IMHO I had to go to…read morea SF Public library to obtain a library card, in order to have digital access to the New York Times. I like playing their word games and puzzles and used to have access through my San Jose Public Library card, but due to budget cuts, they limited access to the NYT's games. I figured my solution was to get a card that gave full access! San Francisco, here I come! As I walked through the doors of this small neighborhood library, I was brought back to my childhood, where these small libraries had tall wooden bookshelves, Dewey decimal system wooden card drawers, and heavy-duty wooden study tables and chairs. What great memories! After securing my new library card (with a SF 49ers theme!) I was re-acquainted on how to access my NYT's! My librarycard is good for four years after which I will need to renew!

Forgot to ask her name but she has the prettiest nails. Their restroom was fairly clean.

these amazing police officers deserve a whole lot more love and respect than they actually get --…read morein my opinion. few nights ago i had a very scary situation happening outside my gate. Three thug types were trying to break into the gate and potentially house while i lli was sound asleep! i don't know what caused me to wake up bc there wasn't any noise, but when i did i knew immediately something was wrong and looked at the camera and saw them out there. i turned all the lights on and called 911. About 10-15 cops showed up within minutes and were right away making sure everything was safe and that these guys weren't hanging around nearby. Two officers came up to talk to me and tried to calm me down bc i was really freaked out by all this. They were super kind and helpful and gave great advice on what the owner of the house i'm renting should do to secure it and reassured me that if these thugs came back they would have a hard time getting into the house AND to keep my phone next to me and call right away if they came back. Cops have really tough jobs and these days little respect. Especially living in a city like SF where they favor criminals and police have to deal with so much politics and BS just to be able to do their jobs. Their jobs are to protect us! The leaders of this city sadly want to make that hard for them. That is super sad. They came to my aid in literally less than five mins, probably more like 2 or 3 mins and likely prevented the situation from escalating into something far worse! I love the officers at Taraval station and they've always taken good care of us. i will for sure miss them when i move in a few weeks, and hope that in my new home i don't have to call the police as much as i've had to while living here in Sf, specially the last few years. Thank you SFPD, and especially all of my favorite Taraval Station officers! you're the best!

A relative in Taiwan passed away, and we had to send notarized power of attorney docs to our family…read morethere so they can start processing his estate. Needless to say, it's important, and the ordeal involved us running to the consulate a couple of times to get those papers notarized. To ensure the papers arrive ASAP, I paid for the more expensive shipping option ($75). USPS lost the mail. Somehow it got sent to Bosnia. Crazy, right? The mail literally went in the opposite direction. Worse yet, since it's been returned to the US, it's treated as an import item so it's been stuck in NY customs for the past MONTH. It's been 1.5 MONTHS since I mailed it out, and it's still stuck in customs ON ITS WAY BACK TO ME. During this time, we actually went back to the consulate and re-notarized the exact same docs. Sending it out this time with Fedex or DHL. I went to the Bayview USPS at 1300 Evans, and they were actually a bit more helpful. They looked at the receipt and said the West Portal office missed some things I was supposed to fill out. For example, I needed to put a dollar value, even if it's $1. Also, I can't just write "documents" in the item description - it needed to be a lot more specific (what the docs are, how many pages, etc). The 1300 Evans office explained that it was on the agent to double check and make sure I filled out the forms correctly. Yeah, no one here did that. I'm not sure if I can trust USPS again. I've been hearing from people about their own horror stories with USPS. Someone's package got sent to SF, then went to Oakland and San Jose, before coming back to SF again... it literally went on a joyride around the Bay Area! But if I MUST use USPS again, I'd probably go to the 1300 Evans branch - they're bigger and way more knowledgeable.
