    Happy Birthday to Me
    Richard B.

We celebrated my 70th birthday in London and we had dinner here before the theater. The service was spot-on and the food delicious. It was a lively crowd and the restaurant had a great vibe. I didn't order dessert but to my surprise, we were treated to a yummy sweet with candle. It was perfect.

Came here with a group of 10 coworkers and had a great time. The waiter was very patient in explaining the menu to us, the wine was great and the food was fantastic. We started with the shrimp cocktail, burrata, and tuna tartare and they were amazing. We got a couple of different steaks to try and they were all cooked to the perfect medium rare. Make sure you get the sauce and some sides to go with your main! Our party had such a great time that we didnt realize we had stayed past almost an hour after their closing time. The waiter and servers were patiently waiting for us to leave instead of just kicking us out. Oops!

Sat by the bar and was greeted by Mika Her service and personality was amazing and great... don't think I've had better service ever before. She was kind and sweet. I ordered the signature rib eye medium rare and it was amazing !!!!! I highly recommend it. I give it a 9/10. We had the Cajun fries, roasted potatoes, bread, and Mac and cheese. It was all delicious. 10/10 We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and it was great as well Highly recommend this steak house. Price was great compared to the overpriced menu back home in the USA / miami. Come by. You won't regret it. Make reservations in advance or if you didn't , just ask to be seated by the bar

I came here to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint. I was aware of the restaurant from NYC & was very excited to discover a restaurant had opened in London! All the staff were very friendly and attentive. My friend and I started with a glass of prosecco and decided to go straight to mains but load up on side dishes. I ordered the filet steak and my friend had the beef wellington. I ordered garlic butter as opposed to a sauce and it was perfect, the steak had lots of flavour and was tender. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but I felt it was slightly overcooked for medium. The beef wellington was quite a large portion and my friend was really full afterwards. For sides we went for mushrooms, fries and truffle mac and cheese. The sides were delicious! We were certainly sufficiently full when we had got through all that food. While we were waiting for our food to go down, I got up to take a few photos as the restaurant wasn't too busy and one of the waiters was kind enough to give me a tour of the restaurant, there is a whole other level of tables and a bar on the lower level as well as a few private dining rooms. It was really cool to have a tour! The waiter said the kitchen was a bit busy at that time to show me around but next time they would be happy to! After my tour, my friend and I ordered New York Cheesecake to share for dessert and it was so good that my friend ordered her own portion as she wanted more! It had a strawberry sauce on it which was so good!! Overall, we had an amazing experience. Service was excellent, food was delicious and I would happily go back again and again. I actually really want to try their brunch menu, so I will probably give that a try next time.

Both the food and the drinks are amazing here. The waiters are also great to talk to. Would love to come back here more.

This was an unexpected surprise. I bought a voucher through Timeout which got us a chateaubriand to share, 4 sides and a glass of prosecco each for £45. The deal was pretty good so I assumed the food and/or service wouldn't be up to much but BOY was I wrong. The service was 5* from the get go. The voucher stipulated that you must book at table before 6.30 however they had no issue with letting me book at 7pm table. When we arrived we were shown to our seats by a friendly waiter who brought us water and both the wine and food menu, offering to take us through the options available through the deal and the extra's we could add from the a la carte. The prosecco which we were given was tasty and we were able to enjoy while we chose which sides to get from their menu. We also asked to swap 2 classic sides for 1 jazzier side (prices worked out the same) which was no problem at all. Normally I would always get chips and a salad with steak however they only serve american fries which I am not a huge fan of. In the end we chose garlic mushrooms, whipped potato and also the truffle mac n cheese. We were brought warm crusty bread to nibble on while we waited for our mains and were also given the opportunity to try a few different wines so we could pick the red to go with our steak.. The bottles are pretty expensive so we both chose a glass of red each - one at £16!!! And the other at £6. I have to say the £16 glass was beautiful but the £6 was also good. The steak was brought on a trolley to the table along with the sides and 2 sauces (peppercorn and bearnaise). The steak is sliced for you and then plated up which makes for a bit of a theatrics. The steak was cooked to perfection - so tender and the sauces were the best I have had at a restaurant - actually adding something to the steak rather than a sickly sweet sauce hiding a bad steak. We really lucked out on our sides. The whipped potato was SO good and the mushrooms were plenty garlicy. The slight let down was the mac n cheese which I personally didn't think was cheesy or truffly enough. I saw salad and chips go past which I didn't think looked very good but I could be wrong! We were so full we couldn't have dreamed of ordering dessert however I must say nothing grabbed my attention as the puddings were fairly standard american diner style. Overall we had the loveliest meal with amazing service and great food in a tastefully decorated restaurant. In total we paid £90 (another £45 on top of the original deal), which made for a pricey Wednesday night meal (the only reason they get 4*) but it was SO worth it. I would love to go again and would order exactly the same next time and the time after that and the time after that, however I just couldn't afford it!

An outstanding fillet steak au poivre with chips.

The location is fantastic, the customer service was excellent, and the atmosphere made for a really enjoyable breakfast. I started with a cappuccino and added salted caramel, but honestly, the cappuccino was so good it didn't even need it. It was smooth, rich, and perfectly made on its own. For breakfast, I ordered the Eggs Benedict. They offer two versions: one with pulled beef and one Florentine. As someone from the US who's a bit of an Eggs Benedict snob, I've tried countless versions over the years, and pulled beef just wasn't something I could picture working with it. I went with the Florentine and customized it by adding bacon, avocado, and a side of sausage. One thing I've learned while visiting the UK is that the sausages are much larger than what I'm used to back home! I honestly could have skipped it because it was so filling. The Benedict itself was unique--the base was almost like a buttery croissant instead of a traditional English muffin, and it came with pickled red onions, which was an interesting touch. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, and I especially enjoyed it with the added bacon. The food was fresh, high quality, and beautifully prepared. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, but I chose to sit outside and enjoy some people watching, which made for a relaxing start to the day. Overall, a great breakfast spot with delicious food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.

WOW, this place is delicious!…read more Our family stopped in London for the last part of our cruise. After touring St. Paul's Cathedral, we were pretty hungry. We found The Fat Bear via Yelp!, and decided to give it a try. There were so many things on the menu that looked really good, but I had been craving chicken and waffles. The waffles were crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside -- the chicken, cooked perfectly, too. The syrup they serve it with is incredible. I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.
