Our camp neighbors warned us the portable toilet was in an awful state, and to go to the other campground close by. At least one of the sinks at the location didn't work, but there was soap and no hand sanitizer. In the evening it was somewhat noisy off the lake and if memory serves, things with the humans settled down around midnight. Short jaunt to the lakeshore, there was plenty of trash near the woodsy side not so much near the lake itself. I didn't have the opportunity to explore any trails that could be there, so here's hoping next time I'm here, I will.

This place will take you by surprise!…read more A staff member, Debbie gave me a tour of the store that was very impressive. They have a large inventory of everything a traveler or camper might need! The store: Ice cream, ice, coffee, food, snacks, gifts, candles, RV supplies, and WOW do they have Traeger supplies, grills, and accessories. I've never seen so many Traeger products in one place! You name it, they've got it when it comes to Traeger. Duck Nuts. Yum. Buy extra because they are addicting! The one thing I wish they had is a reverse osmosis water dispensing machine. It's so much less hassle than buying all those bottles of water-and creating more trash-not to mention better quality water for consuming. They also have Mexican food freshly made under the tent on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5pm to 8pm. It's not Tex Mex, it's the real deal authentic Mexican food and it's so tasty. Priced reasonably too. I would suggest calling before going just in case dates and times might have changed. It's a BYOB. Seating is picnic tables or take it to go. Rutlader's is the best kept secret in the countryside outside of Louisburg. If you're traveling on Highway 69, it's an easy quick stop in the wildlife area near a big lake. Beautiful area!

Dan the owner was overly helpful on so many levels. He helped set up and insulated my water for the crazy cold KC winters. Plus I didn't have the best sewer connection, he ended up creating a pvc pipe connection for me. It's a great place for long stay parking, especially if you are in KC for a few months working like I was. It's very clean and well lit. Full hookups for 50 or 30 amp electricity, water and sewer. There is no WiFi or cable. I ordered an AT&T DSL as the other local companies don't service the area. AT&T was great. You pay the monthly electricity and water is included. Call first, set up a meeting with Fan and schedule a time to pull in. I have a 1989 24' Class C and a perfect spot, but there were quite a few larger Motorhomes and Campers.

We thought we were good to go. We drive the 302 miles to the campground and when my husband gets there, the person who was checking him in says we don't have your reservation and we have no more sites. What? The employee remembers talking with my husband, but didn't complete the reservation in their computer. WTH? Hubby is ready to blow a gasket, informs the guy that he has a wife who loves to review places on line. And the guy tells my husband to not be belligerent and he'll figure out something. Wait, you just said there are no sites available. Now, magically, there is a site? True, when my hubby didn't receive a confirmation email or text, he should have taken a minute to call the campground again. Yes, that's on him. But we have been traveling from Michigan to Arizona and now halfway home and haven't had a problem until now. My personal opinion is that the employee took one look at my hippy looking husband and decided he didn't want us camping there. It wasn't because our camper is old, there were older ones (see pictures), it was just my husband. Here's the campground review: this is an RV park, built for big rigs. Each site has a covered patio area, a picnic table and full hook ups. There is adequate space between the sites, room for the largest rigs and tow vehicles. There is one washroom, with laundry and shower (kind of weird with curtains and no area to lay a bag or clothes) facilities and a storm cellar. The roads are wide allowing for turns without running over the grass. This campground would be rated a high 4 or a 5 if not for the employee at the beginning of this story.
