Always see this place on the way to and from Las Vegas, but have only stopped here a couple times and was super happy to share the experience with my daughters this time! You can't miss the bright colored rock formations from the freeway, and you'll exit the freeway and travel a bit to get to this spot. There's a dirt lot for parking and it tends to be windy. There aren't any facilities that I noticed. My youngest is really into art, so I knew she'd get a kick out of these! It was a nice little spot to take a break from our road trip.
Located 15-20 min just past the M Resort Casino on S Las Vegas Blvd. This is one of those things to see just to say you have been there done that. Most see these massive rock art sculptures from the 15 if you're driving in from California to Las Vegas. Somewhat mystifying, larger-than-life, and a Free attraction is Seven Magic Mountains by artist Ugo Rondinone. These seven neon colored stacked boulder towers (each boulder between 10 and 25 tons) are located in the middle of nowhere. This art installation symbolizes the meeting between nature and the artificial. Stacked like stone cairns, these shouldn't be as captivating as they are, but it brings out a childlike wonder, and everyone who sees them marvels at them. These have faded somewhat (I was also here in 2019 so I posted some of those pictures too). This work was supposed to be relocated in 2024 but I think now it will become permanent. You will need a car/transportation to view this. There was a food truck nearby but otherwise no facilities.
Seven Magic Mountains is a free attraction, so no need to book in advance! There's parking available on-site, including two handicap spots. Just a heads-up, there aren't any restrooms nearby. The path to the Seven Magic Mountains is unpaved, so bring shoes that you're okay with getting a bit dirty. Keep an eye on the weather--it can be hot, cold, rainy, or windy. It can get crowded, so be ready for other people in your photos! Worth the quick trip to see you're heading to Las Vegas or back to California.
It's a bunch of stacked colored rocks off the side of the road in the desert. Outside of Vegas. Vegas. Where tacky thrives. It was a fun little side trip to get away from the second hand smoke that lingers over the strip. I was mostly offended by all the people who found it necessary to try to climb the towers to get photos. Assholes.
If you are driving into Vegas from California, this is an easy stop right off of the 15 right before you enter the city. It's one of the many quirky roadside art attractions that you can find in the southwest, especially when you get close to Route 66. As you would guess they are seven different towers compiled of colored boulders. There is a free parking lot attached and it's a very short walk to the rocks. It can get quite crowded at times so it's very hard to get a picture without any people in it but this is a fun little roadside stop that is good for people of all ages. Especially if you've been traveling for a while and need to stretch your legs. There are not any bathrooms or retail spots on site, but there are gas stations not that far. I would recommend.
After about 10 years of driving past this art installation off the 15, we finally made it for a visit! I am an avid collector of heart shaped rocks and I'm a huge fan of doing rock stacks on every hike I do. This place is so simple, yet so fascinating and it was so much fun to take pictures. Even with people in the background of my pictures, they were able to be edited out with the iPhone "clean up" feature so it literally looks like we were there all by ourselves. We had fun taking silly pictures and my youngest ran around making rock stacks before we left. Highly recommend for a cool, free, family fun activity. I've read rumors of it being moved locations or even being demoed to expand the airport, I hope this isn't the case due to its popularity and it stays put!
About a 30-minute drive from the Strip, Seven Magic Mountains is definitely worth a quick stop. The colorful rock formations are really cool to see up close, and it's impressive how they're stacked and balanced on each other. When we visited now, it wasn't too busy compared to September, when the crowds were a lot bigger. The only downside was seeing graffiti on one of the rocks -- it's frustrating that people feel the need to ruin something so unique. Overall, still a great spot for photos and a short scenic visit while in Vegas.
The Seven Magic Mountains is a free to visit public art installation that is on the way to the main Las Vegas Blvd area, just off interstate 15. It features 7 massive towers of colorfully painted, stacked boulders. It's truly an impressive feat. Like how was the artist able to stack these massive rocks while achieving such stability?? I went on a Friday evening, and there weren't a lot of people. Parking was plentiful. Do note that the entire pathway is dusty and sandy, so I recommend wearing a pair closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. I hope the art installation is able to stay there for a long time to come.
Was on my Vegas bucket list. The idea seems silly but is such a beautiful site, peaceful area and was so fun to see. Only 20 miles-ish from the strip! Easy to stop for 15 mins and leave. We went on the Sunday before Thanksgiving - beautiful weather slightly windy and a fair amount of people without being too crowded.
Seven Magic Mountains was a fun excuse to get off the strip and take in a unique outdoor art exhibit. Bonus points for how camera-friendly the installation is, but you won't be the only one in on that secret. Especially if you don't have your own car, know that you'll need to plan ahead for the trip. Schedule any return ride share ahead of time, bring water, and be sure to use the bathroom beforehand, as there aren't any facilities. And there's minimal cover from the sun, so dress accordingly, especially on warmer days. Worth a visit, but don't expect to spend more than 30 minutes at the site, with a fair amount of planning for a short experience. read more
This place ROCKS. Get it? Should UGO? Ugo Rondinone created this large multi-colored art installation by creating 30+ feet high totum poles out of painted "locally-sourced" boulders. You can see them from the 15, but you have to stop there for the obligatory photo op, which will likely be ruined by strangers unless you have good editing tools, timing, or patience. Usually too eager to get to Vegas or back home, I finally stopped there as a treat for my mom so she got her rocks off. According to the artist, the magic mountains physically and metaphorically represent the midpoint between the natural (expressed by the Mojave desert and dry lake) and the artificial (expressed by the flow of traffic, day-glo paint, and fake facades of nearby Vegas). The mountains are intended to be a fluid, emotional, psychological, and profound insight into human nature and nature itself. The contrast reminds me of looming, mysterious monoliths discovered by the cavemen (from "2001"), though this collection is more jarringly out of place with the intentionally artificial colors. They're who knew hoodoos. There aren't many art installations this large and photo friendly so freely accessible, so don't take it for granite. read more

We enjoyed visiting seven magic mountains. It's such a cool art display on your drive to Vegas! I've visited this spot a few times and every time we visit we enjoy! It's nice going during the winter since it's easier to handle the short distance hike to the rocks. There's no charge to come here but they do suggest donations. There's always a crowd whenever we stop by but I feel like it's worth it! It's something cool to see so I do recommend stopping by! read more

Located S Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89054. Once you exit the freeway; it is about a five minute drive. Very easy to spot. Free parking (dirt road parking) and no entrance fee. It is about one minute walk from the parking area. Decent amount of tourists when I visited on April 21, 2025. You can see the parking from the artwork, make sure to lock your cars. Plenty of photo opportunities. Kids and dog friendly. read more
Seven Magic Mountains is weird and cool. It got to visit this place while on a road trip to Utah. Its in the desert and its Hot. They did have ample parking and a ice cream truck in the parking lot which was cool. I stayed for about 15 minutes. My dog seemed to enjoy it. The rocks are huge!! and colorful. read more
I always drive by the seven magic mountains but have never visited. Finally got around to it and I'm glad we did! It was crazy windy and hot but its the desert lol. This is a large public art by Ugo Rondinone. Its made up of several, very large, stacked towers of stones. Pretty impressive just from the size. They're painted in different colors. Personally I think its some really cool art. Also great photo op. read more

I don't see the appeal... Artsy rock formations in the middle of nowhere... It a good 30 minute drive form the strip...that's without any traffic. Realistically its more like 45 minutes, especially with all the construction around Vegas these days. I wouldn't wast time coming out here specifically to see the Seven Magic Mountains. It's nice, but nothing special or spectacular. You are not missing out in life if you never saw this. I'd put this on my list to visit if I were nearby, or if it was on the way to my destination. read more
Interesting... a little art in the middle of nowhere. It is no...' international car force of the last church' it is a nice display of art in the middle of nowhere. The colors are bright and vibrant. You can see this from miles away because it absolutely clashes with dead, desert colors. It will not leave any lasting impressions, however, thank goodness people are still trying to express themselves . If you like art and personal expression, stop by and have a gander. if you're not into that kind of stuff, probably give it a pass because it is aftejust 7 towers of six rocks painted different colors... read more
Never been here before even though we have passed it numerous times going through Vegas. This time we decided to stop and check it out. There is a nice parking area and a short walk to the stones. We enjoyed the little walk and the art. read more
I don't go out of my way for it but I love Americana. And the seven magic mountains definitely fill that need. I hear it's leaving soon. Getting moved to different location so if you get a chance, come check it out. When you're coming in from California, you will see it right from the road, and it's free for all to see. read more

Ah... after so many years of driving passed this site, finally made it out to see it once before it moves up to Reno. (of course it would take this kind of news to get me out here to see this thing) For years, I had been driving passed it going to/from SoCal, and never once had considered stopping by to check it out. My friends and I had decided to make a little trip out here after having lunch to check it out once before it goes away. Funny how the sign says it opened up in May of 2016, it is now the end of 2024... Took me 8 years to get out here HAHA... oops? You can reach this place either by traveling to jean, turning off, then following signs toward this place or just go southbound on Las Vegas Blvd from St Rose and you'll eventually get here as well. Unique little art piece. Never really had been a fan of art so I'm not the best person to ask how I appreciated or interpreted this kind of thing LOL At least I can say i've visited it at some point. In other words, there is an actual labeled parking area with a small trail that leads to this. No painted parking spot lines but be weary on where the entrance or exit is. Most people tend to just turn at/near the exit. read more

Beautiful stop on the way out of NV into CA. Excellent photo opportunity too. Sadly although the signage asked for patrons not to vandalize or mark the rocks, some morons decided to tag them with graffiti. Otherwise it's very pretty and peaceful. read more
The hype still happening. This mini art display its one of its kind. For one, its hard to imagine how they got the stones on top of each other and I even wondered if the very top ones are indeed stones It is a fun art project. Catch it a different times of the year or even time of the day and the views and experience would be slightly different. Its slightly crowded. Paid parking. Portable restrooms available. Paid for TP. I believe there is a snack truck there too. Quite a business going on there. Still fun and worth the stop on your way to Vegas or California. read more

South of the Vegas strip off a side road that runs parallel to the highway is this colorful, fun and scenic visual art installation...stretch your legs , tak a look, take a picture and move on....dont make a special trip, but, if you're heading nearby, good for stretching your legs read more
Opened in 2016, the installation of colorful stacked boulders that make up Seven Magic Mountains display, is located just outside of Las Vegas. It is prominently displayed on the Southeast side of Freeway 15, about 21 miles from Caesar's Palace on the Strip. It has over 1,000 Yelp reviews, which is one indication of its popularity. We stopped as we were heading into Las Vegas from Los Angeles on a Sunday morning. With an early start, we were able to enjoy the sunrise as we crossed the desert and still have time to stop by the display in the early morning. There is a large unpaved parking lot off of Las Vegas Blvd, which you exit onto from I-15. From the parking lot, there is an open gap through the barbed wire fence, and perhaps a 10 minute easy stroll from there to actually be able to touch the 'mountains'. They range from 30 to 35 feet in height, and give the impression that this was the site of where Gigantes children played a game of rock balancing for amusement during their vacation, before their parents called for them to leave. In reality, each boulder was cored and either an internal pole was used or long screws were used to prevent them from toppling over. Even though it was only supposed to be displayed for 2 years, due to its popularity, it has been extended indefinitely. Thinking the rent for the land can't be too expensive. It wasn't too crowded when we came, and people are in/out pretty fast. The colors of the rocks were vibrant, and later learned that the structures have been repainted twice since it opened. This is one of those things where pictures are better than words. I wondered if at any time of day it gets crowded enough for a taco truck to set-up shop...the answer is 'Yes' per AI. This place has been on my bucket list for a long time! I finally got to stop on my way out of town to San Diego and it was such a cool experience. We don't like crowds so we went at sunrise before anybody showed up and had it all to our selves. We were able to take a ton of photos however it was extremely windy which made it annoying lol. There's something about this place that I just love. I know some out there could care less about painted rocks but these things are huge up close and make the coolest photos. If you're into photography like me, definitely visit here. I want to go back before it gets removed! I have so many photos and different angles but only attached a few but I want more lol. read more

Seven Magic Mountains is like the rainbow Stonehenge of Las Vegas! It's large, cool, and you're not quite sure why it's there or why you're there! In any event we took some cool photos here. It's super colorful and looks pretty cool with the mountains in the background. It's about 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Pretty cool if you're headed that way! read more
Cool outdoor art construction. Seven stacks of colored rocks. At the front there's a placard talking about the history. The drive there is very clearly marked. There's a small parking lot which was quite crowded; getting pictures without other people in it is near to impossible but that's ok because all humans look tiny compared to the rocks read more

Off to Las Vegas for Christmas, with a little sightseeing to ! We're all excited to see those vibrant, rainbow-colored stone stacks that brighten up the desert... well, almost all of us. It's a little dusty for the car and air condition. But great spot to take some family photos! read more
I never knew about this place as I normally fly to Las Vegas. It is a cool place to visit and take some pictures if you driving to/from Las Vegas. It's off the South Las Vegas Boulevard which runs pretty parallel to the 15 freeway. It was a very hot day with clear skies so I'm glad I checked it out as I'll probably be going back to flying. I included a photo of the plaque explaining the Seven Magic Mountains project but I think it would be better to say it's the Stone Henge or Easter Island for the U.S. read more
I have lived in Henderson for 23 years and I have not visited Seven Magic Mountains since its introduction in the middle of the desert in May 2016, but I've seen it from the freeway a couple of times when returning home from our many road trips to California. On a day when it didn't rain, I decided to come down here and check this magnificent landmark out. I got there quite early in the morning so it wouldn't be too packed. It wasn't busy but there were a few people here and there posing for pictures and posting them on their social media accounts immediately afterward. With it being unusually warm for the month of January, it was a very nice day to see what Seven Magic Mountains had to offer for me and for everyone else. There were just endless angles to take pictures from! If you're coming into Nevada from California or if you live in Nevada and want to check this landmark out just for kicks and/or get your social media influence on, I recommend it! read more
Pretty cool spot to stop on your way to Vegas. There's a parking lot which is nice and convenient, but you still have to walk a little to get to it. The artist that put this together is Ugo Rondinone. The colorful rocks are about 35 feet tall. It's pretty cool to stop and take some pictures. Walk around a bit and head to your destination. From what I have read online this was supposed to be a temporary display, but because of its popularity it will become a permanent display for now. read more
We were leaving Las Vegas and on our way to Los Angeles. Nadine suggested we stop at the Seven Mountains. I have never heard of it before. It was seven stacks of colorful rocks stacked on top of each other. Those stacks are huge and high. It makes for a great photo ops. I'm glad Nadine showed me this place. Thank you! read more
This place is pretty neat. It is about twenty five minutes drive from our hotel. We decided to go here this morning. The weather was cloudy with slight rain and very windy. It was cold. There were plenty of cars and people here when we went here. There were a lot to park the car with several parking spots left. This place is free to visit. The view at this place was nice. Seeing the stacks of colorful rocks with the Mountain View in the background were great. There is not any hiking trail here. It is a place that people visit to take pictures. read more
We had seen this online and thought it was worth a stop but it would have required us driving 8 miles out of our way and then back tracking that 8 back ... we had already drove all day. So I stopped and used my zoom on camera and got some shots from a long distance away. The pics that people had were better actually being beside the sculpture to get more prospective of the size but franklin it wasn't worth the extra time and effort given we were driving from California to Utah ... long drive. read more
For all those times I have been going back and forth to Las Vegas, it never occurred to me to stopped by here. Finally, one hot summer day of driving through I stopped by. It is a good Pit Stop going to and leaving Las Vegas. You can see it from the Highway too but it is different when you are up close. Wear your comfy shoes when coming here, stony and unpaved. Plenty of parking lot but no public facility. Colorful and odd art in the middle of nowhere. read more
This is a nice pit stop for some photos. Just 30mins before heading into Vegas. Be sure to take a pit stop at Terrible's to potty if you have little ones because there is no restroom. We arrived just a little before sunset but there were a few groups so we didn't get too many photos. But worth the sunset the views does seem to be "better". If you love selfies and photos and are driving, a good place to stop by for a quick stretch. read more
We just landed from Harry Reid International Airport and the 7 Magic Mountain is just 20 miles away going I-15 S it has a parking area of 20 or more cars. Good timing is in the morning cause there are only few spectators. So me and my friend got all the photos we need. You just have to have a jacket/beanie cause it's cold and windy. A cute and quick pitstop at Seven Magic Mountains is a great way to spend some time with family, friends, or solo! Heading to the magic mountains is a drive past the M Resort and Casino. Its large boulders balanced in the middle of the desert that brighten the desolate landscape. Just a spot that's bringing life to the outskirt of Las Vegas. If you're worried about it being a hike- don't fret. It's only a 2 minute walk from the parking lot. Plenty of space for photo ops! read more
This was an interesting quick stop on the way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. It is an art installation of massive colorful boulders. There is a parking lot, and people go in and leave quickly after taking a few photos. It was extremely windy and sandy when I went. read more

About 10 miles south of Vegas (towards LA) off I-15, out in the middle of the vast desert, is Seven Magic Mountains. Seven giant stacks of painted boulders. It's massive, it's serene and it's absolutely worth driving out to. It was our 2nd visit, but just as magical as the 1st time. We'll definitely be back. read more

What time of day would be best for photographing the mountains?
We went in the morning and it was great. There are no lights in the area, so I would definitely try to go before it gets really dark.
Has anyone tried to go here and leave here via Uber or Lyft?
You can probably take a ride service here and ask the driver to wait if you don't plan on staying long. It's about a 2-3 minutes walk from the parking lot to the structure. I would think that Uber/Lyft would probably take forever to come pick you…
Is there some kind of off roading to get here? Can a regular car make it? Thanks so much.

Are their any transportation companies that will pick up/drop off at the strip? (More reasonable than taking an Uber/Lyft).…
The total rewards hotels Caesars, rio, Ballys , Paris , harrahs, there are a few more have a shuttle that will take you to and from their hotels.. No others that I know of..…
