I usually paint my own fingernails and get an occasional pedicure throughout the year, but because my nail polishes/cuticle snippers are packed away (middle of settling in after a move), I decided to get a basic manicure and exfoliating pedicure. The two ladies who helped me were very nice and accommodating. When I was struggling to pick my polish colors, they offered to try it on first (even though I didn't want to impose... don't know why I get so apologetic at nail salons). That was a nice touch. But here's the kicker... you know how some nail places use a hot, steamed towel on you that smells dingy and mildewy (with a hint of Gain), but you can't say anything because they have the power to nick you with their clippers? I chose the salon because of all of the amazing Yelp reviews. I am so glad that I did! Beause of the bad weather, they were a little late in opening the salon today. All of the girls were extremely friendly! Kim is the one that did my manicure today. I will definitely be going back to see her. She went above and beyond what I asked her to do. Some of the best shellac I've ever gotten! I took my mom here for Mother's Day because our usual place didn't open on Sunday's. Kim, the owner, noticed my mom being uncomfortable with her being loud but had good intentions and came over to apologize for her voice. The first woman who did my nails, and who never told me her name, had made the colors all uneven shades by un-proportionally putting them in the solar rays, Ms. Kim noticing, came over to fix them. Everything was good until 3 young wyte teenagers walked in to get pedicures. I was in the middle of a mani-pedi service (finished with the pedi, in the middle of the mani) and the lady stopped doing my nails and did their pedicures. HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE THEM WAIT! I was here FIRST and I am ALSO a paying customer!!!!!! And ON TOP of all of that, one of the girls dropped a nail polish bottle and it broke! But even still, they came first. So, Kim does my nails last week. On Saturday, two nails broke while I was putting my sneakers on. Then two more cracked on Monday. I text her this morning and she told me I could come anytime. She reneged when I showed up and said I had to come later. At this point I'm pissed. She charged me $68 for my full set only for them to break. Do not judge this place on first impressions. You must try it out with an open mind and get to know Julie. I was so ready to give this place a mediocre review but then they made me feel at home, they made me laugh, they welcomed me back and then they did an excellent job on my pedicure. Damn, I did not want to like them this much. So, if you are use to Canyon Ranch, drop your diva at the door and get one of the best pedicures in the Memorial/DA area, then you can thank me. Kim did a great job on a gel french manicure on my real nails. Clean utensils, nice pedicure chairs. You get an arm and neck massage with a mani. $35-which is a little pricey for me, but she did a great job. read more

I've been coming here the past 6 years and it's been good, but lately I've not been impressed. A few weeks back I asked Kim to remove the nails I had on because they were getting fragile and kept breaking, causing me so much pain and distress. She removed the nails and saw my nails were long, so instead of cutting them and putting on new nails like I asked she put the powder over my real nails and still charged me $35 constituting it as a full set. I said to myself "it is what it is" until at least 3 or 4 of my nails broke the next day, I don't know if I'll be back. I will add that the ladies are all very friendly and Kim is great but I don't think their quality is for me. read more

I received a gift certificate for this facility and unfortunately I misplaced it and just found it. I called and I spoke to a lady who identified herself as the manager and she told me that I couldn't use it and hung up on me. They are still in business and were paid $50.00 for a service they never performed. I am disappointed by the fact that she gave me absolutely no options and were unwilling to work with me even though they were paid for a service they never rendered. read more

I visited this salon almost one year ago. An employee cut my nailbed twice and caused it to bleed. Three months later I went to a different salon and the nail that was cut at Shaina's was discolored under the nail. After 2 visits to a dermatologist and $500 spent on dr. visits, meds, pathology reports, etc., it was diagnosed as blood under the nail, plus fungus of all toenails. I spoke with Jacob about some type of settlement in services, but he is not the owner or the manager, so can't make a decision. I reported the incident to the BBB (they are not a member) and the salon offered no solution and denied part of my documented report. Then I requested reimbursement for my out of pocket expenses of $68, and they failed to respond to the BBB in the allotted time. I messaged the manager via Yelp with no reply. Client satisfaction and sanitation are not a concern of this salon. read more

I took my elegant, fashionable 90 year old Aunt there for a pedicure after she got out of the hospital. They treated her like a queen and did a fabulous job. I have awful nails- soft & with ridges plus hard cuticles- Kim made my nails look wonderful. And their prices are very reasonable. We will definitely go back there. read more

This is a great Nail bar located just next to that gorgeous patisserie in the HEB strip mall on Memorial Drive. The staff are friendly, professional and courteous. They take real care and time to ensure you leave 100% happy. I recommend this place highly. The cost is good too and there is a great selection of colors. Very nice place, great mani and pedi today.
