Definetly a fun way to spend a beautiful summer day. The boardwalk is great, you can spend a grip of money on rigges games and horrible looking food but we decided to just go on a stroll and enjoy the sights. The vendors are pretty persistant and annoying but if you ignore that and move on it is an Jersey experience you won't want to miss. Parking is expensive and be sure you don't let the meter run out or else you will get a $55 parking ticket like we did. Arg.... read more

We stopped by on a Friday and didn't have to pay, although I'm not sure if this is the case for every Friday. So on this particular Friday, Pauly?, Richie?, and two chicks from the show Jersey Shore were prancing around the boardwalk, which caused quite a stir. I don't follow the show, so I had no idea that this was their HQ (should've read yelp reviews prior to this, shame on us). They were literally walking from one end of the boardwalk to the other, so fans were running all over the place trying to snap a picture of the crew and have their babies. I don't get what's the big fuss about? This is pretty much equivalent to a camera crew and groupies following me into the bathroom to watch me scratch my behind. But whatever, I'm just jealous that these guys get paid for doing absolutely nothing, I guess... Anyhow, Seaside Heights is a clean beach with hungry, vicious seagulls who love to harass you and steal food (if only they could get arrested for this). There are various restaurants, snack stands (funnel cake!), gift shops, piercing shops, arcades, and games. I don't think it's anything special. read more

Seriously? Another beach that I have to pay to play? I apologize for my gripe, but I'm a Cali girl NOT accustomed to paying for beaches. Well, with so much to do on the boardwalk and piers, I guess there's plenty to keep me busy until the beach is free. I know this place can get packed, but coming on a weekday, it was actually pretty dead. I love it this way! No crowds, no lines, yet everything was open for business as usual so I'm not missing out on a thing! I love all the games, the arcade, the fun house, the rides!!! Nothing else here really stands out...typical boardwalk activities with typical boardwalk fare with typical boardwalk merchandise. Nothing wrong with that! We know exactly where to go for our deep fried pickles, deep fried Oreos, and Snooki-pride gear! Not a fan of the Jersey Shore show, but I love the way they capitalize on that Jersey Shore Pride and straight up Jersey Pride, period (including some Mafia Pride)! Oh, they do boast having the ONLY real tattoo shop on a NJ boardwalk. I guess that's something that stands out. There were a ton of people in line, getting their appointments, but not one customer in that line requested to see portfolios. How do you blindly set appointments with an artist if you have no idea how good they are?! I asked for portfolios! Personally, I wasn't impressed by any of their portfolios and there was only one artist I would even allow my GF to consider getting work from. * ** *** I LOVE JERSEY BEACHES! *** ** * We have gorgeous beaches in California, but I just LOVE Jersey waters! I have been going to the Boardwalk since I was a little kid (so about 23 years now). The place definitely has it's ups and downs. Sometimes the local kids get a little shady and hostile toward the tourists but I think that happens in any beach town in general. The boardwalk has lots of places to eat (I suggest Midway Steaks), dive bars, mini golf, a kid's ride pier, an adult ride pier, and a whole bunch of fun arcades. The only thing that would make this place even better is if all the arcades had the same tickets/coins so you could jump around and not have to cash out all the time (but I understand the whole independent business thing). Insider's tip: Go planning to have fun, use public restrooms when you can in arcades/food places because the ones along the beach can be quite smelly in the middle of summer. read more

I was at Seaside Park for Labor day weekend and I was at the boardwalk everyday. There's so much to do!! The few food places I tried were 3 brothers pizza, steaks unlimited, kohrs custard, and waffle ice cream from some place I can't remember. They have 20+ choices of fried food. Anything you can imagine they have it! They have lots of rides and various thrill-seeking rides. I tried the slingshot and that thing was scary! I was such an adrenaline rush. It cost $20 per person. For the carnival rides i paid $25 for 45 tickets. 45 tickets seems like a lot, but it wasn't. For 2 people we were only able to get on 3 rides. There are plenty of shops, but most of them are tee shirt shops. There are a couple of shops where they sell other clothes besides tee shirts. This is a definite when your in Seaside Heights or near by towns. read more

I really love the new Shake Shoppe Arcade. After Sandy destroyed the boardwalk this is the only arcade or attraction that rebuilt with a new façade and new games. The arcade is fun and the staff is friendly. One of the best things about the arcade is the giant ice cream cone out front. It is as tall as the building, I laughed as many people took pictures in front of it and pretended that they where holding it. I believe it is the most photographed icon on the boardwalk today. Now with the fire that devastated the boardwalk in the Park they are rebuilding everything and the entire place is going to be like new. It is a new era and the Shake Shoppe lead the way. When you are visiting Seaside Heights the Shake Shoppe arcade is one spot you have to visit. read more

I had such an awesome time at Seaside. Avoid the reviews of people complaining about the type of people who come here.. it's the best part about coming to Seaside. The people watching. If you're on a diet.. avoid this place like that plague.. all you want to do is eat!! Every step there's pizza, fried oreos, fried twinkies, pried pickles, fried fried fried fried!!!!!! I think they'll fry anything if you want them too. And if you don't want fried food - go to Beachcombers and have some sushi. That's what we did and it was actually pretty decent quality. The amusement park is fun for the kiddies and the beach is awesome to lay out and get some sun. The water is much too cold for me, but I'm not coming here to swim. Don't buy your t-shirts at the Shore Store just because that's where the Jersey Shore Cast worked. DAMN "SITUATION" STOP RUINING MY DAY!!! Haha ok seriously, The beach is beautiful the sand is very clean, Better than Atlantic City any day. The seagulls are vicious though, saw a pack of 20+ seagulls rip through fellow beach goers bag of chips in seconds (it was closed!!!) The only downfall is all the Guidos and Guidettes that are here. Especially those people are jersey Shore... like seriously all you do is walk down the boardwalk and do stupid shit... like throw a football. - In return i get to have a hard time walking down the boardwalk because you decide to mess around all over it and do stupid shit. thanks for taking up the whole damn place to throw a ball... cause you cant get into a bar fight. i abandoned this place once i turned 20 and realized what a crap-hole it was... i remember coming for memorial day weekend when i was home from college and of course it was a great time bc i was young, didn't mind the crowds or guidos (i thought it was funny and made fun of them) and had an awesome drunken time with my friends for a long weekend. that was the point. back when we went, it was pretty trashy on the weekends, but we didn't really care. my fake ID worked and we could go out dancing and drinking all night at the trashy clubs. then i grew up a little bit and spent my summers at pt pleasant with a different crowd of drunken strangers at jenks. my fake worked there too, and pt pleasant was slightly LESS skeevy. afterall, seaside was known as SLEEZESIDE. however, times have changed. when i first started dating MR he said he likes to go to seaside. he's the least sleezeside kind of person i ever met, so i was shocked. when he offered a spur of the moment day trip there one spring, i gave it a shot. it was cleaner and better than i remembered. we enjoyed the beach and the bars, and walked around taking in all the tackiness that makes up the boardwalk stores. i fell in love again, but now for different reasons. we went last july 4th, and rode the sky car ski lift type thing to watch the fireworks. it was amazing watching the fireworks surround us while we were up in the air. we could see them from all the surrounding towns. seaside means something different to me now. you have to take what it is with a grain of salt, and yes it is the home of the "jersey shore" tv show, but there are some really nice things about seaside. i love the tackiness of the "shore store" with those loud "jersey shore" sayings printed on tanks and tees. i love the boardwalk bars and all the little cheesy shops along the way. it's colorful, a little wacky n tacky, but it's all part of being from jersey... and i'm proud dammit! read more

I give this 4 stars more for nostalgia reasons than anything else. I grew up in NJ and spent many weekends down here, after prom, etc. Going back now every year, once a year with family and friends, makes me glad Im not there still. The boardwalk itself is great with the requisite arcades, games, guidos and guidettes and places to eat. Looking at the people with big hair, big egos and guido'd out do's and clothes never fails to make me laugh heartily to myself. I wonder if these people actually realize how stupid and asinine they truly seem to people who *aren't* from New Jersey. Saying all that, I still enjoy myself every year. This year I got to bring along my special someone and she definitely got an eyeful of where I came from and can be thankful that I am nothing like that! LOL She got to try Fried Oreos, Kohl's Custard, a boardwalk cheesesteak, water games, The Centrifuge (awesome!!), the bumper cars and a few other rides. Im sure she had fun, but probably cant see the attraction this holds for me from my youth. This is a great place to visit, sparingly, year after year and makes me remember why I left New Jersey for Atlanta (besides the skyrocketing taxes and home prices there!) Take this for what it is worth, enjoy it, take a dip in the ocean and fight some mega waves and Im sure you will have some fun! read more

Trashytastic at it's best! 4 stars for being an iconic part of NJ history... push aside the WT, big hair, long nails, and living examples of all New Jersey stereotypes to find the home of so many wonderful memories for New Jersians! Riding the rides and eating dessert before dinner as a child, staying in a seedy motel after prom, sneaking beers on the beach with friends, getting lame temporary tattoos, winning cheapo prizes at the booths... I mean, the list of pros really goes on and on... A must see. Stop by for zepoles, waffles and ice cream sandwiches, orange aid from Khors, an ice cold beer and a huge slices of pizza, fresh cut french fries, and fresh (?) sea food. Play a few over priced games and jump on some rides. An excellent place for people watching. Better at night, for sure. Like Rick, I love to scare out of town friends with the boards. read more

This is the beach you go to if you are a tourist and want to see the side of the Jersey shore you see on TV. I would give it one star except it is still cleaner than most NY public beaches. Only a few of the beaches in Jersey are public you have to pay to get on the beach. It is about 8 dollars now in 2010 in most beach towns. In most beach towns in Jersey it helps to keep people off the beach who might make it dirty and not clean up. However the cost does not seem to deter those types from Sea Side Heights. It is a honky tonk beach with typical board walk food, beer, games and rides. They also have typical T shirt shops. I understand the nostalgia people are talking about I really do. However there are so many beach towns at the shore that offer rides and board walks that I see no need to go here unless as I said you want to see the Jersey shore made famous on TV. When I think of Sea Side Heights I think of clutter. Even their web site is cluttered. I would not stay at any of the motels there for fear of being too dirty. read more

Having spent most summers at Ocean City, MD, I was looking for a short trip with friends to a closer beach (I'm from PA). I heard good things about Seaside, so we gave it a try. I was not impressed. I am not a fan of paying to get in the beach, since I love going for random walks. I was disappointed that I could only get on beaches during designated times, since I love watching the sunrise and going for late night walks. I was disappointed that when the weather was crappy, you weren't allowed on the beach at all. Not my idea of a vacation to the beach. Also, you aren't allowed to drink or play with any sports balls in the beach. They didn't overly enforce the ball rule, but still, no drinks... Compared to Ocean City, it was small. There weren't as many nice restaurants that offered seafood. The bars were cool, but most of them had the club feel, as opposed to the beach feel. I would've liked more of a variety. Overall, I wasn't impressed. I definitely won't plan another vacation there. read more

I've always gone to Ocean City and Wildwood whenever I wanted to go to the beach, but I decided to change it up a bit. Bad decision.......there were too many bros and guidos here showing off their muscles and girls in skimpy suits all over the Boardwalk. Please take your families to other beaches because this place will not suit them! There are a ton of carnival games and there are amusement rides here too, but Ocean City and Wildwood have more family-friendly shops and it's juts a better overall environment in my opinion. And to top it all off, you have to pay $5 EVERY DAY that you want to even step on the beach!! Or you can wait until after 6pm when the lifeguards are gone to walk along the beach, but this is frowned upon. Pros: - Tons of carnival games everywhere! - Lots of food places, but they all start to repeat after you've walked on the Boardwalk for awhile Cons: - Bunch of bros and girls in skimpy outfits everywhere! Not my cup of tea - Expensive, but what do you expect? - Paying for the beach?? No way Jose! Why I gave it a 3..... There's a beach, but you have to pay. a Boardwalk with a ton of bros and girls in little outfits, not a place for children. It's a great place to people watch for sure! I love seaside, I grew up going to this beach and still go every summer. Last summer i went and got to see jersey shore cast. it was a lot of fun. Seaside boardwalk is pricey but its well worth it! It is a great spot for nightlife also. Everyone who is bad mouthing seaside because of the jersey shore show makes no sense. they have no bnearing on the beach and board walk! Hellllo underage drinking of my youth. This was the hot spot for after-prom to (for those of you who went to prom....some of us didn't get asked. yeah, high school was rough.) I used to have a beach house in South Mantaloking, so the Seaside boardwalk was our nightly destination for skee ball and Kohr bro's custard. (Orange and white, rainbow sprinkles!). I have a lot of fond memories of Seaside...but it has gone downhill in the past decade. The people who frequent the boards now are a little...different. So basically, I wouldn't go here at night. If I'm in Seaside post-9pm, it's for Karma, Bamboo or Hemingway's. If you want a more family-friendly boardwalk, Point Pleasant isn't far and they have an aquarium :) read more

There aren't many things on Earth that can beat a week down the shore; fluffy kittens with blue eyes, chocolate cake, and water slides - that's about it. That being said, don't forget to take part in Seaside Heights' most entertaining activities: Guido watching, Pizza eating, and Squashing those annoying bugs that seem to show up in the sand every few years. I Live in queens & it is not the easiest place to get to unless you are driving but all in all once u make it here its all good. U can spend a nice wknd , afternoon or day. Plenty of places to eat , drink & just hang around. With the boardwalk u have the amusement park here there are plenty of cheesy games to play , lots of different rides & plenty of places to eat with the many restaurants to choose from & of course u got the beach , which u need to pay before accessing not terrible its like $5 dolllars kinda sucks to pay for the beach since it should be free but at least its reasonable & u can enjoy pretty much the whole day till 6pm. U certainly do come across plenty of the stereo types that have now made the shore so infamous , the guidos & overly tan people are all over the place but hey what do u expect ? its the beach , its the jersey shore !! even tho u have more than your share of guidos u can also find a very mix crowed of people here, there is plenty of eye candy for both guys & girls. Assuming the show is filming chances are u will run into the cast , I've seem them on the Boardwalk , The Shore Store & Karma. The show certainly gave the jersey shore a crazy popularity boost but assuming the show was not around it can hold it's own , U can spend a nice time here there is plenty to keep u busy when visiting , chances are I will probably visit again in the future. read more

The "show" gives this place a bad name I'll admit. Yes you'll definitely see your fair share of guidos, guidettes, and other tackiness made famous on TV. However, what the show does not mention is that the Seaside boardwalk is actually pretty nice. The beach here is pretty clean (although not free), and there were lots of families out and about for Memorial day weekend. The boardwalk itself is pretty impressive - about a mile long with an overhead cable lift running the length. One carnival pier is not good enough for Seaside, so there are 2 big carnival piers filled with rides like roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and other adrenaline pumping activities. There are carnival barkers galore with every rigged game you can ever imagine. There are also a myriad of restaurants, bars, arcades, and other attractions to see. This place is packed day or night, and it is a great place to go with a family or if you want a late night snack after partying. Definitely a must see on any Jersey Shore trip! read more

This place is a hot mess of a good time. It's a bit of a sensory overload, as you see gaggles of girls with crazy hair extension and dudes walking around shirtless dancing to imaginary techno. You have to pay to get onto the beach -- but it's worth the entertainment of seeing the throngs of guys literally flexing all their juiced-up muscles. Despite the massive crowds, I had a freaking blast. Go here for some tasty boardwalk food and the free show you get with your meal. read more

Grew up going to Seaside before the MTV hype. Seaside used to be a nice place to go with your family, but now it's just too damn crowded!!! I would agree with the post below that says that New Yorkers have ruined Seaside. This place is jam-packed on the weekends, and don't even THINK about going here on holidays! Oh Sleaside... what to say about the place made infamous by Snooki, JWOWW and the MTV producers. When I was a kid, we were warned against going to Seaside. We were told by our parents that you would get robbed, raped, and murdered there (I actually grew up with a kid whose sister was murdered there..shudder). As I grew up, I learned that as long as you stay alert and exert common sense, you'd be ok. Now as an adult, I head to Seaside every once and a while when I'm in town. They do have some traditional Boardwalk foods that I find myself needing to indulge in (sausage and pepper sandwiches, Kohrs orange and vanilla ice cream cones, a slice of pizza the size of my head). It's also nice to grab a beer on a lazy summer afternoon at one of the ocean front bars. If you have kids, I'd recommend the more family friendly Jenkinsons Boardwalk on the other side of the island in Pt Pleasant (about a 20-25 min drive north). As for the beach, avoid the icky sand in Seaside and try one of the dozens of nicer beaches both north and south of Seaside-- I'd recommend Seaside Park- right next door to Seaside Heights. The other beaches may not have the attractions on the boardwalk, but you'll enjoy your beach day better-- just make sure to pack your own food and drinks. read more

Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. As a matter of fact, avoid New Jersey all together. This place is junk. Having to pay to use the beach with so many rules (no football throwing, no digging holes, etc...) is amazing. I will never return here or any other beach for which I have to pay for. I've been to beaches on both coasts, and THIS one is my favorite, by far. Beautiful sand, warm water, and awesome waves. Great food all around and no shortage of things to do. The Jersey Shore was tons of fun-I can't wait to go back!!! read more

I still take my family here. We've been coming since before the horrible MTV show and will still come back after. Boardwalk is crowded but safe, food is good and many attraction to keep whole family busy. The downside-expensive and tons of teeny-bopper wanna bee's and guido look alikes. Ron's Review I ate at Meatheads on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights. I was greeted by a very nice staff. They made me feel like family. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. THEY EVEN HAD COOKIES WITH PROTEIN, THAT TASTED GREAT!!!! Their food was listed with all natural spices and herbs. The drinks are all made with natural fruit and added protein if you want. I was very surprised!!! It tasted excellent. If you are already eating well or just want to try to eat right, just once, you'll want to try eating at Meatheads. I'm sure you will be satisfied and want to return on your next visit in Seaside Heights. All the haters must have went only on the weekends. You will have a better experience if you go during the week. There are more families and you will avoid a lot of the bad element, crowds, and price gouging. If you look past the tatoo parlors and head shops, its not that bad. They got rid of the free beaches on Wednesdays and Thursdays but $5 is still a good deal for the quality of the beach. Your best bet is to go to the beaches on the north end of the boardwalk where the beaches and the people are much cleaner than in between the piers. One major drawback is that id looks like the town sold the boradwalk to Coca Cola. Its nice the town is getting money from corporate sponsorhips but all the Coca Cola signs and menu board take away from the individuality of the boradwalk. Also there is a lack of good sit down seafood places. The clam bars are OK but overpriced. read more

This review is purely based upon nostalgia. I remember as a kid driving over the bridge on 37 and we were inside Seaside Heights. Luckily my aunt lived right by Rainbow Rapids(old school folks remember this) now Smuggler's Quay. It was a nice spot when your a kid but when I went down a few summers ago my ass stayed at my aunts house drinking beer and BBQ'ng. Still my thoughts of summer always take me back here. :) read more
