I reached out on Yelp to ask for a quote to set a pair of loose diamond round earrings in 14k white gold. I was quoted $300 for 1.5 carat total weight. Please keep in mind, at the time of the quote, gold was valued at $5100 per ounce and when I visited, it dropped to $4600 per ounce. I came in, and was told it would be $400-$450 because my total carat weight was in actuality 1.58. I let them know about the estimate I received, to which she angrily said, this is why I hate it when they do online quotes, because people don't know what sizes they have. And then she also got upset because she doesn't know who gave me the quote because of the way Yelp profiles are set up. My mistake for the sizing, but it's not even a full 1/10th of a carat weight. An extra $100 for 0.08. I would understand an increase relative to the weight, had it been 2 total carat weight, that's completely reasonable at half a carat per $100. She said it costs $200 to source the settings, and it doesn't include the labor to polish and clean the item. She started stuttering when she was trying to justify the pricing, so I knew she was lying. A quick google search tells you differently, and they have access to warehouse pricing, so let's be real, she chose to arbitrarily charge more because she felt like it. I left and went with another local jeweler, where they gave me the exact same setting for $300. Don't take what they tell you at face value, do your own research, and make sure you don't get swindled by this business trying to take advantage because they think you don't know any better. read more

I called in for an emergency, or what I thought was an emergency. I have my engagement photoshoot tomorrow and I woke up and saw a massive black smudge in my diamond. I didn't know what it was! I called Burbank Jewelry Outlet and told them about my dilemma. The sweetest woman on the phone said, "don't worry, get here before 4pm and we will figure it out for you." I dashed out of work, went to battle on the 405 to the 101 to the 134 to make it to them by 4:15pm. They still took me. I was greeted by the woman on the phone, she saw how frantic I was and must have known immediately that it was me. She took a look at my ring and said they're going to try to help me. Another woman came up and looked closely at the ring. She said she's going to do her best to make sure everything is okay. She took my precious back with her, I heard a loud pressure steam coming from the back like my ring had been teleported to Mordor from Lord of the Rings. Clearly my ridiculous mind led me astray and I needed a glasses of wine to ease the anxiety. She came back to me holding with my precious in her fingertips and lo and behold, she's shiny and perfect! The black smudge of Sauron was wiped away (lint) and it looked brand new! I couldn't stop thanking her and told her she saved my shoot! She had the biggest smile on her face, truly from the heart. Come in with a friend because she was picking up a ring and asked if they fix rings, putting stones back in etc and how much they charge. First of all, the staff is super friendly and helpful, I'd come back just for the customer service. Secondly, their price to fix my jewelry is unbelievable. I had gone to other places and had yelped other jewelry locations they were all asking for $100+ for a simple fix on one ring. I payed way under $100 for what I had done. I got a silver ring's stone put back on that had fallen off and a gold ring stone replaced because it fell off and I never found it. I love this place! Thank you, other Yelpers, for leaving reviews! I had been wanting to repair three sterling silver rings for a long time and I trusted this place because of the good reviews. Sterling silver band repairs start at just $10, that's the cheapest I've ever found! Two of them had a cheaper filling decoration on them so they had to be repaired with a laser method for $15. One I enlarged for an extra $5. The lady said it might take two days because of the laser method, but then the next night she called to tell me they were ready! I came in the next morning and picked them up. They take credit, debit and cash, so that was convenient. Now all three fit great and they are back on my fingers. I am so thankful this place was able to do the repairs. Other places have told me it wasn't worth it to repair the ones with the cheaper filling decorations on them, but this place used a laser for just $5 more than their standard repair price AND the repairs are perfect! Thank you for making it possible for me to wear these rings again. My grandmother gave them to me and she has passed away for many years now. I was referred to Zaven and his amazing selection by my brother, who also bought his engagement ring from the same shop. Truth be told, I was referred to the shop by my brother's wife--she's the one who has the actual good taste in the family. Putting aside the massive selection of jewelry, the true gem of this place is in their custom-work. Again-- my brother got a custom ring and so have I. I'd like to make a correction/update to my previous review. Within 12 hours from my posting, Zaven immediately gave me a call to apologize for my experience and made it clear that what I had experienced was completely unacceptable. I learned that his business is growing and that there were some growing pains, in which he was trying to figure out the right balance of his involvement in the day to day operations. He emphasized that this was not an excuse and apologized that my numerous emails and calls had unfortunately not reached him. Zaven was extremely sincere and it reminded me of why I wanted to work with him in the first place. He offered to do our wedding bands to make it up to us, which we agreed to give it another shot, and Zaven went to work immediately. He has been so responsive and quick with everything. He looked into different avenues for us to pursue and provided his honest feedback for many of my questions, which I really appreciated. We received one of the finished wedding bands today and it's absolutely gorgeous! My prior experience was an outlier and I can confidently say that Zaven is one of the most amazing people to work with. He has taken the learnings from my previous experience, and I feel confident that he will not let the same negative experience happen to anyone else moving forward. This shop is fantastic! I got engaged and decided I didn't want a ring, but my future mother-in-law talked me into it, so fiance and I decided to browse and get a feel for what I wanted. This was our first stop and the woman who helped me (I think her name is Sarah) was so helpful and kind! She helped me scope out settings that I might like without any pressure whatsoever for us to buy that day. I was impressed so I hung onto their card. I browsed the big stores in the mall and was super turned off by their pushiness. I went to another jewelry shop in another city and though the rings were gorgeous, the price wasn't right and I had a good feeling about Burbank Jewelry Outlet. I emailed them a photo of a setting I really loved and they responded pretty promptly, letting me know how much the band would cost. Zaven sent me a list of all the diamonds they had in their inventory, but I also have concerns about natural diamonds because of the industry. I inquired about lab-grown diamonds and moissanite, and he didn't try to make me feel awkward about spending less money. In fact, he actually suggested I get a moissanite because of its great value. We emailed back and forth quite a few times and he gave me an incredibly reasonable quote. I was confident that he would do this the way I wanted, and I was so pleased with the way they took care of me, so I decided to go for it. A custom ring requires a $200 deposit. From there they send you a digital rendering of the ring for you to make any modifications. Once they get the ok from you, they get to work, and it takes between 10-14 business days. Balance is due when you pick up the ring. They sent me the digital mock-up and Zaven preemptively answered a question I would have asked. After I approved the design, the ring was ready in a week and a half, which was much shorter than the time they quoted me. They provided a certificate of authenticity for the stone and Zaven asked me what I thought. Great customer service from the moment I popped in to the moment I walked out with my ring. I called Burbank Jewelry Outlet late on a Friday because I needed my boyfriends gold chain repaired before he left for tour that following Monday. She told me to come then and they fixed it in 5 minutes. Just the fact that she squeezed me in at the end of a busy day because I needed it fixed in a pinch was so sweet and helpful. When I was waiting for the necklace, I remembered I had a ring in my wallet that I had stopped wearing because some of the prongs holding the diamond had worn down, and I had already been quoted $140 elsewhere to fix it, which I didn't have at the moment. So I showed her out of curiosity. When I showed her and she quoted me $70 to fix it, I didn't hesitate. HALF OF WHAT I WAS EXPECTING TO PAY!! When I came to pick up my ring, I decided to bring a necklace my mom made me. She had paid $100 to set a diamond in a setting she already had. The people who had set it, set it crooked and bent my setting. At Burbank jewelry outlet, instead of charging me for a new setting, she offered to have her setter look at it. He fixed my setting and re-placed my diamond for $45. For $115, I fixed 3 very valuable pieces of jewelry. Less than I was going to pay for 1 piece. They now have a forever customer. I've never been treated so nicely. Also, their prices are fair, they are realistic with how long it will take them to get things done, and everything I have had done from them has been beautiful when I picked it up. Thank you so much!
