The search for a new addition to the family has finally been found. For the past few years, its been an ongoing desire if mine to pair a young male Rhodesian with my current six year old female Rhodesian/Pitty mix.
Ever since I've been aware of the Rhodesian Ridgeback breed, I've always wanted a purebred but the locations I went to see just fell short in one capacity or another.
Enter Bonnie Johnson the owner and breeder of Shabani Rhodesian Ridgebacks. With a keen focus on breeding champion quality show dogs with outstanding temperament, dedicated to the puppies structure and health, I knew right away that Bonnie was the breeder for me.
Her experience and knowledge of the breed is tremendous, I could just sit and listen for hours and learn something new each time. Once the qualifying questions about large breed dog ownership, specifically Rhodesians came to me, I knew this was not a money first, puppy mill mentality. This is a breeder with immense integrity and a deeply rooted desire to sell dogs to the right owner, not just anyone with the cash in hand.
It should be pointed out that Rhodesian Ridgebacks are not a breed for everyone. One needs to be fair in discipline, active in lifestyle and loving at heart. Answering the questions posed to me were no issue as I understood the underlying reasons.
The driving time will run you about three hours and change from NYC, but its an easy trip there and back in one day.
Such an amazing experience from the first email correspondence to the phone calls and picture exchange that continues today. read more
