Shamrock was recommended by a friend. I called and Tom came over that evening to give an estimate. His pricing was fair (not the cheapest), but he came with a good recommendation. I had him reflash the chimney to house flashing with new copper and re-shingle the interface area. He also re-pointed the top of the chimney (about 5 or 6 courses down). Finished the job within a few days of the estimate. Very clean work. He also took the time to repair a few of the gutter screens that were lifting. Shamrock Contracting, Can not say enough , excellent choice . Mr Gilligan was extremely reassuring in a stressful situation after a recent storm , water was pouring through a chandelier. The house was recently purchased and we new we would need roof work. Mr Gilligan and his staff replaced severely water damaged framing and replaced the roof in a very timely manner. He did NOT show up on four different occasions during a one week period, (just to give an estimate)! He only called once to say that he could not make it. Over the weekend since it was raining, we didn't feel up to going out, so I decided to re-paint a section of the interior wall by my closet. After looking closely, I discovered the wall was wet. After I removed the sheet-rock, I found a leak streaming down the side of our chimney which sits behind the wall. Unfortunately, the handyman we usually call wasn't available. The next day, I looked on Angie's list. The web site listed several contractors who were available. I began calling each entry. I had to leave a message on my first call and shortly thereafter received a call back. The company wanted to let that my message was received and would be forwarded to the company's closer location. They have several locations. A representative will call back to arrange for a salesman to get in touch and provide a quote. Seemed like a lot of steps to get to speak with the right person. I began looking more closely at reviews for each company Angie's list had provided. I found Shamrock Contracting was the only one that was located close by. I called and spoke with Tommy and he said he could stop by right after he completed the job he was on, in about 90 minutes. Tommy showed up as promised, pulled out a ladder and immediately got to work. He climbed up on our roof to determine the damage. He then came inside with me to see the interior damage. Tommy explained what my options were and would be able to accommodate my desire to get an immediate (next day) repair. The job was completed as promised and at a reasonable price. Wouldn't ever trust this company. They held me up for 2 months. Liars. They tell you whatever you want to hear. First they held me up for 6 hours on my first visit by telling me they had emergencies that was my first flag. Gave me a proposal and now held me up for 2 months telling me they filed for a permit they never did. I called the building department. Lied every phone call. this contractor cost me fines for not getting permits as well as 5 k to fix his shoddy work. he is not licensed and insured , he uses his brothers company which is not shamrock. the work on my soffits, caulking around windows, flashing around chimney and the vynal surrounding every window he did had to be ripped, repaired and he done. while stripping my roof his workers fell thru my living room ceiling ruining a laptop and the ceiling damage was never repaired . read more
