Got all my bridal sets here. Jewelry was very nice and the price was much fairer than other shops of the same quality jewelry with a little haggling. I checked about 5 different shops in this strip. One star less because the owners are a little brusque. Maybe jaded and defensive from all the haggling which seems to be common in these Indian shops, haha. read more

First of all it's not number 1 and second of all you're not the only store in town. The suit I got from you has tears all over after the first wear because of how cheap your quality is. So I will gladly give my business to another store. Maybe pay a visit to Sarvoday Fashion and get some business 101 lessons on customer service. I've never met a more friendlier staff. You could learn many things like perhaps offering an apology rather than additional insults. Original review; This review is regarding shaguns customer service. This store has a really weird crazy lady (short, darker skin, black hair) that works there who is always always always angry! I've been to this store 4 times now this summer with my sister, mother, etc to help everyone shop. Each time I've witnessed this lady behave exactly the same. She will pace back and forth nervously in anger while customers look around or try on outfits. I was taking some time to decide if I want to buy it or not and the lady was trying to convince me (and to everyone who shops there) so manically. I feel like she's always having a nervous breakdown the moment people try things on or are iffy about buying. Omg..if a customer has to pay $300+ for an outfit..they need time to think about making such a big investment on a dress they might only wear once or twice. But this lady makes you feel so pressured about buying it with her behavior that it makes people like me want to run out of the store. Even during the payment they rush you to pay like as if the world is ending the next minute and payment won't be received. I have also heard them rudely insult a customer who didn't make a purchase out loud for everyone to hear. News flash..not everyone will buy the outfits unless they absolutely love it .. that's the business you're in .. get used to it or quit. Then they get so irritated if you bring a stroller into their store because it will dirty their clothes. Umm no.. I am not carrying around my 20 lb baby and browsing at clothes. Do they freeking understand how physically difficult that is? They also make fake promises about their "amazing" tailors who will only charge $__ for the alterations .." just buy it, go there, they will do great job". First..the tailors always want more money. Second.. the tailor they recommend (some lady whose name starts with a T)..didn't even shorten my MIL dress as discussed and refused to work on it further, knowing well in advance that my MIL did not have any more time to wait for it. I've never met a tailor who has refused to correct the alterations . So don't believe the prices they promise about the tailors and dont go to any tailors they recommend, find your own through word of mouth. All in all, it's just an uncomfortable experience shopping at this store. I feel like I can't try anything on unless I buy it or the lady will go mental on me. I don't think I'll ever be returning unless they change their staff! Owners . I hope you understand that good customer service will bring you repeat clients who would be willing to pay for your overpriced items because they like the service they receive. I searched almost every store in Edison for a sari to wear to my brother's wedding starting with the Oak Tree Mall (disappointing, even though they have Ritu Kumar, Benzer and Satya Paul) and then making my way through a dozen stores. Everything I found was either tacky and dated, way overpriced, or didn't have ready made blouses. I didn't have time to have a blouse made. Shagun was fantastic. It's the only store I saw that was set up in the true Indian fashion- with a big platform where the people working there can unfold saris and show you. There was a huge sale- 60% off saris and 40% off lehngas. I found the most exquisite sari I've ever seen. Forest green net with a lot of bling, with a gorgeous, sexy blouse that fit perfectly and had padded cups. It was $400 which is around double what you'd pay for the same thing in India, which isn't actually too bad compared to the rest of the stores or what you could order on Exclusively.in or Utsav Fashion. The sales ladies weren't too friendly, but it was a Saturday afternoon so they were probably slammed all day. The huge selection definitely made up for it! Plus- there's a great shop right next door with fabulous costume jewelry, bindis and bangles. Transport tip for those without cars: you can walk from Metro Park Station, but there aren't any sidewalks in some parts and it's really tough to get a cab. read more

This was the first place I went to on my day long shopping trip in Edison for my perfect Indian wedding dress. I was on the hunt and this just happened to be the first place we decided to go. We weren't disappointed. The ladies working here were very nice to us the entire time we there. They basically showed us the entire store and were super nice when I was trying clothes on, making sure the clothing fit and was properly put on me. We didn't end up buying my wedding dress from here, but we did get a saree. It was on sale at the time and I think we got a good deal for it. read more

Great selection of saris, and they have the traditional Indian clothing store setup where they open the saris in front of you on a platform and show you what they'll look like when worn. Prices are high (like most of the stores around here), but everything was on "sale," which I put in quotation marks because those sale signs seemed pretty permanent. The quality of their clothing was very high, and after the sale prices I thought the saris were reasonably priced for an American store. Most of the saris I saw didn't come with readymade blouses or falls already built into the saris, but I was able to find one beautiful georgette sari with tasteful embroidery and a fall already built in for about $160. Quite the little gem in Little India! Note: they only take cash or debit cards. read more

Very helpful staff, not pushy or desperate like most places in this Little India. Good selection, reasonable prices with room for Moderate negotiation. Have returned twice for wedding outfits (to attend weddings, not for bridal wear). Will certainly be returning most for reasonable prices and great Customer service. read more

The quality of the material for their clothing is not good. Over priced! Plus they promise you that the tailor will stitch to your liking. When you get to the tailor he says nothing can be done with what you bought. I am extremely frustrated and will no longer buy Indian clothing because of this experience. read more

I bought 4 expensive wedding outfit at Shagun Store in Isline NJ. The Store lady was nice to help my daughter to showed the dresses, help her to try. Price was very high, tacky to long, Don't take credit card. Once you purchase no exchange no refund. Still we spent over $3000.00 dollar her place. The store owner had a Tailor to alter my daughter outfits, her name is Tahira, about 3 miles from her shop. She took my daughter measurement & told us will be ready in 3days. My daughter lives in New York & we live in Florida. We specially went New Jersey to wedding Shopping. I drop my daughter in New York then after two days we came to New Jersey to pick up our clothes from Tahira, 11 Winter Street. Iselin, NJ. Too long & blouse are so small. I asked for refund the alteration fees which I paid $140.00 she denied to refund the alteration fee $140.00 Plus she said I did a perfect job, I asked to show me the measurement you took, she doesn't have records she told us comeback Florida to New Jersey with your daughter to fix the problem. How we can trust that lady who ruin my daughter wedding dresses & not refunding my$140.00. I call Shagun store, no help. So don't trust they don't stick to their word. read more
