This place is INSANELY priced. They lie about having homemade ice cream when it's hand scooped from the container and freezer burned!!! They will charge you 8 to 9 dollars for a scoop of it. I don't consider myself a picky person and can pretty much make anything work, but I've never had more awful ice cream. On top of that, their customer service is absolutely awful. The guy taking my order was incredibly rude and impatient. I asked him one or two questions and then after him making me feel guilty or stupid about asking I stopped. I usually enjoy a milkshake from the establishment after the beach. Today I decided to order food. The milkshake for me and my family all came, and the food never did. When I questioned the front desk, what happened to the food? They didn't know and eventually they found the ticket on the floor. The ice cream is outstanding and they'll make it however you want it. The food is American fair - fried or flat-grilled. The burger is the real deal, picnic-style burger with fresh veggies piled high. Crinkle cut French fries aren't my favorite - so I go with onion rings and/or fried mushroom. We have driven by here too many times to count and finally stopped. The menu board is a bit funky and not at all easy to read, but I knew I wanted ice cream with candy, whatever they called it. I think it was called a Spooner. I got a Butterfinger one and they even put a little extra Butterfinger on top. Their ice cream is very good so I think that means the fat content is high. Very disappointed. We ordered two cheeseburgers , specifically saying ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & pickles. No ketchup or mustard. A small vanilla shake, a small coffee shake and onion rings. I guess Shake Pit doesn't know how to flavor anything. I really liked the grilled cheese and fries. The onion rings were cooked perfectly and not too greasy. Boyfriend loved the burger. The shakes are delicious. We got chocolate and hot fudge and the bottom of the shake was filled with hot fudge! It's a super casual place with outdoor seating. Each table has an umbrella so you can find some shade. A retro style diner-esque deal, it caught my eye the second we drove past a few weeks ago and I'd been looking forward to going ever since. We ordered the grilled PB&J and a brownie sundae with hot fudge and sat down at the picnic tables inside. This was a sunny March evening so the temperature was very comfortable and we noticed they had plenty of fans for when it's warmer out. It's also enclosed so no worries about bugs. We waited around 10 minutes and they called our name for us to pick up our food at the window. The grilled PB&J was simply delicious, a nice twist on a classic and the blueberry jam was tasty. The brownie sundae was where my satisfaction waned. The hot fudge was good, the soft serve was fair, but I realized the warm brownie on the bottom was... a microwaved cosmic brownie. It was just not what I was expecting and felt a little low quality. For the hassle of being cash only and the other reviews mentioning the so-so burgers I don't think there's much draw for us to be back, but I do think this would be a fun place for kids and an easy stop after a day at the beach when you just want a full belly. read more
