I dropped them off on Thursday afternoon and was told they'd be ready in about a week, maybe sooner. I mentioned I would be out of town for a couple weeks and they assured me they'd be safe until I could come back to pick them up. The very next morning I got a call that they were ready to be picked up, as they had heard I was going to be on vacation and thought I'd like to have them for the trip. In fact, the person couldn't even be bothered to look up or get up. Lots of over priced stuff. But we were on a weekend get away and buying up art and items for our apartment in Manhattan. Those chairs are very valuable!" It was quite off putting, especially because my husband was literally looking at her with no interest in the furniture, no food or drinks in her hands, not acting rambunctiously, just sitting on a, again, not-cordoned-off chair. No signs that say, "do not touch", "do not sit", or anything. I'm pretty sure if I sat there, it would've been fine and I'm 4 times her weight. After telling off my kid, he went back to ignoring us by the register, not looking up from whatever he was reading. I lost interest in the cases, accessories, and furniture. Dogs on leashes were in the store (no complaint from me; love me some doggoes) and no one was chasing after them to not touch the furniture. Whatever bad experiences they've had with other children is no excuse to embarrass my child or make her feel like she did anything wrong, and yes, the tone clearly made her feel that way despite us cooly, and quietly leaving.
