We happened to come by this place after exploring metropolis and soooo glad we did. This food court has soooooooo much food and it's super busy during lunch time. We were literally stalking for tables so we can eat. Anyways, we ended up choosing this place because we saw people with shen jen bao and it looks Soo good. We ended up getting combo a which came with the shen jen bao and a vermicelli tofu puff soup. The wait was a little long because they made it when you order and it was definitely Worth it. For $10.25 Canadian money, you get 5 plump pan fried soup buns and a small bowl of soup. It was a really good deal. The buns was perfectly crisp and fat and juicy. It was also flavorful. The soup was a simple soup but still good. Overall, I want to come back and tried other food here because I saw a lot of people grabbing interesting items from here.

The bun was so thin! It was piping hot when it came out and the flavor was so good. It was a good cheap eat, though the wait was quite significant for a small order.

It's a perfect XLB soup dumpling, freshly steamed to order. They are juicy with seasoned meaty flavour, a thin skin, and bursting with soup inside. In our opinion, it's better than the Shanghai Dimsum House nearby which is also pretty good. Their tofu soup is also light and nice with boiled dumpling water flavour in a good way. It's not too salty and hydrating with no hint of MSG.

I used here before and I like it. Today's experience totally ruined the good memories. I ordered pan fried Shanghai thick noodle. $9.25 the ingredients were only noodle, meat and cabbage. I went to the counter and complained it looks different from menu picture and different ingredient too. What the owner replied to me "it's just picture." Only cashier girl said sorry to me. Honestly I won't pay $9.25 for it next time.

The food is alway made to order and is absolutely delicious. We ordered 5 dishes had to wait at least 15 minutes but they did warn us. It is in the food courts at the Crystal, seating is a challenge during peak times.

Pan fried pork bun $6.49, 4.5 stars. Beef noodle $8.99, 3 stars (bland). Wonton Soup $4.79, 4 stars. Juicy pork bun (no pic) $5.99, 4 stars.

Shanghai Fortune had the longest line at the food court, and they had fried pork buns which I was totally craving! Everything we got here was authentic and classic. THE WAIT: On the Monday before Christmas at lunch, there was a line here that took about 10-15 minutes. It was an additional 10-15 for our food to come out. MUST-HAVES: Pan-fried pork buns! THE FOOD: * Pan fried pork bun ($6.49) - 4.5 stars. Exactly what I was looking for! * Beef noodle ($8.99) - 3 stars. This was bland. * Wonton Soup ($4.79) - 4 stars. Classic, just like my mom makes. * Juicy pork bun ($5.99) - 4 stars. Good, also classic!

Wanted to have some lunch in this food court (in Crystal Mall) because I needed to do some shopping for some Asian groceries. My family member decided to get some pork soup dumplings, which was 6 for $5.49 which was a pretty decent deal especially since it tasted pretty awesome for what it was. The only thing that would've made it much better is if the sauce they gave us were more flavourful, but then again, it's all good since the dumpling's soup that comes out of it did taste pretty decent too. Anyways, definitely check this place out if you wanted to come to Crystal Mall for whatever reason.

Place is decent for food court food. I had mixed experiences sometimes awesome and sometimes so so. Had xiao long bao awhile back and it wasnt that good.

I've been here a couple of times now. I come to Crystal Mall pretty frequently I guess and always seem to bypass this place....dunno why. Anyways, both times I ordered the fried rice, it comes with a soup, it was $8.75 so it was a pretty good deal. The rice was pretty good, maybe a bit on the bland side but pretty good, the soup was a vegetarian hot and sour both times, so I guess that is their standard soup as opposed to a daily soup some places have. It was pretty good as well. I'll probably try some of their other items on the menu, their dumplings seemed very popular...........

I got to try a couple items for lunch. We ordered the xiao long bao and fried Shanghai thick noodles. The xiao long bao was not as good as its main competitor in the food court. The dumplings did not have as much soup inside and two of them were broken and lost its soup before we even got around to eating them (bottom basket not seen in the photos). The quality was a bit disappointing. As expected, the dipping sauce did not have any slivers of ginger as this is the food court after all. The fried Shanghai thick noodles were better and tasted as expected. Portion size was good for the price and they packed it easily for you to take the leftovers home. The noodles were greasy goodness with a bit of veggies and pork. There is a deposit for the bamboo steam baskets and you get the money back once you return the baskets after your meal. I find a number of stalls at the food court have implemented this policy to get their clay pots and baskets returned.

This review is for Shanghai Fortune. No idea why they changed the title on me. Looks like a decent Shanghai place has popped up in the Crystal Mall food court. Rejoice. Parking is available in the circular underground mess of a parking lot below Crystall Mall. The place had literally just opened (grand opening) when I showed up, so the staff were quite unorganized. Hopefully they've ironed out the kinks by now. Only one way to find out if they're any good - order a pile of stuff. Xiaolongbao - 6 in a basket. Nice thin skin, with plenty of soup. Quite good. Tossed noodle with green onion and dried shrimp - not bad at all. Sauce is at the bottom. Gotta mix it up nice and well before eating. Saltiness is sufficient, but it was more bland (in terms of subtle flavours) than expected. Hot and sour soup - just like the takeout variety. That went down quickly. Food quality is definitely there. They have quite a bit of competition in the food court, but I'm sure they'll survive.

I've been visiting Crystal Mall a lot lately since they usually have the bases covered if I'm looking for Noodle Soup or Shanghai Food...and lo and behold they delivered again! I'm not sure if I've been blind, but only recently did I notice Shanghai Fortune Cuisine. I love Shanghai Food, so I've been kicking myself for not trying this out sooner. First off, I tried their House Special Beef Noodle (8.25). The broth was rich and beefy and the meat was tender, but damn those noodles were so overdone, you could gum them to death. I also got to try their Shanghai Noodles (7.99). These were much better in that they had a great chew, weren't overly sauced, and had a lot of flavour! Yea, they're pretty much a mouthful of oil...a delicious mouthful of oil that is. For sides, I started with some Pan Fried Pork Buns (5.49). The dough on these was on the thicker end, though they were crispy on the bottom and soft on top. They were incredibly juicy inside and the pork was very flavourful! Last, but not least, I tried their Fried Rice Cake (4.25). I have never seen this offered elsewhere so I thought I'd give this a go. It's essentially crispy and a bit salty on the outside while there's soft rice on the inside. It sounds so bland, but it's so amazing and tasty! Furthermore, it's one of the few fried things that I've tried here where it's not oily whatsoever! Overall, pretty decent Shanghai food!

A little background.. I am not a huge fan of bread or dough..but when it comes to asian baos (oh and donuts which has nothing to do with this post but I can always smile just typing that word) ok anyway back to baos.. that craving will always be in the pit of my tummy. I may not be able to finish a lot but damn that first bite or slurp always satisfies me. I am rarely in the burnaby area and even when I am I tend to only go Metrotown. Honestly i don't think i've gone to Crystal Mall in probably 4 years. Boyfriend loves xiao long baos and we knew there was a bomb place in the crystal mall food court so we got our nomnom on. Of course we got the xiao long baos which came with the vinegar dipping sauce. It's always a challenge to make sure you gently pick up the bao at the tip without ripping it so you get that mouth watering slurp of soup! These were made so well. The filling was a decent amount and the skin was not too thick. We also got the pork baos. I really liked these ones. Comparable to the ones at the lansdowne food court which i'll review one day too. But these were soft fresh and juicy! Also the fact that these are made fresh definitely adds to that home style feeling. If you guys are in the area or looking for a good quick place to get some juicy buns, for sure try this out!

The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
