Well, I don't think it has to be overwhelming and if you choose the right real estate agent, you may find this to be the most exciting experience of your adult life. I lived in California my entire life and my wife accepted a promotion and relocation to SLC. Her company was kind enough to fly us out to SLC to check out the scene and see if we liked it, before we made the move. While she was preparing for her interviews and work-related meetings, I took to Google to find a real estate agent to show me around and help me understand what to expect. Mind you, we were planning to rent for the first year, get a feel for the area and figure out what fancy suburb to call home. I found Lori Anderson on Google and we began a lengthy and very detailed email exchange in advance of our trip. Lori was kind enough to pick me up at the hotel and drive me around, showing me the older neighborhoods, the not so desirable neighborhoods and explain the costs, best time to buy, current market conditions and it was clear she knows her stuff and has answers. In fact, she even pointed me in the direction of a website to help us find an apartment. Lori added me to the email listing distribution, based on our proposed budget, size of the home we hoped for and selected some neighborhoods that we might like. Every few days, I'd get an email with available homes and I'd save the favorites for later discussion. This is a good time to discuss etiquette. We went to probably 50 open houses in the span of 3 weeks this Spring and met a ton of agents. I gave my phone number and email address, mainly to get an idea of what else was on the market that maybe we didn't see (not much and nothing worth looking at, is what I discovered) and boy oh boy. Some of these real estate agents are way too pushy and called or texted or emailed way too often. Lori, on the other hand, was not pushy at all. In fact, she basically let us do our thing, would check in on the favorites I added to my dashboard on her website and ask if I wanted to see the homes. It was the absolute perfect level of service, considering that we really were not in the market, just window shopping. My wife and I had lunch with Lori to discuss all the fine points of buying a home, because we were aware of the market heating up and didn't want to sit on the sidelines while others found their dream home and we sat in a funky apartment. How much do we really need for a down payment? How do we get approved for a mortgage, in a city where we don't know anyone? Basically, Lori put me in touch with a mortgage broker and explained all the questions I should ask, to get the facts in place to make an informed decision. Soon after that, we fell in love with a home and it was full steam ahead. I had never made an offer on a home before and I was overwhelmed. Lori and I talked through the price during our second visit to view the home and she was extremely thorough and brutally honest. In fact, she walked the entire property to check the gas connection, get an idea of surrounding open space, noting that her assistant would contact the city to see if they would be allowed to build on that space. She contacted the selling agent moments after we left, to see if the solar panels were paid for or leased. She is extremely organized and focuses on the details, so we didn't have to stress about not knowing what we were jumping in to. Our offer was accepted, and we were in the 30 days to close phase, which is when the heavy lifting happens. Lori did a ton of heavy lifting on our behalf and basically cleared our plate of stress and worry. If there was action needed on my part, she would text and say, "email coming your way, need some signatures" and explained what we were dealing with. She scheduled the inspection for us and knew a guy that was good and available quickly. She worked with the selling agent to get all the invoices in place for the maintenance records and when we received the inspection report, she contacted the seller, asking them to make the necessary repairs in advance of closing day. She contacted the title company weeks in advance of closing day, scheduled our appointment for first thing in the morning, so we could close and fund early enough to get the keys the same day. It was a thing of beauty to watch her working behind the scenes to make this happen and to make it a very smooth and stress-free process for us. As I sit here today, working away in my new home, I feel like Lori is part of our family now. Without Lori working her magic and making us feel confident and comfortable, we wouldn't be home owners today. I almost want to buy another house, just to work with her again. Thank you for all you did to help us find our dream home.

We tried a garage/Estate sale without much success. Got too many scam inquiries on Craig's List and KSL. Big time waster! No on wants used old fashion style furniture. We also had an additional issue of a huge water color art collection of hers that I didn't want to throw away. I contacted Handley through an auction company referrel. Guy came out the next day, assessed the goods and had a quote back to me that afternoon. He was super professional and so very nice. Fortunately they had a cancellation the next day, so were able to clear out everything in one day....including all of my Moms artwork. He carefully treated each piece with TLC and asked her name to personalize it to advertise it on his sale. His crew were equally as nice and never complained about having to move everything out of our basement and up a steep side yard to their truck on the street! It was such a relief to have all of that handled for me, so I can close that chapter of my life. I highly recommend Handley if you need this kind of estate service! RIP mommy.

My experience with BTeam Liquidators, specifically Lou and Kathy, was extremely disappointing due…read moreto poor communication, disorganization, and unprofessional customer service. After winning an auction item and paying my invoice, I received an email stating pickups were available by appointment only from Friday, May 22nd through Monday, May 25th. The email instructed customers to either schedule through a SignupGenius link or text (801) 503-4014 to arrange pickup. The SignupGenius link did not work properly and would not allow me to schedule an appointment. There was no indication that creating an account might be required. I followed the alternative instructions and texted the provided number on Saturday, May 24th at 9:54 AM: "I need to set up a time to pick up Invoice #595586." I received no response. Because auction companies often charge storage fees or dispose of items not picked up on time, the lack of communication created unnecessary stress, especially since my credit card information was already on file. After still hearing nothing, I sent another message Sunday at 12:38 PM: "Your email told me to text this number to set a time to come pick up my order please respond!" This time I received a response within three minutes: "We are here until 3 come get your stuff." I had already made plans for Sunday because I intended to pick up my items either Saturday or Monday, both of which were listed as available pickup days in the original email. I replied asking whether Monday pickup was still available since the email specifically referenced Monday appointments. The response was: "We are not available after 3 today." With limited time remaining and the location being about 20 minutes away, I felt pressured to immediately change my plans and rush over to avoid risking fees or losing my items. Unfortunately, the experience worsened once I arrived. There was no signage, organization, or indication of who customers should speak with for pickups. I approached a woman later identified as Kathy, who was assisting another customer. I respectfully waited several feet back until they finished. We made eye contact multiple times, so I reasonably assumed she would assist me next. Instead, she began walking away without acknowledging me. I had to stop her and say I was there to pick up my items. At that point, another individual, later identified as Lou, stopped what he was doing, and both appeared visibly irritated by my presence. I provided my invoice number and item information and was curtly told, "It's over there." After retrieving my item, I calmly suggested they revise the wording in their pickup emails because customers may not receive responses when texting for appointments. The response was dismissive and unprofessional. The overall impression I left with was that Lou and Kathy either dislike dealing with customers or are overwhelmed and taking that frustration out on paying customers. If they do not want to manage weekend or holiday pickups, that is entirely within their control as business owners. However, if they offer appointment-based pickups and instruct customers to text for scheduling assistance, those communications should be monitored and customers should be treated professionally. Good customer service requires basic communication, organization, and professionalism. Unfortunately, my experience with BTeam Liquidators lacked all three.

Nutshell: Lou's lack of follow through, failure to communicate, dismissive response when asked a…read morereasonable question about a contract, destruction of valuable property and refusal to remedy the situation in any way are all incredibly unprofessional. If he's too busy to respond to clients, then he's stretched too thin and can't be trusted to do the job properly. Full story: I had a disappointingly unprofessional experience with Lou and B Team. I had inventory from a vintage reselling business to liquidate and contacted Lou to see if that's something they handle. He assured me it was, and explained that he could either buy the inventory as a lot, or we could liquidate it piecemeal using his personal online auctions and eBay. We decided to do a trial run with a subset of items worth a few thousand dollars. I set up an appointment and delivered the discussed items, expecting to receive a consignment contract or at the very least a receipt. Lou said he'd send me the consignment contract in the following day or two. After four days had passed, I checked in and Lou said he'd have it to me by the following Monday at the latest. Monday came and went, and when Wednesday rolled around with no contract, I reached out again asking when I should look for our contract. Nothing. The next day I reached out again, and Lou's response was that he was really busy and I could either wait until he got around to drawing up the contract, or I could come get my items. Now, several of my items were already listed on his eBay account, and I had provided him with an itemized spreadsheet documenting the inventory I had delivered. This is his business, shouldn't he have a consignment contract template he can just cut and paste the specifics into? And he had time to list my property for sale but not to email me a contract? I was feeling unsettled, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because I really wanted to find a vehicle for offloading the old inventory. When an entire month had passed with no contract, the unease was too much and I told Lou I was going to come get my property. We arranged a time, and when I got to the warehouse, neither Lou nor his wife Chris were there. Instead, a man I had never met let us in. As we unloaded things from their shelves, we discovered that the top of a stained glass lampshade had been smashed. It had broken pieces of glass dangling from the solder, and tiny shards of glass around it that would only be there if the break was recent. I took pictures and before removing it, pointed it all out - tiny shards and all - to the man who let us in. He told me that he couldn't do anything about it, but that I should reach out to Lou, who he said would make it right. I sent Lou the photos and asked how they handle it if a client's property is destroyed by them, rendering a previously valuable piece worthless. At this point I was completely unsurprised to receive no response whatsoever. And, since he never gave me a receipt or contract, I don't have any legal recourse. We've speculated that perhaps the smashed stained glass was WHY he refused to put anything in writing. All in all, I cannot recommendation B Team.

Great customer service…read more My wife had her hat snatched after putting it down for a minute at a sale. The VCS team was very kind and helped us look for it. A few hours later it was discovered in the back of a closet and they gave us a call. Way above and beyond. They're always walking the floor asking if you need help, and they're happy to help load big items. Prices are very high unless you snag something on a Sunday when items are half off or more. Some unsold items may move from one sale to the next; they'll let their clients keep select things on consignment for a few weeks. Good communication of sales via email and lots of pictures included.

That they buy stuff from thrift stores and must have forgotton to reprice and mark it up. That the pice should be doubled. Really! Do the people who rely on them to liquidate their estate realize the sale is diluted and is not simply showcasing estate inventory? And REALLY, they don't honor price stickers!!! I've heard to stay away from my wife and her friends. That they have a bad reputation here. So in the future I will avoid VCS like the plague.

My friend was tickled pink with the extensive advertising, and also with the fact that Jodi's estate sale ended up being the vehicle by which the real estate itself was sold.
