My son has ADHD and needed camp counselors that understood his needs, had patience and understood him. WKC provided all that and more. Previous camps told me they wouldn't be able to keep him in camp due to his needs. We have been going to WKC for 3 years and my son can't wait for summer! A few things outside of what I already mentioned that we love WKC for is the constant adventure, new experiences and always active days. My son comes home tired, happy and with stories of something new he did. We are so thankful for the memories we get to make each and every summer!

And they just seemed like they were fed up with everyone and everything I got to care and wasn't even graded with a lock. I was just greeted with a get in line and they searched through my backpack first but yes I get it but still invasion of privacy and if you didn't have any like one thing they were charging your account for it they were charging five dollars for a bottle of water. It's insane not to mention the counselors were threatening, and I was told many many many times that if you guys don't behave, this will not be a good summer and we will make sure of it and also me and my friend made a mistake and we were yelled at and screamed at and it just made our entire day bad and we started crying. It sucked. I've seen other reviews about it and also the bus driver was also not very good and I feel like he wasn't following many traffic rules and they seemed fed up if one of us got injured and that's just what kids do. They were just mean and we were screamed at often and I really didn't like it. I was in the Explorers group 11 to 13.

Their curriculum never repeats so all of the projects are different and they use a wide range of mediums so you get to try new and different ones at every class and they provide all the supplies so all you bring to class is you. Just this past year I have used charcoal, chalk pastels, watercolor, Prismacolor markers and acrylic to name a few. The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are structured so that at the end of each one you have created a finished work of art ready to frame. Best of all, they welcome all skill levels so you never feel intimidated even if you are a beginner like me. I came in thinking I might just sip something bubbly and leave before midnight. Instead, I danced for four hours straight, made new friends, and now have a very blurry selfie that might become a family heirloom. The setting was gorgeous, by the way. Big open spaces, cool lighting, and just enough art and architecture to make you feel elevated while also clutching your clutch and screaming the lyrics to "Mr. Brightside." The vibe was party, but in a classy way. Like you could go full glam and not feel out of place, but also not feel judged if you kicked your heels off before midnight and went rogue on the dance floor. Which I did. No regrets. Would I go again? Already planning my outfit. 10 out of 10, would ring in the new year under a disco ball surrounded by Salt Lake's most unhinged and best-dressed again.

The last time I touched watercolors was in elementary school art class. I'm not a great artist, but…read moreI'm adventurous and always willing to try something once. I found The Art Cottage and learned that they do watercolor classes-and figured I'd give it a try. You do need to call or go online to reserve your spot-space is limited. I called and was able to get in easily for the day and time that worked for my schedule. I showed up a few minutes early and was setup at my station with paint, paper & brushes. I was ready to go! The class was brief-I learned a few basic strokes and techniques in watercolor. Gradient painting where you start very light and work your way into the darkest version of a color. I also learned the "wet on wet" and "wet on dry" techniques and when it would be appropriate to use each. I also learned how to fix mistakes and turn them into more intentional pieces of the art. I really channeled my inner Bob Ross turning things into birds and clouds. After the instruction, I was set loose to do a painting. There were some binders full of examples to provide inspiration, but no step by step instruction, which is different from other canvass/acrylic painting classes I've done elsewhere. I applied the techniques I had learned in the lesson and some suggestions from the instructor. Although my painting might not be one worthy of hanging in a gallery, I enjoyed myself and would recommend taking a class to anyone who might be mildly interested in watercolor.
