Drove a couple of hours to get there, don't let the outside scare you off, it's an old schoolhouse that hasn't been painted in decades. We were greeted like we were family. They wouldn't let us pay until we tried it. I have never had a better BBQ dinner. During the meal, they brought out some samples, delicious. Incredible food, wonderful hosts. Driving through Louisiana and found this gem. They are so proud of the delicious food they produce and with good reason. This is hands down the BEST bbq I have ever had in my life. Their motto is "no teeth required" and that is the honest truth. The ribs are tender and moist, the sausage was also moist and flavorful, and the brisket is also delicious. They have a sample platter so you can try everything. They gave us samples of the Mac and cheese, its creamy and cheesy and full of flavor. Wow! We stumbled upon this place on our way from Dallas to New Orleans. We live in Texas so we know good BBQ. This is it! You know how most bbq places have one great thing and the rest is somewhere on the good to not great scale? Not the case here! We had the sampler plates: beef ribs that literally fall off the bone, brisket so tender you can cut it with a plastic fork, YUMMY potato salad and beans. Saw Shank Cat' BBQ and was particularly interested their Yelp's overall 5-star rating (which is very difficult to achieve on Yelp). Folks, this was some of the best BBQ I've ever had as their Sampler plate was excellent with the meat being sooo tender (that is why they advertise "no teeth required"). Don't let the outside (the exit surroundings, their building) fool you--because on the inside you've got two great/hospitable gentlemen serving excellent food, and so much value for your money too! My son and I stopped by today on the way back to Dallas from New Orleans. We found this out-of-the-way joint on Yelp and decided to check it out. Upon driving up to this old house, we weren't sure if this was the right location. We were greeted by Bobo and some of his friends and proceeded to have a great BBQ lunch.
