Horrible service. I went for a manicure and pedicure . She told me to get dip instead of gel on my nails .. I agreed . Just wanted to relax.. I usually get a pedicure , and do my own nails bc my job makes my nails a mess anyway . So today was a treat. Well it turned to an (hour +) nightmare instead. The girl got the red dip all over my hands, cuticles and my nails looked like chiclet gum. Thick is an understatement.. I had to ask the nail tec to thin them out numerous times and clean my cuticles and fingers .. while the owner/ manager gave me an attitude and told me it was my nails .. and I must have never gotten dip before ! I work in a salon , and have numerous times not to mention the color was everywhere on my fingers and palms . She didn't like my comment and spoke about be in her native language with an attitude the whole time .. finally after having filed my skin (yes you heard me correctly) and nipping at my skin with the cuticle nipper ... here's the "beautiful" job they were satisfied with ....needless to say I'm not And they charged me full price . They look like my toes , they are so thick and weird ... so embarrassed of my hands . I'd take it off but my fingers are in agony at the moment from the abuse .. read more

Writing this as I'm sitting in the chair for the second time in 1 week. I was a new customer coming in right before my honeymoon for a full gel set. I was told this costs $70. Reasonable. I arrived and was told the tips are an additional $10. This didn't make sense to me but I agreed and got the tips. (Crystal tip gel set is also $70 so you tell me where the issue is). Btw I had to ask him 4 times to file my nails straight because every single one was crooked on an angle. My nails ended up costing me $105 for a full set with 4 nail designs. Whatever. It was my honeymoon I didn't want to argue, I just figured I'd never come back. 3 days later my middle nail separated and popped off. The next day, my thumb nail came off. The following day, 3 nails on my opposite hand separated and cracked off. Photos attached. I called and told them what happened In less than a week- I was advised no manager was in the shop (on a Saturday..?) and to come in when I got home. I sat down in the Salon and was asked to pick my color. I showed the girl doing my nails and the owner what happened, along w timestamped photos of what happened and when. The owner goes on telling me it's time for a fill in. Now anyone who's ever had nail sets on knows that you don't get a fill every week. I barely had any growth as it is. I wanted my nails fixed and that's it. He told me- well we can fix the broken nails but to change the polish on the other 5 nails would cost $30. I said absolutely not - I shouldn't have to pay for their mistake. I have no problem leaving a generous tip for helping but I'm not paying $30 for polish. That's absurd. I said just fix the nails and I'll have them polished elsewhere. So he got on the phone for a few minutes and tells me $20 is the best they can do. I said no thank you and he scoffed back at me with nothing else to say. I don't know how this place has good reviews- the owners are ripping everyone off and nickel/diming every person who walks in the door. Will NOT be returning and will be advising others to stay away. It's a shame because the other techs do a decent job from photos I've seen. I hope the owners read this and realize what went wrong here. I'm a business owner myself and I would never treat a single client of mine this way. EDITED TO UPDATE: and of course- after just getting fixed on Monday; one of those same nails broke off. Again. Very disappointing manicure and pedicure. Upgraded to a spa pedicure including 15 min foot massage; pedicure ended the same time as the client next to me who started at the same time and requested a regular pedicure. Manicure-- all my nails were cut and filed to different lengths, technician polished one end with two coats of color and the other hand with only one coat. Recently moved to area and was looking for a new nail spot. I went in for a spa pedicure and powder gel manicure. The pedicure and foot massage were wonderful and the technician was super friendly. Unfortunately I was not happy with my powder gel -- looking more at it at home I became more and more dissatisfied -- and had to come back to get it redone. I felt bad asking for a redo but I was truly unhappy -- and I won't mention the technicians name because I think she just had an off day for a powder gel that day -- and I don't think one bad manicure should tar her reputation. The owners were very nice and had my manicure fixed! Gratis! They believe in doing the right thing by their customers and told me if there's ever an issue to come back. I've been going to Shammah nails since it's opened and it has only gotten better over time. Maggie, the store manager, is totally amazing -- she's sweet, personable and truly cares if her customers are happy. I get the nexgen gel manicures. I'm obsessed with how amazing the powder gel is for my nails. I used to bite them and felt my nails were super fragile. Now, they're longer and stronger. I moved to NYC and still come home whenever possible to get my nails done at Shammah. Maggie does awesome eyebrows, pedicures are awesome with hot wax for the heel & many of the girls give great massages. I can't say enough good things about shammah. As someone who constantly has bounced from place to place, I have finally found my staple. I get the nexgen powder gel manicure and it easily lasts 3 weeks. My nails are hard, strong and never crack. They really take the time to make sure every nail is evenly shaped and the same length. I just left Shammah and will not be returning ever! I made an appointment for 9:45 AM for a eyelash tinting. I arrived at 9:43 AM and advised I was there for my 945 eyelash tinting appointment. I waited about three minutes and they took me to the back where I was told to wait a minute or two. The woman walked into The room and said are you here for your eyebrows. I said no I made it clear yesterday that I was there for eyelash tinting only. She left the room the man came back and told me he was sorry that the grill not be in for another 35 minutes and then I can wait.! No I can't wait I made a 9:45 AM appointment I was pretty clear asking for eyelash tinting he even repeated it the night before and then all of a sudden the woman would not be there for 35 minutes. Completely unacceptable! If I take the time to make an appointment there was a reason why I had to be in work. Of course he apologized but I'm sorry if you make an appointment someone should be there to provide the service at the time I made my appointment. This is a 4 day powder gel job. Not only did the powder fall off on the middle finger but my thumb chipped and my other finger cracked. And when they finished doing my nails, they were not smooth, they were so bumpy and the girl told me it would get better but it's stayed rough and bumpy. Then they all cracked in 4 days. So I go to get it fixed and they charged me! They did the job bad in the first place. But this place does not take responsibility for their worthless work. So when I went to fix it, not only did they charge me but the girl doing my nails, Mandy, was so rough and cut my skin and started laughing about it. The male manager was also just as rude. I've never seen such disrespect in one place and a lack of responsibility over their work. Don't go there because their atrocious work will just leave you with an empty wallet. read more

I had the best gel manicure here in recent experience. In fact here it is, almost two weeks later and it's still looking perfect. Even my normally ragged cuticles are looking oddly lady-like. Magic awaits you at Shammah! I keep taking breaks from life to admire my nails. Truth! The color is black with magenta sparkles. I've never seen this color available at any other salons, where gels can often be limited. The salon is nice, smallish, not too tacky, not necessarily posh, but who cares when you're walking out with perfection? The staff here is all so incredibly friendly. There's none of that awkwardness where you think you've offended a nail tech by asking them to please cut your toenails shorter cuz you think long toenails are gross (seriously) and no admonishments about how "tiny" your nails are, so how are they going to be able to give you a gel manicure (yes, that's happened to me before). They were immediately agreeable to doing double duty so we could get out in under an hour. Often this could mean a not-so-spiffy job, but not here! Note to self: I keep forgetting that it's not standard these days in many salons to get the razor/grater thing during pedicures. IF it were standard, then my pedi would have been just as perfect (it's still looking outstanding BTW). Normally I'm very anti dude when it comes to pedis, but the men here make you feel comfortable and it's all good. By the way: free paraffin treatment. Yes! I couldn't believe the low price upon finishing up. I'm such a fan that I'll be waiting to get a mani/pedi until I'm in town again in a month. The way it's looking, I won't need one in the interim. I used to really like Shammah Nail & Spa. It came highly recommended from a friend. I went twice and things were good - it wasn't crowded, the nail tech was very kind, talented (I even got a really cute design once), and answered all my questions. It seemed roomy, clean, and a good place to go. I soon realized that because of my strange work schedule at the time I must have lucked out by going at off times, because once I was back on a 9-5 / M-F and therefore started going in the evening or on weekends it all changed. From then on it was overcrowded and they not infrequently were "accidentally" taking walk-ins before people with appointments because there were so many people around it was confusing who came in before who. That's if I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Really it seemed like basically nobody cared. I noticed regulars frequently getting into arguments with the managers which is never a good sign - and why stay a regular if you hate it there? There were just constant raised voices in general. Again, never a good sign. The last straw was when I went in to get gel removed and a new mani/pedi. They left me in a corner "soaking" (you know when they dip cotton balls in acetone, pop them on your nails, and wrap foil around them for 15 minutes before pushing off the softened polish) for over an hour. I kept quietly asking if someone could finish the gel removal process as I had been waiting for quite some time. Well, finally my hands started burning so I had to loudly demand service. Obviously this is when I should have walked out, but I didn't. They sent someone over in the next five minutes to complete the removal and then were outraged that I no longer wanted a new manicure. They shouted at me that I should have made an appointment (I HAD!!!) and my nails were paper-thin and ruined for months until they grew out. The skin around the tops of my fingers were shredded for weeks as well. That was abut a year ago. Why am I writing a review now? The worst part is, I actually went back one time after that. Recently. Things have not improved. I can't say this is the worst nail salon on Long Island, because I haven't even been to all of them in my own town let alone county, but I will say this is the worst nail salon that I, personally, have been to on Long Island. read more

This was my first time to this nail salon (and last) they are NOT following CDC guidelines and protocols during Covid-19. This places was PACKED. Literally every seat was filled and people were even standing waiting since there were no seats left. They had plexiglass between the technician and the customer but did not disinfect after each person. I had to request the guy, Steven, to clean my table. He then started speaking to his employee in his native language complaining how I asked him to do that (I know this bc he said something in English mixed in). This has been my new nail spot for a couple of months now. I travel about 20 minutes just to come here because it came highly recommended from a friend. The outside of the building looks a little unwelcoming, but once your inside it's a really enjoyable environment. A lot of cute decorations. The staff is all really nice and they always greet you with a lot of hellos when you walk in. It's definitely better to call ahead and make an appointment as they are always pretty busy here. This nail salon offers so many different services at good prices. I've gotten a pedicure and they do a lot for the regular spa pedi. The first time I came I got gel polish and it came out really nice and lasted the full 2 weeks. I switched over to the NextGen and they do an amazing job with this. I did not wait long, even with all the technicians being busy when I walked in. The place is very clean, and the staff is so friendly and talked to me. Shammah nails is THE best nail salon around!!! I came here for the first time randomly on my lunch break to get a quick mani and now it is the only place I will go to. The outside appearance is a little off, but that's just because of the little complex as a whole. Once you walk in the environment is clean and friendly. It's conveniently near my job, but most times I go on the weekend w my sisters and we take the 20 min trip because they do such a fantastic job. We always get the NextGen powder gel, and it always lasts so perfectly. I always just make an appt with whoever because no matter who I get they always come out how I wanted, but I will say Steven is a literal nail magician and I leave in shock with how good my nails come out lol! Never once have I had a chip, and I know I could last 3 weeks min w the nails if I wasn't so anal about my nails growing out. They have the most color options I've seen anyone have with the powder gel, so always exciting to pick a color. Their basic spa pedicure is great too, they def make sure your getting your money's worth and leave happy with the money you spent. First time you get a little goody bag too, so cute! This is my 3rd time at this place and every time I have had fabulous service, they always remember me which is huge to me. I have used Alice each time for my nails and she is amazing they offer many types of gel and polish .... they have been using a dipping powder gel type of product that lasts a good 3 weeks with not a single chip its called nextgen, (I believe)..... there is a nice selection of colors to pick from and it soaks off super easy not the typical torture of the uv gel I have experienced at other salons Alice makes every nail perfect and is super gentile she is wonderful .... last night i wanted the permament french with the same product and Alice suggested having me use Joanna to do the french because she does it the best she said ... so i trusted her and yes Joanna is also an amazing nail tech each nail is absolutly perfect i cant say enough good things about them both! I also had a great pedicure with Alice before my nails she is so sweet very friendly and makes sure u like the polish color and helpful at picking colors, needless to say I will continue to use both girls there for my services ....They offer complimentary water and give a shoulder massage that is included with your service, the owner is also very nice and he has been there every time i have gone in. This is a very beautiful salon with a very polite staff. I was recommended to this place by my best friend who is a regular and I have been going for over a year. The reason why I give this 3 stars instead of 5 is because this place is perfect if you do not like to have any particular style, size, or shape to an acrylic nail. They rush and tend to not want to spend the time doing it. The nails also break often. I have long nails but I like the coffin acrylic extension so that is what I have been doing as of lately. The last time I told them I had wanted this same style as I have been getting consecutively and they acted as if they did not want to do it. I found Shammah on Yelp and have been there 4 times now, each for a fill in with color gel. 3/4 times I've been seen by Coco who does an amazing job. she's quick, gentle, and pays attention to detail. she makes sure the nails are fully filled, shaped evenly is mindful of how I like them. most of the women who come in (by most i mean everyone except me when i'm there lol) request NextGen so I was nervous as to whether or not their acrylics would be done well and Coco is incredible. I've also heard great things about Maggie, the salon's owner. there's a lot of color options (including matte, which I did and LOVED) and the people there are extremely nice. your nails will always be tended to and cleaned up (cuticle work, oils, lotions etc). the price for the fill in with gel is $40 before tip which is a little more than I was used to but it's worth not having to worry about my nails looking bad until the next manicure (I tried two local shops before landing here and got what I paid for if you catch my drift lol). if you're pressed for time I suggest you call for an appointment. in my experience they've always been punctual. read more
