Today's visit to The Leo was courtesy of the Connect Pass I purchased during my short vacation to SLC. While I agree with other reviews that the museum can seem a bit underwhelming - particularly given DaVinci's genius in multiple disciplines - I was blown away by how much I enjoyed the AI show. It takes place in the Idea Room and I just could not sit idly during it. You have to get up, move around, look about and take pictures. Given the prevalence of AI in our world now, it also gave me quite a bit of food for thought. Very friendly staff and a pleasant enough way to spend a couple of hours during vacation.

If you want a watered down museum, this is it. It's a Science museum, a few historical tid bits and various work stations. I was hoping for a traditional museum and a proper walk-thru. As an adult I was entertained for a brief moment. I'm sure as a kid, this place would be great. My nephews were working that piano though. I liked the huge Lego station though. Overall, I wouldn't return, unless the nephews wanted to come back.

Just wish there was more. My kids enjoyed the flight simulator and the art area on the second floor. I wish that the beautiful white lifelike things would have actually been functioning properly. I think the concept was cool just would have been nice to see it in action. Also the video in the large room was having issues. Overall I would go again if in the area.

This was such a disappointment. They charge $16 per adult and $10 per child/student. At one time, this may have been a cool place, but it is old, tired and much is now broken and unusable. Whoever is running his place ran it into the ground. The cost is very high for a few old and terrible displays with many broken monitors and projectors. The water discovery room was literally a huge empty room with about 10 photos on the walls of people playing in water. Our family of 6 was bored to death here. Save your money and find a better spot like Thanksgiving point museums, Dream Walk in Orem, or even Clarke Planetarium or the zoo. Whoever is running the Leonardo should be ashamed of themselves for taking money for that broken old run down place.

I love the Leonardo! It is one of my favorite museums that I've been to. Salt Lake has some really really good museums and this one changes exhibits and is super modern, really fun, and a joy for anyone interested in learning and currently they have a flight exhibits and are all about that which is really neat. They always have interactive exhibits that make it fun and engaging for anyone of any age.

Great museum for kids! They have a lot of different stations for kids to see and participate in. Upstairs art area was a favorite.

Nice flight exhibit that was opened at the museum. The admission right now because of COVID is $5 per person which isn't bad just wish they had all the other floors opened but due to the pandemic only the first floor is open at the moment. Staff is friendly and many interactive activities for kids and adults.

Where do you go with an energetic twelve year old with an engineering mind? I'd highly advise you check out the Leonardo-it won't disappoint! There are so many wonderful hands-on exhibits that will entertain youngsters as well as adults. (Check out my wife playing along as if she were twelve herself!) There are staff members throughout the museum to help answer questions or encourage creativity. There were a few things that required some explanation, but overall it was easy to enjoy everything. I am strongly considering getting a family pass for Christmas so we can go back often-especially when there are special exhibits or events going on.

AC (alternating current) running half a million volts through the tower. Audience ate it up! Thanks Tesla!

Came to the Leonardo to view the Body Exhibit, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the general cost of admission was only $9 (half of the cost is covered by the church/charity in Salt Lake)! This museum is very interesting to run through, bringing back images of countless hours in bio, art, science, etc. - all rolled into one area! The Body Exhibit was definitely interesting, as you delve through the human biological makeup, and see the body dissected in such a way as to view the inner workings. A LOT of kids and families are present, and they end the exhibit with the process of 'preservation' that enables you to see the bodies in the exhibit. Oh, and the Tesla lighting was quite the treat as well! Half a million volts of alternating current run through an amplifier and humming the sound of its people to the diverse age mix in the audience. Last thing! If you come and buy a ticket, you also get 1 free admission ticket for another time!.. at least I did, so don't blame me if you don't. ;)

I watched a guy in my aerobics class drip sweat globs all over the floor and mat, then walk away. Gross. I was the last person out and not a single person came into clean. The same with the weightroom and the pickleball court- no one wipes anything down. The only attendants in the place are a couple of nice college kids at the front desk who smile and wave then go back to their screens. You walk around the space and although there are plenty of members, it feels vacant and neglected. Not to mention their sporadic fitness classes. With no pool September-May, can you really justify $95-175/mo for two strength classes in the morning and one at 6p, and no evening classes at all Thursday-Sunday?? Momentum Climbing Gym has four Utah locations, amazing climbing walls, yoga classes AND weightroom for $60/mo. Just saying. Not to mention that the JCC classes are often taught by non-certified, 'soft' U students who seem to have gotten their routines from YouTube. The JCC management is more interested in collecting your money than providing an exceptional, sanitary experience. They act like they are doing you a favor instead of the other way around. In fact, I recently contemplated a small claims case and assault charges after one of their fitness coaches put his hands on me. I had purchased a six-month family membership through a fundraising auction for the Humane Society and when they found my resistance to a rude, handsy, out of shape "coach" (for a ski conditioning class that would have actually cost me an additional fee), they voided my membership without reimbursing me for the remaining months. I was in shock. Let me preface by saying that I was fine terminating the membership as I only wanted to be by a pool (despite their incredibly uncomfortable plastic lounge chairs) and they close it right after Labor Day. Plus, it's a 30-minute drive for me that includes college and hospital traffic nearly 24/7. I already belong to two other fitness centers closer to home. But their behavior calls into question whether you want to trust this gym to treat customers with respect. They are well within their rights to banish me but they should not be entitled to keep my money! Check out this policy sited from the CEO when I demanded the return of $350: The JCC has "the right to terminate memberships and/or deny entry at its discretion." And they keep your money?! Sounds like fraud to me. Do you really want to join a club that operates this way? They don't like your clothes, your smell, your dissatisfaction, your religion, your bluntness and you're out... and we keep all your money. Just think twice and then go somewhere else where they value customers. In the end, I decided not to fight in court because my friends reminded me that I can still get the tax write-off as a donation to the Humane Society. Now THAT is an organization that deserves my money.

This museum was very manageable and not overwhelming. We went on a Saturday evening and it wasn't packed at all. The kids loved the real outdoor helicopter, the large truck, the construction area, the awesome market, the cute cookie shop, the bus with card reader, the gym with the scarf wind tunnel and balance bikes, and the Lego race car building ramp. The kids were all really well-behaved and so many of the caregivers were supervising and involved in the imaginary play with their kids which made for a good experience. The exhibits are well varied which keeps things interesting. It was clear that some things are very new and some things are very old and worn out. They force you to walk through the gift shop to leave. The Legos and car bases are ready to be replaced with new ones. Parking was available but the North Garage payment system is pretty confusing and hard to use because there is no cell service down there. The staff at the museum would not help us validate our parking because we left at closing.

This old building has been totally and sleekly remodeled with homage to the past that respects the amazing bones of the building. One of my favorite buildings in the city. Perhaps my favorite part of the building is the rough hewn timber columns and joists that serve as the raw skeleton. Plenty of exposed brick walls also abound, and I'm completely charmed by the old spiral slide that used to shuttle manufactured goods from the upper floors all the way down. It's been preserved and gives incredible character to the space for weddings, parties, fundraisers and more. This is all coming from the point of view of an attendee; to date I've never worked with the fine folks behind the building and have only attended events in the space. They host some pretty remarkable events, so I've got to think they're on top of things. When they're not hosting events (and even when they are), the building is home to all kinds of offices from the tech to the more mundane.
