The first step was turning on the water. Ours is located in a utility closet off the laundry room as we have no basement. The technician could not locate the turn on and kept saying she found most turn on valves in the basement. We have no basement. After a few minutes I suggested we reschedule if she was not confident about she needed to do. The technician was promptly out of the house and did not acknowledge me calling after her to ask if there was anything I needed to do. I called the office and received no sympathy or apology for the problem. They need a course in customer service. The earliest they had was 18 days away. Both the owner and individual I spoke with first had no interest in trying to work me in sooner. The owner came across to me as irritated by my call. On top of all this they sent me a bill almost immediately after the technician left. They have also sent me a reminder, but say they have canceled the bill. They were great as AK Irrigation.

Over the years they have done winterization and inevitably the back-flow explodes over the winter and needs to be replaced. Obviously the system wasn't winterized properly. They were never bad enough to look elsewhere and convenient enough, so I let it go. This past winterization trip I could tell that the technician had missed several zones as my phone alerts me in real time as to when a zone runs. When I went to talk to the tech and mention he had missed a few zones, he started slamming things in his truck. He was angry with me - why would I have zones disabled!? The order was for five zones?! That zone doesn't show up on my phone!!! I was aghast. Huffing, puffing and slamming the air hose around, the tech reconnected and blew out much of the same zones again yet not some of the ones I mentioned he missed. Later the tech texted me that he isn't "usually short" and apologized. Thanks, I guess. I immediately emailed the main office and their response was to get me scheduled two weeks out to have it redone by another tech. No apology. No explanation. No back pedaling. No mention of having addressed it with the employee. I told them to forget it and I would look elsewhere. At that point I got an apology for the "miscommunication". There was no miscommunication. Their technician was simply out of control and over the line over nothing. There are so many irrigation companies, it's not worth the heartburn to deal with whatever is going on here.

I really wanted to like this company. However when they replaced my hot water tank several months…read moreago, unbeknownst to me, to make the new, larger unit fit, the tech shortened my washer drain. In doing so, the washer drain isn't tall enough anymore to properly drain, and there is a deeply curved 'trap', (that wasn't there before), that causes the water to rush back up and out of the drain. I had asked the tech at the time about all the 'left over' PVC pipe pieces, but he'd assured me it was from the old tank- when in fact it was actually my working washer drain that he'd removed and replaced with a shorter pipe, with a very curved 'trap'. He did this in order to make the new tank easier to install, he failed to reassemble the drain properly after removing it to install the tank. The back of the washer/drain/hoses/etc. are all in a separate room than the front of the washer. It's accessed clear on the other side of the house through a tiny door next to the fridge in the kitchen. I've went in there once to change my furnace filter months ago. I noticed the concrete floor was a bit 'damp', so I put a damp-rid in the room and thought nothing more about it- bottom line, my washer has been draining into this small utility room and flooding for months! There is actually mold on one of the wall studs now! I'd noticed my new flooring warping near the furnace intake vent, but couldn't understand why. It's the only place in the house that my new flooring is warped, chipping. I know now it's from the water leaking under the furnace in the utility room and seeping under the laminate flooring! Am I stupid for not realizing this sooner- yes, I admit I am. Is Discount Drains responsible for their tech tampering with, and ruining my washer drain- yes, yes they are! They are also responsible for the mold that occurred and the small area of warped flooring as a result of their mistake. I have contacted them, and I was told they are sending someone out to, "dispute the mold." Not a very courteous response at all! If they repair/replace the washer drain so it functions properly as it did before they ruined it, and address the mold they caused as well as replacing the affected floor boards, I will remove this post, however if they refuse to repair the washer drain that their tech ruined, and clean/repair the mold, replace flooring, I will have no choice but to litigate for damages and will continue to strongly suggest not doing business with this company! I trusted them to do the job right, and instead they caused damage to my home with their incompetence! I'm super disappointed both in their workmanship and response to my issue!

We also hired them to run a new water line to put an outdoor hose in another location of our house. While it may seem odd to have a FaceTime quote, the process isn't that much different than someone who comes to your house and does a surface level check only to find out when they begin the work that things are more complicated than they seem. The good news about the process is that it helps expedite the process so our jobs were completed much more quickly than quotes from other companies (I.e. by the time the person schedules to come look, prepare a quote, and then schedule the project installation much more time has passed). Everyone we worked with was friendly, efficient, and professional. The bonus for us is that our second project was actually cheaper than they quoted because they found a much easier solution when they got behind the wall to see what had been covered up by previous owners. We had an irrigation system put in with our new build home and the system was designed well and has…read morealways functioned great for us (~2 years old now). During our first summer in our home there were a couple areas where the spray heads weren't quite reaching some far corners of the lawn. After contacting Brad (who has been phenomenal), the crew was quick to come out and make the adjustments to the spray heads. We have had Polaris Irrigation come out to winterize our system annually and turn it back on in the spring and they have always been responsive and prompt. Most recently we had some underground repair work done in our yard by our home builder this December and in the process the irrigation power line was damaged. I contacted Polaris Irrigation, and as usual, they were quick to respond to my needs and quick to get out here to fix the issue caused by someone else. I would highly recommend Polaris Irrigation as we continue to use them for our own irrigation needs.
