Overall, Aspen Park is the easiest disc golf course in Omaha. It's flat with wide open drives on every hole. There are a few trees around some baskets that require skill shots, but such shots can easily be avoided most of the time. Pros: A fun course for a quick round when you want to avoid the crowds at nearby Seymour. Also a great place to practice some distance drives for more skilled players (especially hole 7, which is a whopping 600+ feet). Likewise it's a great course for beginners, as there is nothing intimidating about the course and it's pretty much impossible to lose a disc. Cons: Like I mentioned before, there's not much challenge to Aspen Park. Every hole is literally straight forward. Also, it sits on a flood plain for the Big Papio Creek, so expect it to be a bit marshy for a couple days after it rains.

Unfortuntaly there was no direct handicap access or ride on handicap equipment like i have seen at other sites. One interesting thing about this park is its quite spread out. There is a splash pad area, playground area, tennis courts and baseball diamonds but they are all hundred feet or more apart. The tennis court area looks to be getting some pickle ball courts but i couldnt tell for sure. There is street side parking that is on the same side as the park and a private parking lot but it is clear at one end so might miss it until you are leaving! The covered areas with picnic tables are pretty decent size. Roughly 6 x 10 person tables in them. There is a creek/water run off that separates the baseball areas from the rest which does have good fencing protecting it. If you have allergies beware the surrounding cottonwood trees! Felt like it was snowing at times which is funny until you breathe it in haha.

It really has a lot to offer and me and my kids love going there. The downside is that it can get crowded and sometimes with older kids on the playground that make me less comfortable with my 4 and 2 year old. It's a great park and lots to do. I think the paved walking path is a little over one mile around.

I spent about 10 minutes walking in one direction and then had to turn around to make my appointment but in that 20 minutes, I fell in love with this place. The trail itself is really lovely. You can tell that it is very well maintained and not overgrown next to the path. The small bridges for pedestrians to walk over along the path are a nice touch as well. So much of the trail is shaded and this was a particularly cool day which made me excited to come back in the fall and see the leaves change. I saw two deer while I was there both somewhat close to the path and completely visible, and I passed a handful of other people, enjoying the trail that day, including a handful of leashed dogs which are allowed on the trail. The trail is six or 7 miles long so definitely plan for a long day if you plan to do the whole Lake, but there are two loops that you can do in a shorter amount of time or you can do what I did and park at one of the parking lots do a small walk and then turn around and go back.

The park is a quiet space which includes various athletic fields (baseball, basketball, tennis) and a well-maintained fishing pond stocked with catfish, bass, bluegill, and trout in season. The park features plenty of green space, shade trees, benches and tables, and walking paths. We had a nice afternoon with the kids, catching lots of little panfish in the pond, all released. Parking is free in the large dirt lot, but more that as best we could figure, the only bathroom facility is a portapotty near the baseball diamond. Hidden gem.
