The food was delicious and came out very quickly. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful, and the coleslaw was really good too. The BBQ sauce had a great flavor and paired perfectly with everything. The Texas toast was buttery and toasted just right, honestly better than the toast from a certain popular chicken restaurant. Stopped by for breakfast got there right at 11:00 and the sweetest waitress I have ever met confirmed we could still get breakfast. Great local BB Q lots of business. It smells so good. Wish I had tried the BBQ. Smoked ham breakfast with all the trimmings and side of short stack with great ice tea. The ham steak was so flavorful and scrambled eggs lite and fluffy. Comfy vibe inside, server Serenity was pretty aloof and asked us almost immediately if we knew what we wanted. Our servers were kind and attentive. Only 1 star because the kitchen can ruin your day. I had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork. I'm not actually sure it was much better than McDonald's which my daughters begged to visit. My wife had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich. We both were sick within less than an hour. The was a last minute effort but man am I happy that we made the effort! Coming back from the casino and we are hungry but it's late so our options are limited. We walk in and there is NO ONE there but they welcome us and tell us to sit wherever we want. I ask, not a busy night? And she responds "we close in 10 minutes, but y'all take yalls time". Well I feel like a heel but order we did. He got a sandwich which came on a jalapeño bun. It usually comes with fries but they allowed him to substitute it for beans - which he said were delicious. I got the three meat plate with the link, ribs and beef. I got the Mac and cheese (and I can admit that I'm a MC snob and this was on point) and Cole slaw (which reminded me of the chicken chain that I like). I also ordered a blackberry cobbler to go as we were trying to get out if these folks eat so they could go home. The sandwich was HUGE, like we ate half and took half home, the meats were delicious and when I got home and dug into the cobbler, I wish I had ordered two!!! Overall this was a great stop and I've already told folks that they should put this spot on their list when traveling through the area. We enjoyed the smoked ham sandwich (no toppings needed for the full flavor) which was another winner. Two can't miss sides were the cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Maria our server was friendly and gave us great food suggestions which we were all pleased with. Food came out all hot and fresh. Restaurant is one dining room with booths and tables in the middle. Families and groups were there in an open area with windows to the outside parking lot. Walls were donned with old Hollywood pictures and Texas items. This place is conveniently off the interstate. Ok, this was an accidental visit that was the best luck ever! All of the places we had planned on eating on our trip across Texas were closed so, I saw the road sign and took the exit. We were greeted warmly and offered to dine in and we requested it to go. We ordered catfish dinner and a BBQ combo. Indeed, it is a modest establishment with the best BBQ I've tried south of KC. Went here for breakfast with the family. When I walked in, the smokehouse smell was so good that I got a rib sandwich. Oh boy was it good. I enjoyed it so much that I talked about it all week and had cravings like crazy. Finally went back again a week later. Oh was it good. I can only speak to the pork rib platter but the meat was tender and juicy and had a great smoke flavor. The bones were a great size too. The Mac and cheese was also delish. The ball and chain had the chicken fried steak and he said it was very good. We had heard about the blackberry cobbler so we split one and it didn't disappoint.
