    Cornish hen with cornbread stuffing

This place shock me. From looking at the outside I did not expect for the food to be so great along the drinks. They also had a jukebox which allowed me play the songs I like to hear. They have daily specials are on the board to choose from. The chicken noodle soup was homemade and the Cornish hen with a cornbread stuffing was to die for.

I heard the food was great at this little hole in the wall from a couple of people years ago. Never got a chance to visit. After much debate with my daughter, niece and sister about where to eat I suggested that we go here. When we walked in we were received with great hospitality by the patrons and the staff. You walk through the bar area and pool table to get to the "restaurant". Once we got to that area we was contemplating about eating there. It has that old smell and the place looks shabby although clean. "A hole in the wall" place. It took awhile for us to get service, but we wasn't in a rush so that was fine. The waiter said that remodeling will take place by the end of next month. Hopefully it won't take away the " homey" feeling. So let's get to the food. We ordered the shrimp appetizer, crab balls, fries and fried chicken dinner and a pork chop dinner to go. Both dinners came with two sides and two dinner rolls. The food was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. The string beans were also well seasoned. I wasn't a big fan of the Mac and cheese hence the 4 stars. It was greasy and bland. The crab balls were also delicious with small amount of fillers if any at all. Fries were ok a little bland for me. I tasted a small price of the pork chop it was well seasoned but dry. If you are looking for a place to chill and have some good food I definitely recommend this place.

I got here around 4:45 and it was empty. I was the only person there from the time until I left around 7pm. There was a couple that had came in but they left quickly without ordering anything not sure why but they were out in about 10 minutes. There was only one waiter who informed me the bar tender would be in around 5:30 but she didn't get there until around 5:45. She did make up for it with a on the house lemon drop which was really good! So I ordered honey lemon wings and jollof spaghetti with shrimp. Now the wings and blue cheese were so hot and tasty!! But the jollof rice tasted like spaghetti with some bland sauce on it and shrimp tasted fishy not good at all. So the waiter suggested I order oxtail, plantains, and coconut rice which I ordered which I did. Everything but the rice was good. The rice didn't have any coconut flavor and was like some type of veggie rice concoctions. I would not recommend the rice, jollof spaghetti even the broccoli which was cold when I received my food. The restaurant is set up real cute and artsy but the food options need to be upgraded. And I did not like they charge a 18% gratuity on your bill even if you are by yourself. The restaurant was completely empty when I left so not sure how they are staying in business unless the crowed comes after 8pm. The only saving grace was the lemon drop was really good and the rum punch! Other than that besides the wings, small oxtails, blue cheese, and plantains I would not recommend. Also go during happy hour save a little bit but you still will get the 18% gratuity....smdh

I sat at the bar and was told they were waiting on the bartender but the manager (?) could make margaritas or lemon drops. I chose margaritas and while they actually were pretty good, the limited options were a little disappointing. I really enjoyed the Honey lemon wings (on the happy hour menu) and calamari, and I wish I could have tried the Suya bites but they were not available. Apparently they take an hour to prepare? I'm not sure why but I was sad I couldn't have them. I would possibly visit Bistro 64 again (for the wings), but absolutely at a different day/time. I'd be curious to see what it's like when the space is not empty.

My favorite sides are the yams, greens, potato salad (which I'm very picky about) and macaroni and cheese. One of the best things about them is that they don't skimp on the portions. Coming back to MD for work however means I get to Uber eats on the company dime. No, I don't want McDonalds or Chipotle. Oh, look! Carolina Kitchen! My favorite item to get at any southern/soul food restaurant is always smothered pork chops with greens and mac and cheese. I was a little surprised at how expensive the plate was here but after ONE bite of the mac and cheese, I realized that it was well worth it. Best mac and cheese I've had. First, when my delivery driver dropped off my plate I was thinking to myself, Dang, this is heavy! I only ordered one plate but it felt like 2lbs of food. When I opened the container I was pleasantly surprised that it was packed! Two pork chops (sauce on side, thank you), huge servings of mac and cheese and greens and a cornbread. All fantastic. I can't speak on the other items, but I know what I ordered was straight fire. It was so good that I told a co-worker to check it out when I returned back to my home office so they can experience the awesomeness.

The buffet didn't disappoint with everything from the omelette station, carving station (roast beef and turkey), pasta, jambalaya, fried chicken and all the breakfast favorites. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of levels that are 2-3 steps up or down. Be careful to catch them all and not stumble. The service was my star deduction. The wait was 1.5 hours (added our names remotely) but upon arrival there seemed to be confusion. A server never came to take drink orders or provide silverware. We even got our first plates with nothing then had to ask the manager. She had someone come by but it was strange for such a busy day to forget us or not have assigned servers. Overall, the food was inconsistent. Some things were bland and others seasoned very well. The turkey sausage was mid and grits had no flavor - cheese grits at that. Maybe ordering off the menu will fair better. Great value for the price!

Food was consistent and tasty across the board. I kept it light with a salad and even that impressed me, which says something. The combo appetizers were a hit, everything landed. Honestly the biggest surprise was the space itself. Based on word of mouth I wasn't expecting much, but this place is significantly bigger and nicer than the reputation suggests. Clean, great decor, and music to my ears..plenty of parking! Jasper's is one of those places where the "good and bad" reputation had me curious and the actual experience had me planning a return visit. Definitely going back.

From the moment we sat down, our server Chad took great care of us. He was attentive without hovering, kept our drinks refilled, answered all of our questions, and even helped us find the perfect sauce pairing for one of our appetizers. When you're out catching up with friends, having a server who helps the meal flow smoothly makes such a difference, and Chad absolutely did that. I started off with the Fleur de Lis. And it was perfect! For Apps, we started with the fried green tomatoes topped with crab and balsamic glaze, the calamari, and the crab dip. All appetizers were delicious and disappeared quickly from the table. For our entrees, our group ordered a variety of dishes including the salmon, steak salad, seafood pasta and a trout dish. Everything that came out looked beautiful and was enjoyed by the person who ordered it. We spent just as much time admiring everyone's plates as we did eating them! Of course, I couldn't leave without dessert to take home!! The caramel macchiato cheesecake sounded delicious and turned out to be a perfect ending to the day while watching a movie!! What we enjoyed most was the overall experience. Good food, great conversation, lots of laughter, and excellent service from Chad. It was one of those afternoons where none of us were in a hurry to leave because we were enjoying ourselves so much. We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Chad, for helping make our Queens' lunch such a memorable one!

It's packed and loud inside BUT don't let the smoke and mirrors fool you. The food is overcooked and lacks season. My advice save your hard earned money this place and their food TERRIBLE. Parents anytime a kids says, "these chicken fingers don't taste like anything", and then I try them and it taste like chicken no seasoning just fried chicken with absolutely nothing. I hate to say this but it's the worse tasting food I've had in years.
