Definitely overpriced, being at a hotel, and the customer service was underwhelming but meh, I guess it's always a great option to have an ice cream shop at a Hawaii hotel to cool off on a hot day. There weren't a lot of options with flavors and there weren't many "deluxe" items either like sundaes and such. Would be nice to offer maybe halo-halo a regular menu item on Oahu's Dave's Ice Cream locations and some other specialty menu items since, after all, they're located at a Hilton. Customer service could use some improving. We went late one evening, about 15 minutes before closing and it was apparent that the employee just couldn't wait for her work night to be over. No greeting, no smile, didn't even ask what we wanted. I just told her my order and she gave me the total. That was that. We splurged on ice cream on our last day. After being on the island for almost a week, you tend to forget the prices. So when I say 'splurge', that's why I mean. Our total came out to $17. Which is the norm around here. They gave out free samples and my final choice was a single scoop of coconut macadamia nut in a cup topped off with a waffle cone. The bf got double with basic flavors of strawberry and vanilla in a cup. The portions are huge! We should have shared a single scoop or a double. All the flavors were great. Ice cream is good and the scooper gave good portion sizes so that's the only reason the review is 2 stars instead of 1. The cashier service was terrible. It was 3:45 and they close at 4:00 it was obvious that the cashier didn't want to be there anymore. She rolled her eyes at us and wasn't wanting to help us at all. When you charge $10 for one scoop of ice cream in a cone I think we deserve a little better service than that. Kind of a downer when the rest of the resort is so nice. read more

Because I love a good word play, the name was enough to draw me here. We sampled a couple of their unique flavors and found the Hawaiian Mud Pie to be our favorite, but DD had to have her strawberry ice cream, so we went with a double scoop. This ended up going into a big cup, topped with a small sugar cone like a hat. I don't generally like Mud Pies but it seems like the Hawaiian one replaces marshmallows with Kona coffee or more chocolate, either one trumping hardened marshmallows IMO. Another surprise was the strawberry ice cream, which was more like strawberry ice with minimal cream and chunks of frozen strawberries. It wasn't bad, just different. Shaka cones is located on the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort. It is right in between the lagoon and the dolphin quest area. This is the only dessert place on the resort other than the typical desserts that you find at the restaurants. The ice cream is kind of pricey. We got 4 waffle cones with a single scoop paying about $30. However, it is a resort and everything is always overpriced. The ice cream itself is delicious and large portions. It is Dave's ice cream for those of you who are local to Hawaii. Dave's ice cream has unique and creamy flavors. A couple of them that we tried was ube and kulolo. Definitely flavors that you can only find in Hawaii. The kids got strawberry and mint chocolate chip. They have many other flavors to choose from. They also have sugar cones that you can get at the base price. However, if you add on a waffle cone you need to pay extra. The ice cream melts very quickly, so it is something that should be eaten right there. There are a bunch of tables right outside to sit on. It overlooks the lagoon, which is nice. The line itself can get very long since there is only one person working and one ordering window. Great place if you want to get a sweet treat and are staying on the resort. read more

Came here this evening looking to grab a couple scoops of ice cream after a Beach day. The lady working was super nice. She let us get a single scoop and do half/half. My wife go mint chocolate chip and chocolate macadamia nut. I got kona coffee and chocolate macadamia nut. For a half scoop each it was very generous. Was like most places two scoops. As for the cost it's a resort and that being said it was pretty much on par with what you'd expect to pay here. Ice cream was very good and satisfied us both. I wanted to like this place like I wanted to like everything at Hilton's property. Like most of the property, though, it just missed. I understand being out-of-this-world expensive. Resorts like this are not where you go to find hidden gems or affordable overlooked mom and pops. But at least be good. I got the Kona coffee flavor which was fine, but didn't really pop with flavor. If it was revealed I'd really had a scoop of dryers coffee flavored ice cream I would not have been surprised in the least. My wife got the macadamia nut, which was similarly weak and, shockingly, contained zero nut. Similarly my daughter got the mint chip sans chip, absent a few packed near the bottom of the cone. I get it - if you need a cold treat around the lagoon, this is serviceable. Its not terrible and it fills a need. Very refreshing Ice cream with some great flavors although a single scoop is 6.50!!! Not my issue though. Lady at the register was nice but the lady handing out the ice cream was rude as can be. We had ordered four different Ice creams in total so we went to go pick up our order and were given two ice creams which weren't ours (we didn't notice because a few of them weren't for us). We told the lady and she asked if I had licked mine (which I hadn't) and then snatched it back as well as the other ice cream too and then proceeded to say "get out of the way there are other customers waiting for their order" and gestured for us to get out of the way when there were no other families behind us. This is a small ice cream shop located next to the swimming lagoon (also the dolphin habitat) on the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort property. They don't make the ice cream themselves, of course, they just serve a local brand called Dave's Ice Cream. I had the mango and coconut flavors, and my wife had the Kona coffee. All three were a bit on the creamy side but we thought they were quite good, especially the coffee. If you strongly prefer less dairy flavor or a more sorbet-like consistency, maybe pass on this one.
