Service is horrible. My first visit the owner lady broke my $20 change and gave me 15 back thinking I wouldn't notice ( out of the techs drawer)after a relaxing pedicure with the Asian man. My second visit yesterday was a nightmare. My gel pedicure was finished In 30 minutes/ nails were not filed and paint job sucked. The Hispanic girl cut my cuticle so hard and cut my already short toe nails to the point of pain I told her no cutting please and the other two doing pedicures continued to giggle and talk in Spanish the entire 30 minutes. Which included gringa "white girl" at least 5x , making jokes about the sheer white nail polish I used and whatever else they said. I used the bathroom and can see why they're so miserable.. they're other job is rotation of cleaning the toilets by name and day The owner is wackadoo. The place was nice when it first opened, but now it's shot. Needs a complete deep cleaning and renovation and new ownership Never again!! Run way from this dump !!! Business with customer service like this will never last!!!! Had to add 1 star because I feel bad the guy works there. read more

the shape of my nails is very inconsistent. the woman was filing so hard and fast she cut almost all of my cuticles. color I chose was not even remotely close to the one on the sample board. The Good: It isn't too expensive for the service. I ended up getting a regular manicure which was only $9. They were nice enough to ask me to pay before painting my nails to make sure they didn't get smudged going through my wallet to get my card. The Bad: It was slightly rushed. I have really dry hands, so the skin beyond my cuticles peel. I know that this kind of service shouldn't take long but I wish they took a little more time to cut the cuticle beyond my nail-bed. I had a gel mani-pedi here before taking a recent vacation. They were accommodating when I called for an appointment. The gel pedicure came out great and the gel manicure was sufficient. My two complaints are with the cleanliness of the instruments and the lack of healthy procedures taken by the manicurist. My nails were free of any type of polish beforehand but she never had me soak them or wash them before she began working. I have no clue if the instruments were even sterilized because she used the ones that were already laying on her station. No wonder one of my fingers became infected. Inattentive, messy and expensive. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. The actual salon is fully decorated and modern. However, their customer service is pretty bad. There was a limited amount of gel colors to choose from and there were no questions asked about how I wanted my nails shaped. The salon owner seemed annoyed that customers kept walking in on that busy Sunday and the atmosphere was pretty stressful. I walked out of the salon with nail file residues all over my shirt, uneven/bulky nails and about 50 dollars less than what I entered with. This salon is close to home but I think I'll continue exploring my options until I find a place better suited for me and my nails. read more

Too much excessive gel around the outside of my nails and the nail technician, who also acted as the receptionist, did not follow healthy protocols. I question whether she cleaned her instruments beforehand and after she finished with me. One of my nails became infected . The only positive was that the gel manicure was only $40. I don't even want to give them any star. I went in with two of my coworkers before our holiday party for a UV gel fill in. I showed the nail tech the picture I wanted and she completely ruined my nails. They are lumpy and bumpy. The polish job looks like she did them with a blind fold on, and that's being polite. I went back to get my money back the next day because they charged me $60. I went in very polite never yelled or raised my voice. The owner was yelling and screaming at me when I asked for my money back. The nail tech who did my nails call me stupid. They finally agreed to give me $40. I took it and ran. Always greeted with a smile, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and it is very clean. The owner Young really makes you feel at home and remembers everyone. Extremely poor experience at this salon. I am currently leaving midway through my manicure because it was the least enjoyable experience I've had in a nail salon, to date. First and foremost, while the owner had a mask on her face, it was below her chin for the entirety of my visit. Neither her mouth nor her nose were covered. To make matters worse, she was screaming throughout my manicure, about her own employees. She was also talking negatively about paying customers, by name. Later, employees were screaming at each other in the back room- so loudly that it could be heard from the front of the salon. Will not be returning to this salon and do not recommend. read more

I recently went to the salon with a gift certificate (which did not have any expiration date and/stipulations listed). I bring this up because I received the gift certificate in December 2019 for Christmas. Then as everyone knows Covid happened and I wanted to finally use it. The owner said it was "too long" ago and I should have used it sooner. She would allow 50% of the $100 only. This would have been fine IF there was an expiration date OR if there was something written on the certificate indicating a time frame for use. A very painful experience today at Monroe. My bff has been hurt in this salon before along with my daughter so I'm the dummy for returning here. Today was a real surprise. I was scalded with burning hot wax. (Please see the photos way down below.) I was pretty shocked by the pain in the waxxing room and the aloe vera that freakin fried my skin. I just don't trust the products there. Who knows? The lotion may have been old. Their polishes look messy and maybe diluted. Twice my gel manicures have peeled the next day. Yung fixes dents and crusty glue messes that I've pointed out - but still - it's so not cool ‍. Anyways... the woman who burned my skin apologized genuinely. I didn't want her to be embarrassed so like an idiot i paid for the horrible job. But get this... I was actually asked if I had cash for a tip - as I was wincing in pain. Like most of us I've tipped even for a bad job done - but holy crap - my face was burnt . I just wanted to get to some Neosporin. The "manager" insisted on tending to my burns as i was leaving - but it made it worse and it was only after I was shaken down for payment. Just weird. I didn't want to draw more attention to the worker who burned m face so I paid - even with a stupid tip. I got into my car and was freaked by how my face looked. I swallowed my pride and and went back in nicely asking the owner for a refund. Yung didn't look at me, keeping her head down. Not cool. I asked a second time - saying it's only fair. Yung, the salons owner, didn't acknowledge me or even apologize. That's pretty shitty. She just motioned to her bff manager to bring my refund. I'm down to only liking Linda - but not the facility. It's really not as neat or relaxing as other places. I'm not happy with changing staff popping up & I don't see the regulars. Be careful at Monroe getting someone you don't know. The person who burned my face is obviously not qualified. In my opinion the owner also has been unremarkable. With me, my daughter and my friend she carelessly has burned our cuticles and skin with the sander while getting off gel. Oddly she also scolded a staff member recently for taking too long to wax my legs. It was plain mean and unprofessional and bizarre laying there being worked on. The tech i loved Suzy was rushed and I was mortified. Overall I say -- Buyer Beware. I'm done with Monroe & Yung. A more trustworthy salon, "Mimosa" is a little hike but worth it for me and a few others who have left Monroe's. The Mimosa Salon is relaxing neat respectful and exceptionally good at what they do. WORST ACRYLIC SET IVE GOTTEN IN MY LIFE. I decided to try a new nail salon and this place looked pretty good in pictures but let me tell you I walked in there I should have immediately walked right back out. It was so unorganized and dirty I thought I was going to get a disease when she cut my finger with the drill. All my nails are uneven and the french tip she painted on is uneven too. She also left so much extra acrylic product under my nail which is still stuck under there after a week of getting the done. At the beginning of the appointment I told her I wanted a light pink French tip and when it came time to do it she grabbed a random pink polish and went to start painting, she didn't even ask if the color was good for me so I had to stop her before she started to change the color. She also didn't mention that it would be $5 extra. This place is dirty and they don't even do a decent job. Would never recommend and will never go back. read more

I've gone to this nail salon several times and while their regular manicure and pedicure services are great, I find that they don't really do Gel well. I had been warned by my mother in law who has said her nails chip and peel in a matter of days but thought maybe she just picked it right away. I should not I've recently learned how to do my own gel manicures and have learned you really can't mix systems. I went Saturday and got a gel manicure since I didn't have time with a newborn at home to do my own and needed some me time. The tech (who was the owner) used CND shellac polish with a Gelish top coat, I knew instantly that my manicure wouldn't last as CND shellac and Gelish are not compatible, but because of Covid I know things are hard and figured it'll hold up long enough to be acceptable so I didn't say anything....well I was wrong, the next day one of my nails started to peel at a corner, I had to fix it so it wouldn't get caught on anything. It's been 3 days and the polish is pulling up off the nail. With how much gel manicures cost they really should be using the full systems and not mixing systems. I also noticed another tech dipping a customers nails directly into their main dip powder bottles and not pouring it into a separate dish, which is not very hygienic especially now. read more

I am new to the area having just moved back to NY. Of course I needed to find a new place to get a dip mani and gel pedi. Linda was amazing. She did both for me. She did not cut corners like other places I have been. Massage was great during my pedicure and even gave me a shoulder massage while my top coat set. I would highly recommend this place. I started coming to Monroe in 2014 and used to love this salon. Recently I have been MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED. First off, all of the workers except for Young the owner are extremely rude. Once, I went to tip my technician on my card as I didn't have cash on me. I know that cash tips are preferred but I didn't have any on me and only had my card. Instead of saying thank you, she demanded me to give her a cash tip with an attitude. A few weeks ago, I came in at 4:40 PM on a sunday. They close at 6 pm on Sunday. Young the owner was not there. They had me wait for 15 minutes and then rudely told me to leave because they didn't have enough time. They wasted 15 minutes of my day to not even do my nails.
