We found Shade Concepts through Costco's sale on Graber shades. We contacted them to help us put shades in a newly purchased home in Mount Vernon. The people at Shade Concepts were very responsive and helpful. The field worker, Carolyn, came to our home and met with my wife. Carolyn knew the product and gave us options, some of which could save us money. She did not try to push higher-priced items. We trusted her aesthetic and that she was most interested in helping us meet our needs. The installer, Henry, was punctual, courteous, and took the time to answer all questions. Shade Concepts provides a free in-home consultation, and it is well worth taking them up on this opportunity. They make these custom, high quality window treatments in many beautiful fabrics.. NOT one size fits all. Our consultant, Daphne, was a great listener and thoughtfully evaluated our situation and concerns (light filtering vs black out for an upstairs guest room with high windows and skylights. Our concerns were insulation/energy for this project). She measured using a laser system which is fast and extremely accurate. She also brought her own ladders. We looked at my wall colors and she gave me her opinion as I was on the fence. Within a few days, Daphne sent a detailed quotation including several options as I wasn't sure which way to go. The quotation included information on the lifetime warranty, US-made product, and Costco Shop Card (which is truly awesome!) We made our decisions on color and styles and were able to pay/place order online. Daphne came back out as soon as the blinds were received and even managed to squeeze us in despite the busy holiday season. I should mention Daphne was personable, efficient, and extremely professional as I remembered her and her meticulous attention to detail when she installed blinds for several projects at our previous home. The installation was done quickly, maybe less than an hour. The blinds look amazing. I would rate Shade Concepts 5 stars all the way! I had a deeply disappointing experience with the company "Shade Maid" whom Costco contracts with to consult, measure, order and install shades. We spent approximately $10k for window treatments on our 4,000 sqft home. We had our windows measured, and then placed our order on August 31st. Understandably, due to covid related manufacturing delays, we did not receive our shades for installation until October 16th. We ordered track blackout blinds for our master bedroom, as my spouse and I both work shift work and we value what rest we can get. The problem began when, after installing our master bedroom shades, I noticed they did not reach the bottom of the sill; in fact on one window they bounced back up approximately 4-6" after attempting to pull them down to the sill. I assumed track blinds must be different from typical cordless blinds (I have owned and installed a dozen bedrooms or so with blackout blinds, but not with tracks). I asked the installer if he would be coming back to install the tracks- to which he replied "there are no tracks, these shades aren't even cut for tracks." I showed him my receipt, including the tracks we paid for months ago. He told me to contact Shade Maid and left. I did contact them, and Carolyn was very apologetic and helpful. She said she could expedite new shades and tracks, and they would be installed by the following week. In the meantime, we are still sleeping with shades that don't reach the sill (ironic when every other bedroom with blackouts were perfectly measured and functional). The next week, as promised, Shade Maid's manager Daphne showed up with new equipment to install. She began by arguing with me in my own home about whether or not the shades in our bedroom were measured properly. I told her how I had to stretch them with a pillow that I rested on the shade in attempts to make them reach the sill. I showed her how our other bedrooms with black outs were perfectly functional. She continued to argue with me about measurements in a condescending manner, completely ignoring the fact that *their company* had made the initial error of failing to even order track blinds for my bedroom. She then busied herself attempting to install the tracks and shades, until a few minutes later she announced they were cut to an incorrect size and would need to be shortened at their shop- but should be ready by the next morning. I will add that she did not remove her shoes when attempting to install my blinds over my bed. That was October 29. I was emphatic that I had major surgery upcoming on 11/9, and I was disappointed to continue to need additional servicing and people in my home during a pandemic when I would soon be immunocompromised. I'm an RN at our local hospital and have taken meticulous care to ensure the safety of my home and community since the start of the pandemic. As I write this it is now November 17th, and I haven't heard a single word from Daphne or Shade Maid. I am now feeling well enough after surgery to put my thoughts down, and clear enough to express what an unprofessional, disrespectful and generally disappointing experience this has been for a ten thousand dollar price tag. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Buyer beware. Rude, condescending, will not take ownership for mistakes, lack of communication and very difficult to work with. So many great places to shop at locally and Costco needs to find a replacement to represent them! Apparently it is totally acceptable to have two small blinds with cords hanging down the middle of a picture window! It was NEVER discussed that she could not order 1 blind for this window so on installation day when I questioned Daphne she snapped back and said "I don't remember our conversations" (there were many and I was VERY CLEAR on what I wanted) as well said "well the system wouldn't let me order one blind" don't you think she should have called me to let me know that wasn't possible. On top of that the over priced curtains we ordered are extremely uneven, up to 1.5 inches in difference. We waited months for everything to arrive and when they did she had ordered the incorrect size of rings to hang the curtains. Waited another week for that. The curtains have been hung for 5 weeks and they still haven't come back to steam them which that is part of the service we paid for. Overall I would never use this company and we will not ever recommend to anyone. read more

I purchased shades through Costco and this company represents them. One of the cords on one of my top down, bottom up shades failed and I called two separate times to get their help. Neither of my calls were returned. I ended up calling Costco customer service, who followed up with me but it did not cause this dealer to help resolve my issue. I ended up contacting another shade company and they helped me. read more
