I had a lot of work done at this store after first making the acquaintance of the owners. I had a heirloom ring for 25 years that had been my grandfather's, one I had resized at another jeweller when I first got it. After a couple of months, the gold bent out of shape and snapped, rendering me unable to wear it. I had not found a jeweller I trusted who also would not overcharge. Secondly, I had a gold wedding band that was on my finger when I broke it, and had to have the ring cut off. So, I took both rings into Drummond's, not really knowing what I'd get. Got the wedding band back after a few days, and am wearing it. I cannot tell that it had once been cut, much less where. My grandfather's ring was a greater challenge. There are etchings on the band, and bridging the gold so it would not eventually break... like had happened with the previous jeweller... was difficult. However, John patiently worked with it. It took a couple of weeks, but what's that to wait for a ring I had not been able to wear for 25 years in order to be done right!? Got it back, and it was worth the wait. This ring also is flawlessly prepared. Drummond's also brought their appraiser in who identified the stone and value... with an extensive write-up on the appraisal. While there, I perused (didn't purchase because I was spending on the repairs and appraisal) the merchandise... and they carry a large array of unique pieces. There will be a purchase... or 2... or 3 in the future. The funny thing is the store is in a rather non-descript office building in a high-traffic area of Hampton that you would not know is in that building if you were not specifically looking for it. I urge you... SPECIFICALLY LOOK FOR IT!! On top of the jewellery, I looked at an ad before I went and found they appraise and deal in rare coins. I have some coins I'd never seen before that my grandmother left inside a piggy bank when she died. A lot are reconstruction era 19th century. I decided "what the heck, I'll see what they say". John Drummond was in the store and I poured the coins out in front of him. I was blown away by his quick, immediate knowledge of them as he explained what I had. Most had little than face-value... a few had a bit more... but suffice it to say they are not my retirement nest-egg. I'm not sure combined they'd cover a dinner for 3 at Outback. But it was fun, and I learned a few things. John cannot be any kinder... and a couple of times I was in when the bosses were away were, I found similarly courteous help. If the staff had an issue, either John or Tricia... the owners... were just a quick phone call away. This is an extensive review. I'm taking the time to write it because this business deserves the praise. As evidenced by the saga of my granddad's ring... it took me a long time to entrust a jeweller. Furthermore, I live about 80 miles from this store. Many times, those are tough, congested miles to drive on I-64 between Hampton and Richmond. But Drummond's is my jeweller... and with the quality, caring work they do -- and beautiful, unique merchandise they carry.... they are worth every difficult mile. read more

Since discovering Drummond's jewelers about four years ago tucked away in an office building on Coliseum Drive, I have gone no where else for jewelry repair. Compared to the big box stores, the personalized customer service I have received is phenomenal. The owner, John Drummond, is highly attentive to detail. He has listened to what I wanted and always come up with great suggestions to design the piece I had in mind. Upon completion of a jewelery repair job, I have always been very happy. This is because if there was ever something not exactly how I wanted it, he made it right promptly. Another reason that keeps me coming back, is the fairness in pricing. He has a unique selection of jewelry that you won't find at every other store. The selection of jewelry combined with great prices makes shopping there a good experience every time. Inevitably I always find something new to buy. I've had everything from chains shortened to rings sized, and the work is always flawless. They complete work in a timely fashion. I came here with a very interesting ring to be made for my wife and I had a drawing of the idea that I wanted but I wasn't sure how to go about it. John Drummond took me step by step on what was good about the idea and what could be improved upon. Together we talked about the ring and I never once felt pressured to buy something that was out of my price range and if it was something that I absolutely wanted, he made it happen for me. A White Gold Wedding Band casted from my very 1st wedding ring. I had lost it in Iraq (another story) so this ring hit me hard.
