We come to several Shaggys locations when we are on the coast. This trip was pretty mediocre at best. Service was good. Atmosphere was nice and always is. Downhill from there. Crab cakes that remind me of the ones you get in Nawlins if you're NOT a local and don't know where to go. Very overpriced at around $25 for two. Wow..pricey..Very little crab meat. I think it had crab meat I couldn't really see any actual pieces. You better bring it at this prices and they did not. Crab claws were great. Worth the extra money they charged for those. Ordered two double pina coladas. We are not difficult customers to please....but wow. Talk about a weak pour. Tasted like a mocktail. Not a bad tasting pina colada if you ordered a virgin one or if you don't want any actual alcohol in your drink...but two drinks and still stone sober. That's a first after two DOUBLES! I wasn't the designated driver but if I drank here all night I could have been. Definitely will be rethinking coming here again and will be looking elsewhere. Three stars was generous. read more

Came out for a day. Use to live here and wanted to see what all has transpired since then. Found this really cool restaurant Shaggy's on the marina. Ordered drinks "Banana Split something or another. Was delicious. Was like we ate the dessert first before the meal. Then we ordered dinner, I ordered the Hawaiian tacos and omg so yummy. Just a real treat. My other half ordered a shrimp meal he loved. We ordered a few pina colada drinks as well. The service was amazing. We had so many people waiting on us and taking care of us just an amazing atmosphere for sure. Even walking into the building the nice gentleman behind the hostess desk told me he loved my dress. I mean how awesome is that. Just a great vibe here. Live music and very good live music too. We had a nice young man with a guitar singing to the crowd upstairs. I didn't take a lot of pictures inside so much as the marina and the food I guess. It was just a beautiful day and one that wasn't so beautiful 21 years prior. We went to shaggy's original location. It's a beautiful view right on the water. We went for lunchtime and it was not crowded at all on a weekday. My friend had the chicken grilled chicken fettuccine. The grilled chicken was very tender and tasty, and the sauce was light and delicious. Our server was. Brandy , and she was very attentive pleasant with lots of smiles. I had the Argentinian red peel and eat shrimp half a pound, and it was very delicious. I really did didn't even need the butter or the cocktail sauce, but I did squeeze the lemon over. I would go back again. read more

Update review. 2020 is the last time we were here. Today we took the grandkids and they wanted to eat near the water. Our server was very nice and friendly. The food itself get a 1 star. Other than the fried pickles. My wife's grilled chicken southwest salad was raw and uncooked. Still blood in the meat. My burger was tasteless. 1 grandchild got the chicken strips and fries, she spat the chicken out. Said it was way too salty. I tried a bite and it was certainly salty. My wife reordered a burger and so we waited 20 mins after we all ate for her to get her food and finally it came and she ate half of it and that was it. They took the chicken salad off and that was it. Didnt seem willing to discount anything for the food issues. We paid and left and I can tell you for sure, we wont be back. read more

I love the view of the water and boats at this location. This is the best shaggy's location on the coast of MS because the surroundings are so beautiful. We ordered the beach balls, gator bites, nachos and charbroiled oysters. Everything tasted great, the service was timely and the staff were kind. My friend loved the queso dip with the beach balls. The gator bites weren't rubbery or chewy. Their texture was perfect! The nachos could have been better. Here's the description: (Shaggy's Towering Nachos: queso, cheddar & jack cheeses, lettuce, tomato, fresh jalapenos & nom nom sauce. options to add shrimp, bbq pork, or chicken. pricing varies. gluten-sensitive & vegetarian options available) I prefer pickled jalapeños on nachos as they are less harsh and softer. I wasn't the biggest fan of their tortilla chips. I'd prefer no lettuce on the nachos. It would've been nice to see red onions on it. The bread that came with the oysters reminds me of cardboard. It's basically inedible. There was live music outside and the weather was great! Delightful Friday lunch with husband, and cousin & her husband from NY. Hot to be sure, but we sat on the deck at a table with an umbrella. Not very busy, so lots of servers milling around. Our server was in training, but we're all patient so not problems there. Boys had beers, girls had non-alcoholic drinks. I went for the Virgin Mary; it was REALLY good and packed a kick. Both husbands swiped veggies off my garnish. Shared the Beach Balls app; came with a cheese dip & ranch - yum! Cousin had the Sunset Salad with Unicorn fish (Triggerfish), dressing on the side. She said the fish was cooked perfectly, and from where I was sitting, it seemed to be bigger than the salad. Husband ordered the shrimp platter with 3 types of shrimp & hushpuppies. He shared 1 of each with the other husband and demolished the rest. I snagged a hush puppy - very good, though I prefer mine cooked a little firmer. Other husband ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and I ordered the Hawaiian (pork) tacos; both came with chips and salsa which barely got a glance with all the food on the table. LOVED that both tacos were loaded with large tidbits of pineapple. Took a minute to get checked out, but drinks didn't run dry, the guitar musician had started on the porch and the atmosphere was lazy, so we were good. I recently visited Shaggy's in Pass Christian while in town for a death in the family, and I wanted to recognize the excellent service we received from our server, Jamie. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome during a difficult time. To be honest, I had previously visited a Shaggy's location closer to my home and did not have a great experience, which left me with a negative impression of the franchise. However, this visit completely changed my perspective. The food, atmosphere, and especially the service at the Pass Christian location were outstanding. Jamie went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and her kindness did not go unnoticed. Thank you to Jamie for providing such a positive experience when it was needed most. My husband and I visited Shaggy's today, and unfortunately, we were not impressed. I've seen so many recommendations for this restaurant and often notice it's busy, so I had high expectations. When we first arrived, neither the hosts nor the manager greeted us, which didn't make for a great first impression. On a positive note, our server, Abby, was very sweet, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. The food, however, was disappointing. In my opinion, it was overpriced for the quality we received. To make matters worse, I found a hair in my food. The manager offered to remake the dish, but no discount or other accommodation was provided. While I appreciate the offer to replace the meal, I had already lost my appetite after finding the hair and felt some additional effort to make things right would have been fair. Overall, based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

My 4th review of this place. I love bbq pork and this was closest to me this winter. The bbq was good enough, but not a fan of take their 1 sauce or none. The fries were good and plentiful. There is plenty of seating inside and out on the deck. For an old codger like me, that's a lot of steps up with no elevator. There's plenty of parking in the lot or along the access street. Once again, it happened again. I go in with my son, order a Cajun Bloody Mary.. the delivery it and tell me the kitchens behind on the bacon wrap shrimp for my drink. Needless to say, I got completely done with my drink and still no shrimp! I told my server not to worry about it, but she insisted that she wanted to talk to the manager. I told her to wait until after we had left, and then she could talk about it all she wanted. Upon my leaving the location, the manager came out and apologized and insisted that she credited back my drink to my account. Well, I guess that was just another lie as well, no credit appeared on my account at all. Real shame, especially considering she was supposed to be a manager??? Pls don't lie to customers. I've been to Shaggy's as a visitor 3 times and this will be my last. Plenty of other establishments And look another month has gone by and still no contact from management or ownership! My dad is disabled and he had to climb 3 flights of stairs only to be turned away because of no place to set!! The food was a little better than that of McDonald's! We will never visit again!!! I am absolutely a huge fan of this Shaggy's. I came in for dinner my first night of a trip to the Gulf, and happened to be staying in Pass Christian. It was open late, and was a bright and inviting restaurant at the harbor, where you can choose to eat (or drink, or both) indoors, or out on the deck. The deck was delightful. I was lucky enough to be served by Hanna, a charming, knowledgeable, and efficient server who guided me to an outstanding meal of Royal Red Shrimp. She made awesome drink and beer recommendations, and her recommendation of the shrimp was spot on. Plus, she was just a delightful person, and clearly had made it her goal to see that I had an excellent experience in the restaurant, checking to see if I needed anything every time she passed by my table. So much so, that the next day when I still had not left for my next stop on the itinerary, I came in to Shaggy's for a late lunch. I again sat outside and asked for Hanna's section. Hanna was again a star, this time recommending the firecracker shrimp tacos, which were some of the best shrimp tacos I have ever had. I was lucky enough to also be attended by Patty, another delightful server, so I felt like truly an honored guest, or even a friend or elderly relative. I recommend this Shaggy's very highly -- while there are multiple Shaggy's, and they are probably all good, I love this one. Climb the stairs to get up about three stories to their main restaurant level. I arrived about 11:15 am and there was no waiting on a Friday. They will give you a choice of dining inside or outside. Inside are a multitude of fans and misters making it a comfortable dining experience. You have great views of the Gulf from anywhere inside or out. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Flounder topped with Lemon Butter Cream Sauce which was one of two specials of the day. The side was Sautéed Veggies which was basically squash and zucchini. This was an excellent dish perfectly prepared. It was delicious. I noticed the other tables ordering the fried stuff off the regular menu and I think they were missing out. Here's a hint people, when the chef offers a special or two it's usually a specialty they excel at and don't always offer. You might want to take advantage of that next time. They had a good selection of desserts but I was just too full from finishing my entire lunch. Service was outstanding throughout my entire time. Wow the royal red shrimp sautéed with sausage and potatoes in a white wine sauce was excellent. The picture doesn't do it justice. Huge shrimp that were easy to peel. It was a great meal with a small salad and the shrimp and spinach cheese dip appetizer. Fantastic service (Kyle the manager is friendly and runs a great ship) and the view of the bay and boats from the deck is delightful. Initially had ordered French fries but my son mentioned to our server that I have a shellfish allergy and she let us know that the fries are fried up in the same oil as the shellfish. It was a gorgeous day so I wanted to treat myself to a leisurely lunch on the deck. I have never been to Shaggys but a friend recommended. Ordered 1/2 doz royal red shrimp and some caribbean jerk chicken wings. I seriously doubt I received 1/2 lb. Those looked like 20 count shrimp and my serving was 8. Plus I am leary that they were reds. The texture was off and all I could taste was cayenne so truthfully I could not tell the flavor. There was so much seasonings the shrimp were dusty on the outside. All I could taste was cayenne which is a crime to do royal reds. I didnt realize when they said "jerked" that the wings were to be jerked like dried jerky. They were dry and crunchy but coated with the sauce. The menu described them as jumbo and I laughed out loud when they were brought to the table. I had to take a pic! I ate 3 shrimp and 3 wings and didnt wait for the waitress to come around but just dropped $40 on the table and left. read more

It was excellent but did not have much shrimp. My salad was so small it would have fit in my hand. The Sunset Salad with Poppyseed & Grilled Shrimp was delicious. The Shrimp & Spinach dip was okay. Our waitress was nothing short of outstanding. Genuinely friendly, well-spoken/articulate, and professional. The entire waitress staff worked well together, helping each other. They are very family friendly. Shaggy's has a great view of the Marina and Gulf of America. Everywhere is open air, even inside. There is outdoor deck seating upstairs, and ground seating underneath the upstairs deck. They had live music on the upstairs deck when we were there. ~ They do have a 3% credit card charge that I do not like so that bumped Shaggy's down from 4 stars to 3 stars. read more
