On our way back, having just scattered the ashes in the Pacific. Golden Gate Bridge is in the background.

We contracted with Capt. Dave and SF Bay Boat Memorials to scatter my late Mother-in-law's ashes in the Bay. Her name was Fritz, she and her husband were active sailors, and her late husband's children had scattered his ashes on the bay. We decided that Fritz should join him. The cruise was easy, safe, beautiful, and uplifting. The cruise took us under the Golden Gate Bridge and we scattered the ashes in the Pacific. Capt. Dave and his son could not have been nicer, professional, and compassionate. They did everything right and have our highest recommendation.

And Betty's moment of sorrow was made lighter by the care that Captain Dave and Michael lavished on her.

Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! From the moment you board and are greeted by the crew, you know you're in good hands. The safety instructions are thorough, and the crew immediately puts you at ease before setting off. Whether you have a clear night or a little fog (like tonight), the skies are beautiful, the Golden Gate Bridge is magical, and San Francisco twinkles in the distance. The crew meets your every need with kindness, excellent service, and genuine interest in you as a passenger. They're also an interesting bunch--just ask them about themselves! Hot (chocolate!) and cold beverages are available for purchase, including adult beverages. For out of towners...Wear and bring layers. Jacket + sweater/fleece, long pants, beanie hat, gloves if you have them. Blankets available onboard. This is SF Bay 12 months a year - always chilly and the sail is worth every layer of clothing. We celebrated my birthday tonight, and it was perfect. Thank you!

The crew was all smiles, good cheer, and skillful work. They carefully crafted an amazing experience, allowing us to get married with the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay as our backdrop. The captain of the boat, Rowan, made a difficult experience better. He used his phone and speaker to play the music she had wanted for her funeral. She had also wished to be in the Pacific and have peonies be part of her ceremony. He chose a cove near the Golden Gate Bridge, where the waters of San Francisco Bay mix with those of the Pacific. The currents would take her out to the Pacific, where she hoped to be, recalling her young womanhood in Santa Monica. I didn't want to scatter her ashes--having to lose one more thing of hers, and I also wanted to avoid the risk of the ashes blowing back on us--so I bought a biodegradable container. Rowan offered to set it in the water for me, along with the peonies. I watched it until it sank. Rowan circled the boat long enough to allow me to see it until I was comfortable with leaving. Thank you.

Our captain, Mark and first mate, Ruby, checked in as we sailed out to see if we wanted to try to go under the Golden Gate Bridge as the weather started a bit rough. But we did and it was magical! Everyone (many who never sailed before) and those who had loved the entire experience! We plan on going back for a fun adventure soon! Thanks so much!!!

They'll talk to you about the whole process and even let you steer the ship while the sails are up! Plenty of drink options. Basic snack options. Be sure you're bundled up!!!! They have blankets on board but don't underestimate that ocean breeze when you're on open water. Each time they have done a different route so it continues to be new eating h time I go. Dick has easy access with stairs or ramp. Public parking is adjacent to the marina. Come early and take a stroll through the main drag of Sausalito. Never disappoints. Will be back!

Captain and crew were all friendly and welcoming and the naturalist was informative and excited to share her vast knowledge and experience. The crew intentionally included young people on board with raising the sails and such. Fun for them, and honestly fun for us to watch them learn through hands on experience. They serve up lots of beverage options during the trip, both with and sans alcohol. We went in early September and the weather was absolutely perfect. A bit chilly at first, which is to be expected, although we were able to shed a layer about halfway through. In addition to the overall gorgeousness of the Bay, we also saw lots of wildlife, mostly birds and harbour porpoises. The docking location is perfect, with nearby public parking, and lots of restaurant options if you plan to grab a bite to eat before or after your excursion. This is definitely a fun experience for both locals and visitors and something we will happily book again.
