for the narcissistic posers getting their Insta shots or their TikTok videos, but when the coast is clear, these gorgeous statues look fantastic in the big open sky with the desert background. I know I'm about to get some heat about this, especially from locals, but a couple weeks ago was the first time I had EVER been to Seven Magic Mountains... I know, I know. Crazy. Didn't even make my way here when everything was shut down. So why did I finally decide to go? Well, I just moved to an area that makes this drive not feel so terribly long, so I thought, let's do it! I ventured out here by myself (and with my selfie stick cuz come on, this place is all about the PICS) to get some cool pics and see what the hype is all about. Note to self and to all other Yelpers, try to go earlier in the day. I came in the afternoon and MAN OH MAN was this place PACKED! I couldn't believe how many families, Instagram models, etc. were there getting their photos taken in front of these giant painted rocks. Parking is super easy, and you just exit of the 15, drive a bit, and then you can turn into a dirt lot to park. There was even a food truck there when I was there (smart idea). When you've stood out there and gotten all your photos, that's pretty much all there is to it! What does make me sad is the amount of graffiti on these rocks. And this is why we can't have nice things!!! I even saw someone marking one up and I said, "I don't think you're supposed to do that" but pretty sure they just ignored me. Definitely a cool spot to come get some incredible photos in the desert. Me and my selfie stick had a great time (even though it was a bit windy haha)! read more

Bright and colorful art masterpieces in desert! We enjoyed admiring each column and contemplated which one we shall take a photo. Without hesitation, my son requested and chose to take a photo with us separately in front of the tallest, brightest and most colorful masterpiece. If you're on a road trip from LA to Vegas...or Vegas to LA...this is a fun little pitstop. I think it's a bit easier to stop if you are going West to East as it makes it less of a detour and more of a stop along the way. My friend and I just stopped for about 5 minutes to take some photos of the pretty art installation. As you drive up, you can see the colorful rocks from quite a bit down the road. Against the desert sand, they look just beautiful. They have a parking lot they ask you to park in and then you can make the walk over. We just ended up taking our pictures from afar (no instagram models here) and were satisfied. I had heard of this artistic stop for some time so am glad we make the quick stop to check it out. This place is pretty cool, off the main road. Our tourist guide mentioned that these rocks were going to be removed but many people petition it, so it was left for tourist. They looked beautiful and very colorful, however, there were some graffiti on the rocks. My sisters and I were able to take a lot of pictures here. It was worth the experience. read more

You know when you scroll through Instagram, you'll see some photos from magnificent locations. Well I kept seeing posts for this location and wanted to see what all of the hubbub was about. After all, if people are raving about this hotspot, it was definitely time to check it out. Seven Magic Mountains is located off of Las Vegas Boulevard. Don't drive too fast or you'll miss the entrance to the lot. However, you'll see a lot of cars turning into the lot so the chances of you missing the entrance are slim. Speaking of cars, the parking situation is a bit of a mess. It's a dirt lot so cars kind of make their own parking spaces. Even the disabled spots weren't clearly labeled as cars parked all over the place. Maneuvering through the lot is just difficult as drivers give up and just park and walk. It's pretty wild! Anyway, onto those colorful rock formations.... So this is an art display in the middle of the desert. It is definitely Instagram worthy, but you'll have a lot of company while you try to get that epic shot. The crowd didn't bother me at all. Maintaining a safe distance from people was bit tricky as everyone was excited to take photos. Nevertheless, I wanted to take it all in! Basically, you have seven rock formations in which they're stacked on top of one another. Then they're painted all kinds of bright colors. Yes, they're cute! People were trying to climb up on them, which really wasn't a great idea! People walked off into the distance to explore a bit more of the adjacent land. They seemed to be having fun and that's all that mattered. I was just trying to figure out why this place attracts so many tourists to. Most likely, it's for the same reason that we came too! Ahahaha!!!! Curiosity!! So yes, we came, we saw, and we went! It's cute! I'll give it that! You'll get some majestic photos and the whole family will be happy! I think what has me on the fence with this location is that the parking lot was a nightmare. Plus, I imagined the rocks being larger so I was thrown off a bit. But honestly, I'm glad that I came. I have been curious about this location after seeing everyone's Instagram posts. It's definitely a place to visit at least once. You'll see people venturing over there at night but it is a bit dangerous as you can't see well and wild animals also call this area their home. All in all, I'm glad that we came. I would totally bring friends and family here if they've never been to the area. It is really cute, but I really felt that it is what you make of it. Art is open for interpretation and this has become a popular spot for tourists. In the end, that's all that matters! I recommend checking it out at least once as you make your way toward the casinos! read more

Tip: this place is a bit off the main road so make sure you fill up your car with gas, or charge it, before coming here. Accessibility: the parking lot for this place is on dirt or gravel, then the pathway going to the painted rocks is flat ground but all dirt. I'm not sure if a wheelchair would make it or not...it would definitely be challenging but maybe not impossible. Experience: there are always people here so there will be people in your photos. It's definitely a unique thing to see that I encourage everyone to see at least once if they can. read more

These are brightly colored stacked painted rocks in the desert, approximately a 20-minute drive from the Vegas strip. It makes for a cool selfie backdrop. I'd recommend coming early in the morning to have fewer people in the background of your photos, and, depending on the season, to avoid the hottest part of the day. You may also want to consider bringing a little tripod or gorillapod for your phone. Lastly, I saw reports online that this was closing down (being removed?) in 2022, but I was there in April and it looked the same, so I am not sure what the future holds for Seven Magic Mountains. This spot is a must visit while in Vegas. It's approximately 20 minutes from downtown, but the drive appears much quicker. We arrived at about 3pm with a few cars in the parking lot. This is a "do it for the gram" kinda scene, with beautiful, colored boulders, and the mute mountains in the back. It's definitely photo shoot friendly no matter the time of day, or what you're wearing. I wore sandals and left with pretty dusty feet. Don't wear any fancy footwear... it is the desert after all. Do it before they remove this installation. No date set, but I heard it was due to be taken down by now. read more

Went there while on vacation in Las Vegas. It's pretty nice. There really is not anything else around but it's a quick 25 min ride from the city. I would recommend coming early during the day, so it is not so crowded. The art installation itself is cool to see once in your life.
