Unfortunately, I'm not local to the Hampton Roads area, so I debated whether or not the 3+ hour trek was worth it. Upon speaking with the store owner, Emmanuel, he offered to meet me halfway to deliver the item. He drove 2 hours to meet me in Charlottesville. I couldn't believe he offered to do that, but was incredibly pleased and impressed that he was willing to do so. He was very friendly and took the time to tell me about the wood, how it was treated and how to maintain it. The shelf looks incredible (as do all the other custom wood items I see on the website). Quality products, tremendous service. I definitely plan to visit the store to check out other pieces of furniture, but I'm hoping he chooses to open up a second location in southwest Virginia...otherwise it seems I'm going to be spending a fortune in gas :)

In the process of buying a new home I had to get a new bed. When I would peek inside of Sleepy's while at a stop light I would only notice beds and I wanted to go with someone of a bedroom set. As the name states, you have a great variety of unfinished furniture, much of which is made on site. Closets, desks, tables, chairs, etc. You name it, they probably have it. I almost went the route of picking up a few other items but in the interest of not spending a ton of money I decided to just shop for a bed and frame. They had a decent sized selection of beds and bed frames along with bedroom sets (dresser, nightstands, etc.). I know I wanted a king size memory foam mattress but wasn't interested in the tempurpedic prices you'd see at Brookstone. I suppose they sort of all felt the same to me so I found something comfortable and picked up a bed frame that had storage drawers. Yay for not having to buy a box spring. Both the bed and bed frame had to be ordered and they set the expectation that delivery would be six weeks and it arrived within three. I wasn't in a rush so I didn't mind that what I wanted had to come from another site. One thing that I liked was that they were offering tax-free purchases when I bought everything. As always, it was good to support a local biz.
