Erin of Sew 4 Life is a very capable repair person but even more she's a gifted and talented restorationist. My 1947 201-2 is sparkly clean, properly lubricated and adjusted AND properly rewired and is working like the day it was new. I have several other vintage machines she's helped me with as well, with similiar results. I really love vintage sewing machines and it's a rare thing to find a repair person/restorationist who understands and supports vintage collectors in addition to servicing modern machines. I recently acquired another Featherweight in ok shape that will need some restoration to it's case lining and Erin is a wizard at these also. Last year I subscribed to her service online and enjoy continued learning and regular machine "spa" days to keep machines well-maintained and running smoothly. I renewed this year and will continue. Please note: this business requires you schedule your appointment online and pay up front for the services. I wrote to reschedule the appointment and was told it would be rescheduled. I was never told when that appointment would be and so after the original appointment had passed, and I had had no replies to any of my emails. I reported this business to PayPal. The owner wrote me back a terse email (she finally responded) and cancelling the rescheduled appointment that I was never told about. She said she was refunding my money. I waited for 9 days for the money to appear in my account. My email to the business asking about the refund were ignored. 3 days later I replied to a follow up from PayPal. PayPal sided with me and the money was finally refunded. The owner then sent me a nasty email. Here is a complete itemized and detailed list of the exchanges so you can judge for yourself: interactions with Sew4Life 1. On 8/27/2024 I completed the online form for scheduling repairs. I scheduled the service for 9/17/2024 and I paid for the service ($106). I received confirmation that I was scheduled. 2. On 9/9/2024 at 3:48PM I sent an email (which is the only method for contacting this company) stating "I'm going to have to be out of town on the date I scheduled for my sewing machine repair (it is currently scheduled for September 17th), how do I change that?" 3. On 9/16/2024 at 10:04AM I sent an email stating "Just wondering if this has been cancelled and if I need to reschedule this online? " 4. On 9/9/2024 at 5:51PM I received an email saying "Thank you for letting me know. I can take care of it for you and make the change. Just let me know what day and time works best for you." 5. On 9/9/2024 at 7:45PM I replied "Thanks so much for your understanding. Any day after the 18th and anytime works for me. " I did not get a reply to this email. 6. On 9/16/2024 at 12:16PM I received an automated message reminding me of my session for 9/17/2024 7. On 9/16/2024 at 12:41PM I replied "I canceled this back in an email dated September 9. I am out of town and won't be back until the 19th." 8. I received no reply. 9. Two days after the previously scheduled appointment had passed-- On 9/19/2024 at 10:00AM --I filed a compliant with PayPal. 10. On 9/19/2024 10:54PM I received a message from the business: "I have already rescheduled your appointment like you requested. The reminder that you received was an automated reminder from the booking services. There was no need to send a complaint to PayPal. I will refund your money and cancel your appointment. Have a good day." 11. On 9/19/2024 at 10:55AM I received an automated message stating that I was receiving a refund of $106, and that my appointment for 9/20/2024 was cancelled. (Note: I NEVER received an email telling my my appointment had been rescheduled let alone the date) 12. On 9/28/2024 at 3:13PM I sent a message "Could you tell me how this refund was processed? It is not in my paypal account." I did not receive a reply. 13. On Oct. 1, 2024 at 1:30PM I filed an update to my original complaint at PayPal with the details I'm sharing here and the auto reply stating my money was being refunded dated 9/19/2024 14. On Oct 1, 2024 at 5:04PM I received the following message "It is unprofessional to schedule an appointment, request a change of an appointment and not to show up to it and then file a dispute. Your money has already been refunded via your original form of payment on Aug 27, PayPal will now handle it. Please do not reach out to us again." read more
