Because I love a good word play, the name was enough to draw me here. We sampled a couple of their unique flavors and found the Hawaiian Mud Pie to be our favorite, but DD had to have her strawberry ice cream, so we went with a double scoop. This ended up going into a big cup, topped with a small sugar cone like a hat. I don't generally like Mud Pies but it seems like the Hawaiian one replaces marshmallows with Kona coffee or more chocolate, either one trumping hardened marshmallows IMO. Another surprise was the strawberry ice cream, which was more like strawberry ice with minimal cream and chunks of frozen strawberries. It wasn't bad, just different. But I'm from TX and it's hard to beat Blue Bell basics, such as strawberry.

Great flavors and delicious ice cream! Patio seating with a nice ocean view. I was surprised about the variety of flavors they have, they have many tropical flavors and fresh fruits.

Shaka cones is located on the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort. It is right in between the lagoon and the dolphin quest area. This is the only dessert place on the resort other than the typical desserts that you find at the restaurants. The ice cream is kind of pricey. We got 4 waffle cones with a single scoop paying about $30. However, it is a resort and everything is always overpriced. The ice cream itself is delicious and large portions. It is Dave's ice cream for those of you who are local to Hawaii. Dave's ice cream has unique and creamy flavors. A couple of them that we tried was ube and kulolo. Definitely flavors that you can only find in Hawaii. The kids got strawberry and mint chocolate chip. They have many other flavors to choose from. They also have sugar cones that you can get at the base price. However, if you add on a waffle cone you need to pay extra. The ice cream melts very quickly, so it is something that should be eaten right there. There are a bunch of tables right outside to sit on. It overlooks the lagoon, which is nice. The line itself can get very long since there is only one person working and one ordering window. Great place if you want to get a sweet treat and are staying on the resort.

Very good mango sorbet. The small size is actually pretty big and that was a surprise. I got mine in a cup. Menu is attached. Minus 1 star because I had to commit to a flavor without testing.

Ice cream shack smack dab in the middle of the Hilton Waikoloa resort. When you're lounging by the water and people watching, what better than to have a nice cold ice cream. Careful however when this place is crowded, it takes a while for them to get stuff out as they move in a singular linear fashion.

It's pricey, but super yummy! I ordered the two scoops of ube in a cup ($9) and I definitely got more than I expected. Other flavors we love are the mudpie, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, chocolate, and Kona coffee! This place is always busy so the price doesn't deter people and it's definitely a great treat during a long day of swimming.

The Hawaiian mud pie is really good. I love it. Yeah the prices are high but so is the hotel we're staying at.

There's an ABC store here, a pricey market and a deli. We got some burgers that were just ok with overcooked fries and some groceries for our suite because we were cooking breakfast at the hotel. We were only $20 short of reaching the $300 spending requirement for the free gifts, which should speak to how frequently we visited and how much money we spent at this store. Despite being repeat customers, every visit was met with the same poor customer service. All of the cashiers who helped us were rude, curt, and could not even acknowledge the smallest greetings. The customer service was so unpleasant that it was not worth the experience. The food is not amazing, the prices are not great, and the only thing this place has is convenience--nothing more to offer. In one instance, I got a burger and a black milk tea with boba. I specifically told the cashier that I wanted boba, but she did not ring it up. When I inquired about the missing boba, a young employee addressed the matter with the cashier. They talked, and I said that if it cost more, I could pay for it. She rang up the boba with zero acknowledgment of her mistake. Nothing came out of her mouth. Complete silence. In another instance, I asked a cashier what the gifts were if we reached $300 in purchases. She did not say a word. She simply reached for a card with images of the gifts and placed it on the opposite side of where I was standing. She said nothing. I asked if those were the gifts, and she said yes. She then pulled out her phone while I looked at the card, and I simply said, "Okay, thank you." These are just a few examples of the many disturbing encounters we had with all of the cashiers. While on vacation in a tourist area, this is not the type of conduct or customer service one expects to experience. It was disturbing, and we dreaded going there despite the convenience.

Towels are never restocked unless you're first in the morning to the towel machines. I payed for two rooms and my second room wasn't even ready until 11pm at night even though I was told it would be ready by 4pm. We were compensated towel charges, which would be nice if we could even get our hands on some towels. One last thing, my first room had multiple bugs throughout the room, on towels, and in the bathtub. The staff have been very kind and helpful in solving these issues although these issues should've never occurred for the price of this hotel.

We stayed in the palace Tower again this year and noticed quite an improvement in the rooms since last year. They were remodeled and were definitely much nicer. We really enjoy the pools, especially the one closest to the Palace tower. The only disappointing thing this year was that the bigger slide wasn't open the entire week. We were only there Sunday through Wednesday and found out the slide wasn't open Monday through Wednesday. Last year it was open every day. My nephew was definitely disappointed as the slides in the pools are the reason that he likes this resort and why we come. We also prefer the smaler pool. There are several restaurants on the property but as is usual for resorts the prices are exorbitant, especially for what you get. Most every meal we ate off the property. Drinks were very expensive at the pools too. Food and drinks being more reasonable and the slide at the smaller pool being open the entire week would have brought this rating very close to five stars. It's definitely a nice resort but some changes would make it even better. I think next year we're going to try somewhere else.
