Very grateful to be back home after this experience. The floor in our room was wet as well as the bed when we arrived. TV stopped working the second day. Bathtub has rust stains. The food is subpar and expensive. Wifi is very slow. Don't expect peace and quiet because the lobby is constantly playing loud country music. If your room is close to the outdoor pool you will hear every person coming in and out of the building. The list goes on. Positives: Monkey Grind. It's basically a Starbucks. We've been members for years, but it seems you never know what to expect anymore. Management changes frequently and with it does the standard they find acceptable. Friday when we arrived, the staff at the pool bar was WONDERFUL. A woman and man who I think said they were from Jamaica. But Saturday, Cierra at the bar was downright disrespectful and rude to three separate people in our party. Slamming ID's down, rolling her eyes when we ordered something non alcoholic after waiting more than 15 minutes for her attention, then turning to a guest next to me and asking "are YOU ordering alcohol?" And proceeding to make her drinks first. We spoke to management, and her behavior doubled down and got worse. More people from our group arrived and before we'd even spoken to them came to our area talking about her bad attitude. Truly reprehensible. The man and woman from Friday were back Sunday at the pool bar and were once again wonderful and cheerful and kind. The bathrooms at the pool were DISGUSTING. Feces and blood on the stall walls, floors sticking to your shoes and the smell so overpowering you couldn't hardly in there. No toilet paper at all. We reported it Saturday evening and by Sunday morning there was toilet paper but the bathroom was still trashed and smelled horrible. As did the water in the hot tub. Even the kids said "the water smells like mold". Even jumping in the pool after didn't shake the smell from our clothes. When we let the front desk know she seemed put out and said "I'm sure you saw how many people were here yesterday". Nobody ever came out to clean the bathroom or checked the hot tub water from when we called at 9 am to when we left at 4, So we just had our kids and group go into the lobby to use the restroom. When we arrived each morning to the pool there was also trash everywhere, under chairs, on railings. Googles and personal items from the day before as well. Clearly nobody is closing down the pool properly or doing a sweep before opening. Which contributes to lots of flys around feeding on drinks and lime wedges. The splash pad Sunday morning had about 7 towels shoved into the bottom of the slide, blocking the drainage. Again- just clear nobody even does a glance around. When you bring any of it to staff attention- you're met with bad attitude and annoyance. We pay a premium to come, we pay for drinks and food, and tip well. There's no excuse for the lack of cleanliness and care. The pool is a main feature. It should be kept up. We love shangrila. We had good experiences too. We always do. But this is just truly disappointing and embarrassing when this is the standard. Lastly- doing away with breakfast at docs, and providing no additional help at the monkey grind is a poor choice. There's no food at all on the resort for breakfast except the tiny coffee stand. It took 45 minutes to get through the line and get coffee and a croissant. We have stayed at the Shangri La Resort and dined at their restaurants several times. When we recently checked out of Shangri La Resort, we had charges that had been issued to our room number from the Anchor that we never stepped foot in and also inaccurate charges for a large amount from the Summit. It took a lot of my time all week getting those charges addressed! Be sure and check your statements and credit card charges from the Shangri La Resort! read more

We stopped here for golf on our way to Austin and had a great time! The golf courses are in great shape and certainly challenging. The area is quite pretty and the lake views are peaceful. Granted we were visiting in October during the pandemic (although I'm not sure Oklahoma knows there is a pandemic ), so we weren't able to use the properties quite as freely as we would have in other times. The pool area was absolutely beautiful (and I'm not even a pool person)! They had a good sized outdoor hot tub, quite a few poolside cabanas, outdoor bars, a kiddie pool area and more. They also have an indoor pool and fitness area. The room was very comfortable and well furnished. I loved the bath and body works lotion in the bathroom. read more

It's the golf I don't recommend, the resort is fine. Trip planned months in advance. Four person/3 day golf trip was disappointing. We didn't get to play one of the 3 courses due to a schedule change around a college tournament (20 teams!). Management maybe think to shutdown the course in this case. Could not warm up on the practice range either. Head pro did NOT return my numerous calls or emails. Can you say poor customer service! read more

We were parked in the middle of the parking lot and a golf ball found our back window. Ok, stuff happens. The front desk person was somewhat helpful in terms of handing me a few trash bags and the business card of the golf person to contact for such incidents. One person on staff told me that this happens frequently, but the reaction from other staff seemed like they had never experienced this before...at their golf resort. No offer to have a maintenance staff help put those plastic bags on the window, no local phone numbers for auto window replacement, no established procedures for reimbursement, or not, for the window. Just three plastic trash bags and a business card. What is worse, the golf person I was told to contact by email, has not replied in two weeks. The marketing office that followed up with has not replied in a week. The food was fine, the rooms fine. My wife and I had talked about bring our sons up for a golf weekend, but after the window incident I don't see that happening. read more

The housekeeping staff and conference staff were great however the staff at the Front Desk, Anchor and at Docs treated us like we were an inconvenience because we were not members. Definitely do not recommend having your conference there unless you are a member of the resort. read more

It would have been a solid five stars but then Friday night arrived and with it lots of guests. Guest are good but noisy obnoxious guests at 2AM is not. The hotel walls must not be insulated very well. We could hear multiple tv's after 1AM, people talking, kids (we assume) running up and down the halls. All well after 1 AM. The worst though was a couple having sex, the woman was very vocal and might I add they had a lot of endurance too! At 2:30 in the morning my wife called to complain. We're happy they seem to be having a really great time but frankly we did not need to be so much a part of it. We don't swing that way! Pun intended. Ok the good stuff; amazingly nice staff everywhere! Everyone was friendly and greeted us with big smiles, hello's and friendly service. I mean everyone from ground staff to wait staff everyone was ready to serve or just being helpful. The pool area is top notch and would compete with any resort. There is a kids water play ground too. Bar service evil it's ISR was prompt and properly frequent. Our room was great despite the aforementioned, bed was comfortable and all the little details in order. Our room had a walk out balcony which we really appreciated and used throughout our stay. There are several restaurants on the property but make a reservation at the Summit, spend a little too much cause it's worth it. Immaculate service, wonderful top flight foods, ridiculously good deserts! Pull your boat up to the curtesy slips and enjoy a meal or pick up supplies at the ship store. There are 27 holes of championship golfing with more to come, a full service gym, spa, sauna, and the typical ball rooms and meeting rooms. Really this would be five stars if not for all the noise and I can't fault the staff or service, perhaps the building contractor? Sadly then, they really deserve five stars, we are already planning a return visit and plans to rent a boat. PS we would have rented a boat but the weather was not great on this trip and really you come to a place like this for four things; boating, fishing, golf, and pampering afterwards. read more

Only four stars because we did not stay here or play golf but the grounds and the resort looked amazing. We only stopped in for something to eat at Doc's but we ended up wandering the grounds. The drive in through the golf course is fantastic and they have landscaped the greens with water features, plantings and hardscapes. The hotel lobby is amazing. It had been ages since we had stopped in (obviously because they have not been open that long and the old multi-storied hotel is no longer). It is a definite improvement. The pool area was very chic and there was a mini-water park area for kids. We are definitely planning a stay here at some point. read more

From great dining, a beautiful golf course, an awesome family fun center, and an exceptional marina, I would recommend it for anyone looking to get away, hot the links, have fun or just go out to eat someplace nice. We came but only for a day. The place is beyond beautiful and so much to do but they need to come up with a better health plan for those employees not vaccinated. Hands all up on your straws and food. Touching money and then food and drinks! Crazy! No masks. Etc etc. Many and most places are following the CDC guidelines that require all non-vaccinated employees to wear a mask. However, they are not here and was told they don't even check employees and ask for them to just not come in if their sick. Well today we check into the beautiful Shangri-La resort! I want to give this place a 5 star for how nice the resort is as a whole but a 3 Star for some things service wise and room wise that we experienced. This place as a resort is beautiful! It has a gorgeous resort pool with lake views and the restaurant onsite is good food but not the best service. The waitress took our food order, brought it out and then came back one more time when someone else checked us out to pay. We never had 1 refill. There is another bar/girl onsite that we asked about and had to walk down a hill to get to when only to find out it was closed for the season. We asked two staff members about it and neither bothered to tell us. Lastly and most importantly- when I called to book I told them I was coming in for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted a king suite with water view. Well there is water in the pic but our view on the 2nd floor was of trash cans, boxes and workers (see pics) . Might I add you must keep your window shades/curtains closed because they can see right in your room with it being so close to the ground level. Needless to say not only did I not have a lake view but I couldn't even get sunlight in my room. $700 for 3 nights and my husband's birthday and I requested view, I would think Shangri-La could do much better than what we got. My husband is happy because he likes the hotel, he's just not fond of the room. I hate that because I wanted the whole experience to be great! read more

My fiancé and I stayed here for a few nights as we were passing through the area. We were looking for a nice hotel that wasn't a part of a chain like The Hilton and others. We have been having really bad luck with chain hotels and wanted to stay somewhere and relax somewhere without things turning sour. I found this resort on google and loved how nice it looked and that it wasn't a chain. When we arrived we were shocked by how beautiful everything was. It looked like a scene out of a movie. While we were guests, the staff was very nice and respectful. The only complaint I have about while we were there was that there was no microwave in the room. The hotel has 1 restaurant on site and there's 3 others on the resort property and they make it very clear that they expect you to eat there and spend more money. We checked out on 3/9 and headed to continue our way home. About 30-45 minutes into our drive, I checked and saw that I had missed a phone call from the hotel. The voicemail they left stated that we had accidentally left a bag of ours behind and to call back with what we wanted them to do with the bag. I called back and spoke with Daniel at the front desk. He informed me that the front desk would hold onto our belongings for us to come back later that day to get them. He also informed me that the hotel had charged my card on file $487.00 in damages without my permission to do so. That is on top of the $511.83 for the stay and $100 deposit meant for incidentals. In total, this place charged $1,019.43 to my card. When I had asked what damages, Daniel informed me of some outlandish stuff that we would never do. According to him, with just his word not any evidence of this we were charged $487 for - Stolen Duvet/comforter - towels stained with hair color - hair coloring all over bathroom - bathroom and room "damaged beyond repair" - bathroom may "need tile ripped up and replaced" - room deemed "unable to rent out" First of all we have our own bedding set that we bring to hotels with us because we are germaphobes so we never even used their bedding. Plus our bedding is grey and theirs is white. And then the duvet they are accusing us of taking is so large and heavy it wouldn't be able to fit into our luggage if we wanted to take it, we used a luggage dolly and the duvet would be visible on the multiple cameras they have installed. Secondly, yes there was hair color on the hotel towels but it can be removed from white towels if you put bleach in the washing machine when you launder them. We wiped down the entire room and left it almost immaculate, the hair dye comes up easily with a bleach solution and rag or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Both of us have colored our hair many times and never had a problem removing dye that has accidentally landed on any surface. With this information that I just pointed out, I'm actually curious to find out what cleaning products they use to get the rooms clean for the next guests. Clearly it isn't bleach. I am very upset and livid at the fact that they accused us of theft with no evidence whatsoever. I am disputing the charge with my bank and absolutely never coming back to this place. Have called to speak to the hotel manager multiple times receiving nothing, not even a call back, from him. read more

Stayed here two weeks while my house was being redone ! I love it hear and love the staff

Where do I begin???? This resort was the breath of fresh air my family needed during this crazy COVID life. The rooms were neat and roomy with bath and body works toiletries (beach scent) which I love, and there are a few select rooms which go straight to the indoor and outdoor pool areas. The food at Eddys was great with delicious burgers and loaded fries. Pool area was huge with tons of chairs and cabanas for the lucky early birds. The pool also has to go pizza and a full bar and stays open until midnight for all the night owls! Boating/jet skis/ yachts if you know someone are one of the many activities on the water. And golf----wow what a beautifully kept green!!! Five stars for the service and the fantastic time. And more to come in the next phases of the property with more entertainment :) thank you to all the wonderful staff at the resort. Y'all are the best. Five stars!!!! read more

Went to dinner over the weekend and what a disaster it was. There was only a group of about 8 golf guys and 2 other tables of 2 people when we got there. We thought that we should be able to get pretty good service...BOY WERE WE EVER WRONG!!! We could not get anyone to seat us, finally, someone came and got us and took us up to the front. The girl told us that she didn't see us. When she took us to a table, she said that we would have to scan the table tent for a menu, but it probably would not work so when a server came, we would have to then ask for a menu. If you know that we are not going to be able to scan, then why don't you go ahead and give us a menu then??? We asked if they had a drink menu, and we were told that they don't have those, and we asked what kind of drinks they had, and she told us that she did not know. When she finally came back, we ordered an appetizer and dinner. We also ordered drinks, they did not know how to make them, so they just made their own version of what they thought were the drinks. They brought our appetizer and dinner at the same time would have been nice to have one before the other, we might have ordered more drinks. With our dinner, our vegetables were burnt, and the dinner was dry. After dinner, we asked about what kind of alcohol they had and all of a sudden they could find a drink menu. After this evening I will never return nor will I recommend to anyone to go to this place for dinner. read more

Shangri-La is a vibrant jewel in Oklahoma's crown. Every staff member that we encountered was professional, friendly, and efficient. The amenities are awesome, and we spent a lot of time at the gorgeous pool and relaxing hot tub. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Doc's and each time found it delicious! We even had time to enjoy the spa and could not compliment Debbie's therapeutic touch enough. My daughters and I rode Wave Runners for the first time in our lives and had an absolute blast! Glenna and her team were wonderful. Next time we'll do it all day! Lastly, I'd like to compliment Dana Able and Linda Wall. I was so impressed with the resort, I am scheduling a Corporate event later in the year. They have been phenomenal to work with and I can't wait until my colleagues get a chance to experience firsthand your superior service! read more

While the location and the look are 5 stars the service is terrible. Was told we would be able to check in early but on arrival we couldn't check in until 4. Also, was told we could use the pool after we checked out for a couple of hours. When we checked out we were told we weren't supposed to do that but they would accommodate us. The restaurant was awful. Took an hour and a half to get our food and my medium rare steak was about as well done and dry as a piece of leather! Don't waste your time and money....find a nice Airbnb. read more

From the Championship level golf course, to the brand new resort, this place is incredible. Resort style pool, Eddy's Lakeside, and Doc's are all great reasons to visit Shangri La. I live in Tulsa and whenever I have a day off I go straight to Shangri La. The perfect nearby getaway. As with any business, they had a couple kinks to work out in the first couple months, but everything I've had from Summit, to Doc's, to Eddy's has been on point! 5 out of 5! read more

What a wonderful renovation of a beloved vacation spot. The Shangri-La Resort and Golf Club are a win! Just had our Partner Retreat there, and the first class service from Linda Wall and Dana Able set my mind at ease that this was the place to be. The service provided by the wait staff went above and beyond. The rooms were lovely, pool amazing, and food delicious. The Spa, managed by Shana Hartley, gave our female partners an experience they are still talking about, while dinner at the Summit was premier. So close to Tulsa, yet located in a serene setting on Grand Lake, The Shangri-La Resort is a must for a weekend (or longer!) get away. read more

The upgrades to the resort are great. The pool is great, the rooms are great. That being said, I am leaving a day and a half early (on a 3 day trip) because the internet doesn't work more often than it works. I have wasted an entire day trying (and failing) to do about an hours worth of work. With this huge investment in this beautiful resort I am surprised they didn't spend any money to get good internet service. I would like to come back but NEVER will because I can't be this disconnected from my business for so long. read more

First off the good: Probably the nicest staff of any resort I have ever visited ( including Disney, and we are Disney vacation club members) . Everyone from housekeeping to the daily manager, all made effort to ensure you are greeted and all of your needs are met. It is impossible to not know how to get around, because the staff is so helpful. Second, the rooms are immaculate. The resort is also immaculate. Everything you could possibly need to relax and have fun. Great access to the lake, and all of the things that one would need for lake fun. One of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever seen. Now the bad: The rooms are almost un-insulated. You can hear everything in the halls and other rooms. All night :) The food is possibly the most bland food I have ever eaten. I wanted to gift the chef a container of salt and pepper. We ate there several times, and every time the food was completely underwhelming. Only place I have ordered garlic mash potatoes, that didn't included garlic :). I was very surprised, considering the quality of the hotel; you would assume they would hire a quality chef or cook. 5 meals over 3 days, not one thing to brag about. Well, I guess you could say the most bland food I have ever eaten. If that is a category. I would stay again because of the service, and the quality of the facilities; just next time I'll eat out :) read more

What a disappointment. The mushroom spaghetti dish had canned mushrooms and I think they used Campbells mushroom soup. Maybe not but tasted like it. Not worth 14$! They were out of fried pickles, and then we had to change our order of a potato because they only had one. They offered roasted potatoes and sent out potatoes that looked like they had been under the lamp for days. Burnt, dry, and shriveled. Then to top it off the kid got chicken strips that were from a bag tasted like Tysons to me. I gave them 2 stars for their top shelf margaritas! So disappointing. Came out to stay for 4th of July weekend. My parents loved Shangri-La when they were young. The resort and grounds are beautiful and you can tell that they put so much money and thought into this new resort. They have a full service spa that not only provides standard massages and nail services, but they also have injectibles and IV treatments in case you have too much to drink while you're here. The pool is great and they have cabanas and plenty of chairs. There is also a huge splash pad with water slides for the kiddos. The restaurant is tremendously slow and the food is mediocre, so plan to eat elsewhere. That is the only thing that even tarnishes this experience at all, but as it was 4th of July weekend, it may have just been an off night. They don't offer valet, which for a resort of this scale is surprising. There is a marina on site and you can rent a boat or jet skis and also go parasailing. Their rates are very affordable. We loved our stay and will definitely be back! read more
