Location: Sew N So in Clovis Date: July 18th 2025 Service: Alterations Recently went to Sew N So in Clovis Location first time at this location. I usually go the one on Blackstone unfortunately they are closed due to on vacation. I went to drop off my special needs child pants to be altered. Once I arrive there was no staff on the premises doing any work. They informed me it will be a three week delay pick up wouldn't be until August. I was at that location for a few minutes. I only asked them when I can pick up town no cost or funds were mentioned. I took the clothing item and went to different alterations place that stated pick up will be within one week. Not worth the drive to go to Sew N So on Herndon when your items won't be ready for pick up until August which is absurd. We definitely will not be returning to this Sew N So location. This is the first time ever had any issues with any alterations at any business establishment. This location requires to find an effective way and positive way to communicate with their customers to inform them with an example such as a visible sign that states there will be a delay in picking items for the customers. read more

I brought in two shirts that the owner fitted for me a month ago and I just tried to wear them and they didn't fit. He made them extremely tight and non-wearable anymore. He didn't apologize for his error. Instead, he tried to claim that it wasn't his work. Two new shirts that I just bought for my new job and had him size for me and he lied and said it wasn't his work. He told me I did this with 12 other items in the past, which is completely untrue. I walked in to check out the place yes I'm interviewing the location & staff before I take them my long dress to be hemmed. The gentleman was unwelcoming I'm not even sure he said hello. He made little to no eye contact and appeared I was bothering him when I asked what it would run to hem a long dress; but I'm sure he hears that question daily. He said he would need to physically see it not a picture, it starts at $50 and by the way it will take four weeks, as he finally glances at me. I found a collection of several souvenir patches that I wanted sewn onto a canvas backpack that I bought while urban exploring in Haight-Ashbury two summers ago. I thought a backpack would be the perfect place for them since I travel and hike with this backpack all the time. I had a hard time finding a local tailor shop in the central valley that was willing to do the work. The most common reason for refusing the work was that sewing the patches were going to be too difficult for the sewing machines to reach for where I wanted the patches located. Then, I found Sew & So Alterations here on Yelp and I am so glad I did! I don't know the owner's name but he's an incredibly friendly gentleman who was very enthusiastic about the work I was asking of him. He complimented the patches and we made small talk about hiking with small children. He was extremely polite and his customer service was (is) top notch! He took pictures of how I wanted the patches arranged and over the course of two separate sewings he was able to fit all of the patches exactly where and how I wanted them on the panels of the backpack. The cost to sew 34 patches was $100 which I thought was very reasonable given the difficulty of getting each one straight and oriented on thick canvas. These patches have a lot of sentimental value to me so I'm thrilled to be able to showcase them this way instead of leaving them tucked away and forgotten in a drawer somewhere. I'll be returning if I am ever in need of custom tailor work or a sewing job. I highly recommend Sew & So Alterations! I know there is another business with this same name in Fresno on Blackstone so I don't know if these are the same parent business, but this review is specifically for Sew & So Alterations on Herndon Avenue in Clovis. read more

Hiep and Mia are a pleasure to work with. They have altered many items of clothing for me and they do excellent work. I even brought in a sweater a couple of months ago - a brand new cashmere sweater with moth holes in it - to see if they could recommend someone to repair the damage. Mia offered to try and fix - honestly I wasn't sure sewing could fix this damage but was willing to see. Mia saved - yes, SAVED! - this sweater from being an expensive Goodwill donation. I bought 2 dresses online which were quite long on me. Took the first one in to wear for a special event and it turned out so good, I took the 2nd one for hemming. I highly recommend this location. The couple is very sweet and work hard to make the items look as good as new. The only thing is to know that if there is a time specified on your ticket, the item will be done at that time (I learned by trying to pick up the 2nd dress early). I rarely need alterations done but I went in for a minor liking of my jacket and I was flatly rejected service by a guy who stated that "we don't do repairs l. We do alterations". He didn't even take any time to look at my jacket. It is not a repair where there's damage that needs salvaging. I just needed a the liner replaced entirely. Poor customer service. Bad attitude. Don't care about the customers wants and needs. I would not recommend this please to anyone. There are other places that offers excellent customer care as well as service. read more

Came here because of the reviews but was disappointed. Ask for a simple hem on a (1) pair of fabric pants, even marked it for them. They first said $20. Said it was too much then they said $15. Ok, since I needed them in 4 days and driving around town would of cost me more. Pants were done on time and the work was good. The rating is based on the initial price, $20. Even $15 for a simple hem on fabric pants is too high. Had pants hem before at different locations and they are no more than $10. The quality is the same. Maybe you might have a better experience maybe not. Good thing there are many good options out there. It was your location. You don't have my name because it was under my girlfriends name. read more

I have used them a few times at the other location and I thought I would give them a try here. I needed the waistline adjusted on a nice pair of pants that I thought salvaging. The place is nice and everyone is very professional and pleasant. Big and spacious dressing room just like on blackstone as well. I asked for rush alter since I need it for an event and agreed with hessitation and was surprised he didn't charge extra for it. He agreed to take it out by 2 inches My disappointment came with my pick up. I found out due to technicality with the way this designer made the pants, he could only alter half of what we had agreed on. He just went ahead and did it anyways without even calling me! I would have expected a phone call and I would have told him not to bother and I would donate it. Instead I am stuck paying the full bill and now I am still going to donate it.
