While visiting the beautiful city of Destin, my daughter, wife, grandchildren, and I decided to google a couple of places to get ice cream after dinner. One of the most highly rated places that was very close to where we were staying was shakes frozen custard. Usually, before I decide to give my business to somewhere, I read the reviews. There weren't a ton of reviews on Google but the ones that were there were all very positive so we decided to give it a try. In all fairness, the young lady who took our order was very very nice so we appreciated that. The amount of time it took to order and to receive our order was rather fast. However, we ordered two concretes and an ice cream cone for my wife. When the ice cream cone was handed to my wife, it was beyond melted and running down the workers hand. My wife took it anyway, as it was very warm out and showed it to me immediately. We were then handed our two concrete, which were the Bad, bad Leroy brown "s which honestly we were excited to try. What we received was nothing more than an absolute melted mess. The ice cream itself had zero flavor, except for perhaps cold milk. It was not appetizing to look at at all, and all of the servings were about 3/4 full. I sat down and I figured if I stirred it up, it would improve and maybe just the top was melted but was wrong. It's almost as if the ice cream machine did not properly go through. It's cold cycle to make the ice cream properly. I'd like to say that this did not prompt me to wanna get a refund as I did take a couple of spoonfuls of it thinking it may get better. Sadly, it did not. It only began to get worse so I figured I would let the store know that their ice cream machine was not functioning properly according to the products that we received. Upon showing them, the absolute melted disaster that they served, the manager on Duty, who is a middle-aged white lady with brunette hair, probably in her early to mid 50s proceeded to say well you almost ate half of it so I'm not sure what you want me to do she also said well it's humid out so I'm sure it melted after you received it. I then told her no it was handed to me this way and it was only 3/4 full and that I was not looking for a refund or even a remake I just wanted to let them know that there are ice cream that they were serving was beyond unpalatable. The lady was rude and curt. I did not feel like putting the energy into arguing with her so I pretty much just threw it away and walked away and she mumbled something that I couldn't quite make out as I was walking away. I almost never write reviews, although I do have my yelp that I check frequently for reviews , but I could not let this one slide. If I could've given this zero stars I would have. read more

We tried two separate Junior concretes on our visit here and I thought concretes were supposed to be rich and thick. Our concretes were somewhat runny and almost reminded me of milkshake in the middle of melting. Flavor was there but overall execution was poor. We ended up leaving them in freezer overnight to enjoy the next day. The star of this place is actually their hot dogs. Real beef hotdogs. I got the Destin dog which is off menu. Includes Cole slaw and yellow mustard. Really enjoyed that. Outside of getting a runny "frozen" custard, this spot is great spot when you get the munchies. When I took my order back to the window to let her know I was missing the brownie that I ordered, she responded very flatly "it does have brownie in it."
