In the Jewelry District in a security building, 6th floor, right in front of the elevators. It's always exciting to go to the jewelry district because there is such a mix of people there. Some may be wearing or carrying thousands of dollars of jewels (or cash) on them. Not I. I do carry cash when I go to the mart, but I whine about the cost of parking. If you go on a Saturday, parking is less, can be under $10 for the day. During the week, parking can be $15 an hour or more, that does not induce relaxation or lingering. Take the light rail or dash bus and you have that covered. On Saturdays one third to one half of the stores may be closed, that could be a Jewish thing, as that's their sabbath or it's just because they're wholesalers. I was there because I wanted a pair of pearl stud earrings. I had been to the shops on street level and gotten prices but had not found a pair that screamed "take me home". We went into the 607 building because I have bought diamonds here on the top floor. Each suite is secure and they will buzz you in. Georges brought out a tray of about 75 of the size pearls I wanted and created about 6 pairs for me to choose between. After I picked, he set them with the gold wires and I went to lunch while the glue dried. A totally smooth transaction. I would buy again. While I was there a couple came in to buy a Mother's Day gift. They were repeat customers, having bought pearl necklaces as bridesmaid gifts for their wedding. The tiny baroque pearl on my wife's engagement ring had worn away to nothing. We were lucky to find Seven Seas. We worried that a large wholesaler would not be bothered with selling one small pearl, but they treated us like valued customers. I doubt that any other jewelry store could size the pearl and then place 100 loose choices in front of us. The most fun I've had in weeks! After we chose the pearl they asked if we could come back in two hours. Two hours! When we got back, they had replaced the pearl and given the ring a new plating in Rhodium. I just received my necklace and I have to say, it is really stunning. It is beautifully well matched, with the pearls with the greatest orient and luster, and the largest in the center as it should be. It's a gorgeous depth of color with a nice sharp reflection. Honestly - look no further for pearls! I've been to many stores in the DTLA jewelry district, and the selection, reasonable prices, and amazing customer service at Seven Seas Pearls simply cannot be beat. First off, Georges and his beautiful wife Rula are amazing. They are knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating and not pushy at all. I believe Georges spent some years in Japan for his pearl business, and he speaks Japanese...that should speak volumes about his passion and knowledge for pearls. The first time I was in the shop, they spent almost two hours with me, teaching me about different kinds of pearls, and talking to me about what it would take to make my designs that I had in mind. I had such a great and informative experience with Georges and Rula that somehow 2 hours flew by in the blink of an eye, and they sent me off with a list of reasonable prices, and a bunch of different options with their beautiful pearls. Fast forward a year, still indecisive, but this time I was getting married and my mother wanted to give me a bridal gift. I reached out to Georges and Rula and they remembered me! I wanted to see if their prices still held and if they could make one of the designs I'd chosen - they were honest and said since it wasn't their design, they could do it but it would take about two weeks to make (so not in time for my last minute wedding). I appreciated their upfront honesty, and went in anyway. Let me tell you, my experience was even more magnificent than the first time. They really bend over backwards for brides because they want to make it special - they let me try on just about everything, and again, no pressure to buy. I ended up falling in love with a large pair ~14mm white south sea pearl studs. Georges gave me multiple options (round, near round, flawless vs some flaws that can be hidden in the back, etc) and we were able to find a gorgeous pair that I could have on my wedding day. I hadn't even thought of studs, but with their excellent taste, I found the best option of all, and at an unbelievable price. I also got my mother a beautiful pearl necklace, as a "mother of the bride" gift...also at an insanely great price. My mother and I had one of the best moments of our lives together in that shop, I definitely have Georges and Rula to thank for that... we all took pictures together at the end of it! And per my mother who does not like to shop, we will be coming back here to get my little sister's graduation present :) Every experience I've had with Seven Seas Pearls has been wonderful. WOW! I can't say enough good things about this company! I needed to get my pearls restrung, but wanted a place that knew about pearls and would do a good job and of course one that I could trust. So naturally I felt the best place to start would be Yelp. There were many jewlers out there but after a couple of calls I found they would not actually be doing the work. They would be sending them out for repair. This didn't sit well with me. So I kept looking and then Seven Seas caught my attention. I called and the lady that answered was fantastic. (I assume now that it was George the owners wife) The price for restringing was also great. But that is because they only sell and deal with PEARLS. They know everything to know about them. I went in and met with George. We discussed the restinging and I was so comfortable and confident with him, that I decided in addition to restringing my pearls, I wanted to also extend the length of my 29 inch akoya necklace to 33 inches. I had them back within about 3 days. He matched them perfectly, in color, size, and lutser. They are just BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much George. You have a customer for life!!! read more
