I really enjoyed my meal at Sardi's on Hampton Mall Drive. I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains, and the food was outstanding. The Bang Bang Chicken is fire! It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and paired really well with the sides. I came in starving, and by the time I finished, there wasn't a single crumb left in the container. The portions were fair, and everything tasted fresh. The only issue I experienced was with the restrooms. Neither the men's nor the women's bathroom had hand soap available. That's a hygiene concern that I hope management addresses as soon as possible. It made me wonder how employees and customers are able to properly wash their hands, and that's something no restaurant should overlook. The food was excellent, and I'd absolutely come back. I just hope they do a better job of keeping the restrooms stocked with the basic necessities, especially soap. read more

This is a surprise discovery in an unglamorous neighborhood behind the mediocre hotel at which we stayed. Sardis doesn't look like much, a fast-food franchise tucked away near the local Home Depot. But the quarter chicken with two sides is an enormous amount of food for around $15! I had a half breast/wing ( very small portion), mashed potatoes w/gravy (it was alright) and brussel sprouts with carrots (it was dry). Sardi's is a great option for hitting all your food groups... but you're going to really get your daily serving of fat in just about everything. Chicken is always juicy, well seasoned, and greasy. Veggies are always tasty but definitely have a high fat content. I'm not complaining, I dip a lot of the veggies in the red mayo based sauce they dish out! Plantains, man I love plantains. A great side to add on to any meal. Do not pass up the chaufa rice and tell them to mix the black beans into it - delicious. Again, high in fat and sodium I'm sure - but everything in moderation right? 10 people ahead of me in line and was in and out in ~7 minutes! Customer service is abysmal at the Capital Heights location...for a certain segment of the population...if you speak Spanish, you will probably NOT have a problem...if English is your first language, but you understand Spanish...you will understand that some employees are very biased towards Americans in general and Black Americans in particular... the customer service at the Beltsville location is top tier... but at Capital Heights...it definitely depends on who you are...very unfair to discriminate against Americans. Perhaps the customer service training given at the Beltsville location should be implemented at ALL SARDI'S locations...they exemplify great customer service and inspire loyalty to the brand...personally though, I would boycott ALL locations because I have other options...but my friend really, REALLY likes the food... read more

Not only was I extremely satisfied with the food, but the customer service given by the manager on duty, Leslie, was exceptional. I also got a steak empanada which I had to wait 15 mins for them to freshly fry up. I thought it was a lot of food for what you paid. The chicken is nice and juicy. Very well seasoned and didn't need any of the dipping sauces (but def. Added some heat to things :)). The plantains were juicy and sweet (prob the best thing after the chicken). Careful what you order, you may be waiting awhile. When you order it is a counter style, where you start at one end, then pay and receive your food at the other end. Or rather, you expect to receive your food there and not waiting at a table for it to be delivered by a waiter. That was my assumption, but not the outcome. After we paid, everyone but me received their food. I was told I would have to wait for it. Thinking it would be a few minutes, I sent everyone to find a table while I waited. After a while they still hadn't finished preparing the Sweet Chili Glazed Grilled Chicken I ordered so, I asked how long, and they said twenty minutes! My family had almost finished eating and I was still waiting so I had them refund my order. I know there are times when it is good to be patientI feel like they could have made the wait time clear in their menu. From quarter to whole chickens, fresh veggies, rice , you walk through and pick out your choices and other Peruvian dishes- new to me. I opted for the smaller plate of 1/4 chicken , green beans and dirty rice ( what I call dirty rice) , cooked perfect, lots of flavor , really good meal. You order at counter and sit anywhere, soda machine for unlimited refills and pretty good iced tea for DC, very happy here for a business lunch.
