I am the one to read.... Years ago, almost ten I decided to get a free tattoo of a lotus with geometric design. Fell asleep and woke up with a monstrous looking artichoke top of an ice cream. i needed it covered so I looked around me for the best tattoo coverups available. I refused to get it messed up one more time. I reached out to Doug, made an appointment to go over there so he could take a look. Got there and he was so kind, and understanding. It was a very easy setting to get comfortable in the shop. Put down a $200 deposit because we both agreed that a half sleeve would be needed to cover. In the meantime we had emailed back and forth about ideas, references and some background on me to get the perfect design. When it was time for my actual appointment he came in a little early to make sure I could get it done in time to pick up my daughter from daycare. Which as a single mom was the sweetest thing. The tattoo process was so clean! I mean the smoothest one I've seen ( yes I have tattoos that weren't free) they got me water. Offered snacks. I got to watch my show too! I just visited Seven Swords Tattoo for the first time. I had my eyebrows microbladed by Emily and I absolutely love them! She is knowledgeable about her work and eager to answer questions & produce the desired result. I had two tattoos done the other day by Reece. One was a cover up & the other was a bit of an awkward design that I came in with and he really took the time to edit it and help put it together and it looks absolutely incredible, better than I could have ever imagined. The cover up also looks incredible. This was the best tattoo experience ive ever had, they were super clean and covid conscious, installed air purifiers, strict mask policy & they provided a k95 that was really comfortable through the process, temp checks, etc. Reece was incredibly nice, communicative and really talented and the other artists there when I was were also friendly! 5 star experience and 5 star tattoos :) read more

Just got home from another amazing session with Josh Teague (aka Hamper_Tattoos on Insta), and I am absolutely floored at how awesome this shop is. Josh has worked on me 3 times before at another shop, but since he moved to Seven Swords, this is the first time I'd been in. I read the other reviews about the shop before I went in this morning and was impressed. Now I see why. Every single person who works there is top-notch, friendly and welcoming. It can be awkward to go to a new tattoo shop, but these folks were so amicable, accommodating and welcoming. They work incredibly well as a team, and every single person who walked through the door or called while I as there was greeted courteously, assisted in a timely and respectful manner. The shop was spic-and-span clean, well-appointed and maintained with an impressive selection of flash, taxidermy and historic tattoo realia bedecking the walls. The restroom was spotless, as were the work stations and everyone was joking around and generally having a good time. The music was on-point and not uncomfortably loud. Because he's my fave local tattooer, I have to give props to Josh, but I also wanna give a big, heartfelt shout out to Shannon , who let me invade her workspace with my boots and made me feel welcome. I got a small red finger tattoo of a serotonin molecule a year ago. I read a lot of reviews and had been told not to get a finger tattoo because of fading and blowouts. I have admired this shop for some years now and had always wanted a tattoo from Seven Swords, sadly that won't be happening. I had emailed the shop about getting some work done and had an appointment with Carlos. I am not from Philadelphia, and had some stuff come up which led me to cancel my appointment. I emailed Carlos about this and asked if my deposit would be refunded. Apparently deposits are not refunded. Carlos informed me that it is noted on the website. I went to the Seven Swords website and it is nowhere to be found, regarding deposits and whatnot. I went to Carlos's website and after searching for tattoo deposits or any information about tattoos and policy's; one had to search WITHIN the website. Plainly put, you have to do a little digging to see that deposits are indeed not refundable. I gave well over a months notice about my cancellation. I wish that during the initial discussion about setting up a tattoo appointment that Carlos would have been more clear about his intentions and policies are. As simple note about this would have been better rather than just taking my deposit and kinda sending the message of "you're screwed out of $100" Hopefully next time they can be a tad more forthcoming about deposits and whatnot. read more

I initially discovered Seven Swords Tattoo Company through a recommendation from a tattooer in New Hampshire. I couldn't be happier with my in-progress tattoo, Myke Chambers and SSTC. I went to Seven Swords specifically to work with Myke but have come to appreciate and admire all the artists at the shop. In my opinion Seven Swords is unique in that you'll get a great tattoo no matter which artist you choose and a bonus is the friendly shop environment. If you aren't local to Philadelphia I'm sure you have many tattoo shops much closer to where you live. However, when you consider the quality of the artists and shop I think you'll agree that taking a drive to Philly is worth the time (I live in Connecticut and gladly drive a total of eight hours for my appointments). The bottom line is that SSTC is welcoming, professional, stress free and is staffed by fantastic artists/tattooers. You'll be happy with the whole experience not just your new tattoo. read more

I gave a vague explanation of what I wanted and expected to wait for his drawing when I got there but he already had an amazing drawing done and it exceeded my expectations! This place is as clean and professional as you could possibly want. All the stations look like you could perform surgery on them! I've looked at work from all the artists in this shop, and it's all high quality. My own piece is being done by Myke Chambers, the owner. I initially asked for a single medium-sized piece, but in thinking it over, made the commitment to go for a full sleeve. Myke took the changes in stride, and was able to communicate well with me about the design and to help flesh out my vague concepts into a cohesive design. Seven Swords is one of the, if not the cleanest, tattoo shop I have ever stepped foot in. As soon as you enter you can tell how much pride Myke and the rest of the crew take in keeping the shop clean and professional. The quality of care and professionalism of the shop is carried over to the tattoo artists attitudes and their work. The artists were friendly and eager to help anyone and everyone who walked in the door. I was fortunate enough to get a piece done by Myke but the other artists were constantly busy with their own clients which says a lot about the caliber of their abilities as well. As far as Myke goes, I couldn't be more happy with his work. His attention to detail is second to none. He is overly OCD in the most complimentary way which is exactly what I want when an artist is putting something on me that will be there for the rest of my life. He will check, double check and triple check his work to make sure he didn't miss anything and it is exactly how it should be. Myke's years of experience are clearly obvious in all of his tattoos. To top it off Myke has a great sense of humor, is friendly and approachable, extremely humble and has one of the most beautiful singing voices I've ever heard ;). I flew in from out of state several times to have Myke do this piece and I would do it all over again in a heart beat. I have zero regrets and truly believe it was worth every penny. I know he doesn't see it this way but I feel it was a privilege to have him accept my idea and tattoo me. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo by Myke, stop thinking about it and do it, you won't regret it. Sorry for giving the shop a low rating because this is for just one person that works there.. I came in looking to get a certain tattoo which I brought pictures in to show what I wanted. I talked to a certain tattoo artist and he said he could do it I would just have to make an appointment and leave a 40 dollar deposit which I did. I couldn't make my appointment so I emailed him to cancel.. he never responded back.. at all. I would of rescheduled. I guess he really needed that 40 bucks. If that was the case I would of just gave it too him. "Don't be greedy, feed the needy" lol anyways I got my tattoo done by a "professional" artist and it came out perfect. Before I say anything else I will say, world class tattooing, beautiful shop, clean, courteous and welcoming. This is a new shop in Philly opened by Myke Chambers. If you're not familiar with his work, just Google his name. He is a world class tattoo artist and has assembled an amazing staff of artists. This is by far the nicest shop I've ever had the pleasure of being tattooed in. The attention to style and detail are reminiscent of some sort of stylish tattoo museum with the walls completely adorned with amazing flash and the occasional taxidermy wolf greeting you around a corner. It's clear that Myke went through a lot of trouble to make his vision tangible in this shop. The staff is super friendly and you can tell that they're having a good time and love what they do. There's no condescension. Although Myke is my artist of choice, you really can't go wrong with any of the staff. They're all at the top of their game and are creating some really bold, beautiful and impressive work. If you're thinking it's time for your first tattoo or if you're going full back piece, I would 100% recommend going to Seven Swords. You're in good hands, trust me. read more
