I got married at Shannon Community center over the weekend and the planning has been extremely stressful leading into the day of. Although I ended up having an amazing wedding at the end of the day, I want to highlight how stressful the planning process has been the moment we picked this place as our venue. First off, the city website redirecting to information about Shannon Community center is convoluted and sparse. They have an online reservation system that works on a "good day". The reservation system crashes constantly and is very limited in its capability and would require assistance from the park's coordinator. However, seeking for more information about this place with the park's coordinator is also a joke! The coordinator never picks up phone calls and only responds via emails that takes weeks to respond if not escalated. Within our email communication, the information provided is never helpful or direct. The emails with the coordinator mostly required us to have to engage in unnecessary back and forth correspondence in order to get information out of the coordinator. For example, when inquiring about how to use an off site caterer and the FAQs not giving step-by-step guidance for a daily permit with the Shannon community center reservation, instead of the coordinate helping us, she point blank told us to refer to the website (which was useless) and to contact the planning department instead since it was "outside of her job responsibilities to help". A second example is not giving us information upfront on what is available, included or excluded within the reservation as well as constantly backtracking on what is permitted versus not. When inquiring about the sound system within the center for our event, we were met with hostility even though the contract and reservation clearly indicating that sound system was included as part of the rental. It took over two days worth of back and forth emails just to get a user/operational manual on the sounding system for our DJ to prepare proper cords and equipment for our big day. And most notably... the park's coordinator is not professional-- in addition to avoiding phone calls, she would always be late to appointments or CANCEL appointments on us last minute. She is only professional when her boss is copied on emails or when we have to escalate the matter, which speaks volume to the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service skills at City of Dublin. What a SHAME that the constituents are funding the salaries of incompetent people that lacks passion for their job. Moral of story? Don't rent Shannon Community Center. You'll regret having paid 3-4 grand just to stress out and unhappy leading up to your hosted event. read more

I am very critical of parks in general when it comes to them being clean but this place is very well kept up from the ground up to the community center and then some. We had attended a wedding of a member of the family and it's the perfect venue to book for large size weddings of over 200 people. They had a kitchen in there too for cooking food. Overall the whole experience was enjoyable inside the community center for the wedding and it's very wheel chair friendly. read more

We made the reservation online & it went very smoothly. We had many questions & called the Shannon Park #. Kim patiently answered all our questions & was very helpful. The picnic table area & restrooms were clean but the 4 bbq grates contained leftover ashes. We had to clean them out before we could bbq. The rental cost for the hours of use was reasonable. As we set up the area, other park people wanted to use the tables. The only recommendation we have is to request the park to place a reservation sign up so we would not have to tell these people that the area is already reserved. The weather & area were perfect & we plan to utilize the space again!!! read more

this area is partly Shannon Park with a lot of greenery, some children's play area, and some benches to sit on. as with some land in the area, it isn't flat, not conducive for standard sports facilities. there's also the Community Center which is available for a fee for private events. it's not a dedicated place for community events. read more

**Review for the park** Highlights: - Walking distance from Boba Bliss if you want to pick up a yummy drink and are more comfortable enjoying it outside - Many shaded sitting spots (tables, benches, and even by the fountain) to enjoy said boba - Family friendly - great for kids to play on the play structure or run around the grass. Would also be a good place for hosting birthday parties or barbeques - Well-maintained restroom facilities - Also has great parking - Bonus: You may even spot a wedding at the community center behind the plants (I did once!) This local park is way more spacious than it looks just driving by. There's a whole back area with a little trail around many picnic tables under what looks like solar panels! Fancy. The mosaic-tiled fountain and modern art sculpture are also fancy. Overall a great place to visit. read more

Neighborhood park in Dublin off of San Ramon blvd. Good to have these little parks in the neighborhood. Met up with a couple of friends for a socially distanced lunch. Plenty of space to be spaced apart. A few people walking their dogs and a couple of parents with their kids. Still nice and sunny in California in January! read more

Attended a debutante celebration for my friend's 18 yr old daughter. The space is big for the event and you can get this place totally looking great ! My friend had this place looking elegant! You can have your event of your life from Weddings to birthdays or whatever you want to celebrate. This place has a lobby and outside is a park! There's a parking lot that can accommodate lots of vehicles! I would totally recommend this place! read more

Not the largest park in the area, but a very nice one. The grass here is lush green and thick. It's not a dog park in particular, but a lot of the locals come her to walk and play fetch with their dog. There's also a huge playground area for kids, with soft wood chips for safety. If you're really up for exploring, you can always check out what's flowing in the creek or just take a stroll under the bridge. Overall, it's just a cool park to kick it at. read more

We attended a wedding here and thought the venue was great. Depending on the amount of events happening at the same time, parking seemed to be limited as we had to find street parking, past a stop light, and walk through an intersection. Thank goodness my sweet hubby dropped me off at the door. The outdoor ceremony flanked the wooden doors, with the sun shining at our back which was beautiful lighting for a 5:30 ceremony. The bridal party entered through a surprise garden entrance behind the guest seating, which was a serene way for the bride to make her way to her groom. The reception was in their ball room, and comfortably held 200 guests at 10 top tables. With the right lighting and decor, it's a magical space! read more

We decorated an Indian Wedding Reception at the Shannon Community Center, and were vey impressed by the facility. The parking lot is great for any event, the long bridge before the entrance and the lobby area are great additions before walking into the grand ballroom. The outdoor patio area is also a plus! We set up about 30 tables, and it was a great fit without being over crowded. We went with a light color theme in champagnes, ivory and blush to make the room feel larger. Outside we set up an Indian Inspired Moroccan Lounge with low seating and tables as well as some banquet tables for additional guests which was a great touch. We did notice that several people at a nearby park or walking their dogs had access to the venue and walked right through the back patio. Also, you have to be very certain to get all items clean at the end of the night as the staff was quite strict about it. Even left over rose petals from the floor needed to be picked up. Overall, this would be a great venue for any event! read more

I've always wanted to check the community center out. Had the opportunity this past weekend when the kids had their karate tournament here. Noteworthy: Worthy for an event. Has a formal feel and it looks like it can accommodate a 300 person wedding. Venue has plenty of outside patio/walking space. Love the covered bridge. It makes for a grand entrance and also a nice place to hang. Because it's adjacent to a park there is a fountain and two sets of playgrounds. One playground for toddlers and one for everyone else. They have a nice walking track. Community center is also the site for a preschool. St Raymond's is literally across the street. Depending on the event I imagine that they share parking. read more

I'm from the NY area, and when my girlfriend (who's from the bay area) took me to Shannon Park I was at a loss for words as to how impeccably clean and neat the area was. The grass was freshly cut, plenty of shaded areas and it was very quiet. We layed out on a blanket with the bright blue sky above and I couldn't think of any other place I'd rather be at that moment. A very quaint and picturesque park to escape to and get some quiet time and possibly be creative if you're an artist. Thumbs up on Shannon Park! I hope to revisit some time soon. read more

There lack of communication with potential clients is ridiculous having to wait multiple dates to hear back from them and being on hold for 10+ minutes on the phone is not great customer service. This is a wonderful local facility for large events. We hold an annual dinner here every year, and the staff has been easy to work with and the facility is beautiful. The location is easy to access from both I580/I680 with plenty of parking. It's a bit of a walk for disabled, but it is complete ADA access. Check with staff ahead of time if you're going to be using the audio system, it can be tricky and difficult to hear at times if it's not set up correctly. We have often chosen to use our own system in place of what is provided by the facility. But keep this in mind if you're going to be using the system. Also check the water pressure in the bathroom sinks. This may seem like an odd comment, but we had a problem with one event. The pressure had been turned down earlier in the day, and no one had remembered to turn it back on for our event. Very impractical during cold and flu season especially. read more

I attended a wedding in the Shannon Community Center, and it was lovelier than I had expected. The area in towards the side of the building is great for an outdoor wedding, and there's even a bridge for the bridal party to cross as they're making their way toward the front of the space. It makes for a beautiful entrance, and looks great in pictures. They also have a fountain and another shaded bridge area for pictures. The venue itself is spacious, yet had an intimate feeling to it the way smaller venues do. I think the capacity is around 200 people. Although I'm not sure if the staff setting up and waiting on guests were affiliated with the Shannon Center, but nonetheless, they did a great job. I had my wedding here last year and it was amazing! The place is so large, the courtyard fit 117 people for the ceremony and the inside is so nicely redone. Looks like (can't be sure) marble 1/2 walls, wood for the other 1/2, new carpet, amazing light fixtures, great kitchen for caterers to use. Lighting adjustments can be made, plenty of bathrooms. Plenty of room for the full size dance floor offered, 14 72" round tables and long row of 6 rectangular tables. The staff was very helpful and punctual. Price was a bit steep, but worth it for so much room. read more

I have been here many times in the past 10 years. I have asked nicely before if I can nurse my baby in another room here. Without hesitation I was given a chair and a closed off room with no problems in the past(1 a year ago). I was here at another event recently with my 8 month old baby. I asked if I can use a room to nurse. The young man behind the counter said we don't let our renters go beyond any red velvet ropes. And that I should ask the waiting staff if I can use their little break room. But I would have to ask. I said I've never had a problem here before. He said well there are new owners here. Then he proceeded to tell me that he's not allowed to let anyone back there but he'll do it this one time. I declined, I was very uncomfortable. This is 2018 guys, get a nursing/pumping room. I'm pretty sure it's a law or something now. read more

The little kid structure is fine, but the big kid structure has a lot of drop offs and totally freaks me out! My son climbed through the little tunnel to go up to the drop-off areas and I couldn't chase after him fast enough. I about had a heart attack trying to get to him in time so he wouldn't fall over the edge. Ok, so he probably wouldn't have taken the leap over the edge, but you can never be too cautious with a 2 year old, can you? If you have the type of kid who is fine staying on only one structure at a park (mine totally isn't that way), then you'll be fine with a small kid using just the little structure. If your kid is adventurous, watch out.....the big structure I would say should be reserved for kids maybe 4 and up. read more

Shannon Park is a very nice park area. Its not the biggest around but its got a couple of play areas for the kids, a few BBQ areas spread amongst park, and plenty of shade trees to relax under on a warm summer day. It is normally not very packed but when there is an event going on in the community center there are plenty of people around but still not feeling crammed. There's a little fountain for the kids to play by as well as a little creek area for "exploring". Plenty of interesting trees or structures around that lead to nice backgrounds for pictures. Overall Shannon Park is a good relaxing hangout area to take the kids or a blanket and book. read more

You're in Dublin, It's HOT, you have hella kids, and you don't have a pool. What do you do? You come here. A waterfall, wading pool area, structure, sandbox, wall misters, grass picnic areas, and little trails to explore= a good time anytime. I take my little ones here frequently during the summer while i read on a blanket and they play the day away. Your children will be entertained for HOURS, I tell you. Be the good parent that you are and make a stop--or if you are not a parent, you can have crazy splash time and picnic time as well. read more

I advise not to schedule classes through the Dublin Rec guide. Their cancellation process is a mess. I have been pointed to many different people to get this cancellation that I submitted earlier this week resolved. And it is still not resolved. I don't plan on using their system again. read more

This is a nice and clean park with large grass area, kids' playground, water fountains, restroom and plenty of parking. However, I am in constant worry about safety of kids due to unleashed dogs running around. The park regulations do not allow no-leash dogs and there is Dougherty Hills Dog Park just 5 minutes away. It is unfortunate that locals do not follow the park regulations and treat it like a dog park. read more

I would like to share with of you my experience today in Shannon Community Center, I left my work early to go in there and sign up my kids for sports classes. I was there at 4:38pm and when I went to the window, I was told we can't sign up your kids because it is after 4:30pm!!! I told them but you are open till 5pm, they said yes we are open for questions ONLY between 4:30pm and 5 pm I said how come this is not posted on your website or anywhere and the answer I got " well it is a management decision to do so" How ridiculous is that?? We are open for business according to their hours of operations but they can't help anyone!!!! I asked for a supervisor and another person came repeated the same message and finally they gave me their director information if I need to complain These employees are city employees and they get their wages from our taxes however they can't provide services to Dublin residents "other than questions" between 4:30 pm and 5 pm which is clearly during their hours of operations. I am beyond frustrated from them. read more

This is a beautiful community center. A lot of the city programs are taught in the community center. The park is fenced off right now. My kids did have a good time here over the summer. I wonder what the plans are for the playground area? read more

My fam bam love this place in the summer when it's baking outside. There are many activities for the kids , both boys and girls. There is enough shade for our friends grandmother and the park is relatively clean. We did have our sunglasses stolen from out car one summer but we left our windows open so it was prolly some kids. Really out fault. Just lock up and we have not had a problem. read more

What a great place to hold an event. The main ballroom holds up to 200 people. The building is outstanding, love the big wooden doors inside the ballroom to the kitchen. The bridge leading to the building is awesome with a large tree growing over the top, large branches hovering over the bridge giving a great scenic view, wish I had my phone at the time for pics. The parking lot is close by and plenty of spaces to park. Playgrounds for the kids nearby but the only area I went to was the main ballroom. read more

As an event planner, I have to say this is one community center that would be a beautiful place to hold an event. Most community centers look too "municipal" for me...but this building, especially the interior of it, has pretty aesthetic touches that make it stand apart from other community centers. It has a great layout and color scheme for a wedding. read more

Water, sand, toddler play area, older kid play area, picnic benches, BBQ pits...and lots of wind. This park is fun on a hot day...the wind makes it so much better than sitting at home in air conditioning. The water feature here is made up of several pools of water with cascading waterfalls. Cute, but probably not the cleanest water...but kids don't care, right? The play structures are separated by a bridge (and the water). If you want to keep your kids out of the water, it's probably best to stay at the 'big kids' play area. The only thing I didn't like were the 'block steps' leading up to the play structures...my little ones couldn't handle it yet:) read more

Went here to day for a birthday party,and I was very impressed with the park. I t has a ton of open space for softball/baseball, soccer, tennis courts, and water/sand feature, and of course playground apparatus. Back when I lived in Dublin, this area was just a big empty space, and now it's full of fun things to do. It is popular, and you can't reserve picnic spots, so come early and get your spot (6am on a weekend in the summer). read more

Had a party here a few months ago party was wonderful, and the place was beautiful! Kids were able to go play outside and the community center was bog enough for everyone. It has a great lobby and the hall is great for 300 people. They have different table set ups to choose from depending on the type of party that you want. read more

I live right across the street and come here often when I walk my dogs. This place is always clean and well maintained. There are plenty of different areas to have a bbq or party, buy you might just want to get here early to reserve your space since it's first come first serve, and almost every weekend, there is at least one party in the park. There are 2 playground spaces for big kids and toddlers, along with a fountain the kids can play in, and a bathroom just a few feet away. read more
