The service is usually good, and this time it was especially friendly. We started with the fried pickle fries, which were amazing--perfectly crispy while still tasting nice and pickly. I didn't love the sauce that came with them though, since it was very runny. We also ordered the house-made chips, which were really good. The chips were cooked perfectly, and all the toppings really elevated them. I got the fish and chips with tater tots, and everything was great. My mom got the Million Dollar Burger and enjoyed it a lot. The sweet potato fries were also delicious--not overly sweet and cooked perfectly between crunchy and soft. Kate behind the bar inside was pissing us off from her yelling so loud and slamming and banging every thing she touched. She would stand directly in front of me but yelling to the customers way over there at the other end of the bar without turning her head away from me toward them. When she loaded and unloaded the dishwasher, she slammed every piece of dinnerware and glassware together as if she were a cavewoman. I would never order from her again. The bartender 'Katelyn' seemed to know every customer that walked in! Despite being an out of towner, I felt very welcomed and even found commonalities with Katelyn through our conversations (Let's Go Buccos!!). I started with the "Hummus" not realizing how big the portion was, but it was homemade and delicious. The "Boom Boom tacos" were recommended by Katelyn, and they were the perfect amount of spice and delectable to the last bite! I think Geckos is a good place to pick when everyone in the car says I don't care, I don't know. The menu has a little something for everyone. We ate at this location and I would say the inside is comfy and the outside patio is chill. I had a chicken sandwich and chili. Went to Gecko's after the beach. I had been to a different location and really enjoyed it. This location seemed more sports themed, but it was nice. The service wasn't nearly as good as the other time I had been to Gecko's but it didn't ruin the night. It felt like we were an inconvenience. The food, however, was quite good. The serving sizes were great and the food, I thought, was really good for this type of restaurant. I wish the service was better, but that is server based. I have been to Gecko's twice now and have enjoyed it both times. If you are in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, I would definitely recommend Gecko's as an option. read more

Wife and I stopped in for lunch. Her exact words "this may be the best blackened chicken I have ever had." She got the Cajun chicken pita, with the sauce on the side and no cheese to save calories. No sauce needed this is a great pita. I also agree with her I got a basic blackened chicken sandwich and the breast is flavored great and juicy... this sandwich makes me mad because I need to step up my own blackened chicken sandwich that I make at home. We both agree we need to come here more often and plan to. Staff is solid service was quick and I never had to ask to have my iced tea refilled. My wife had steak medalians which were delicious and a substantial amount. Her sides of grilled veggies and beans and rice were both very good. I had the shrimp platter with Cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The shrimp were good sized with a very tasty breading that was crisp and good.
