It started out a little slow, which was alright because it was a Sunday and I'm used to 'gentle yoga' on Sundays, but then she really kicked it up and everyone broke a sweat without realizing it. It was a really good workout! The studio is wonderful: very wide open spaces, they had all the bolsters and blocks and mats available to use (plus mat cleaner, which was very much appreciated), so it was perfect to drop in as unprepared as we were. My favorite classes are the Yin class on Sundays and the vin yin classes, which are currently Monday and Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. The vin part is a vinyasa flow that can be somewhat challenging, but always modified to your skill level, and the yin is holding stretches for long periods of time and is very restorative. The space is so beautiful and they run infrared heaters during the cooler month which is especially nice when it's really cold outside. I had never committed to a yoga membership until I started at Shanti and hope they stay around for a very long time!

I bought an unlimited one month pass because I practice daily and am home for winter break from college. This is unfortunate because after my three terrible visits, I no longer ever want to step foot into this facility again. I was unfortunate enough to attend classes with Lynn and Chris. Lynn's classes were boring and redundant and even dangerous. At my first class with her, she asked around if anyone had any injuries, to which I have a stress fracture on my foot and several yogis had shoulder injuries. With this information she still made it a point to include intensive poses for one legged balance and shoulder stands. Why did she even ask if she wasn't going to change her class to fit our needs? I attended two classes with her in total, and every one of her classes are the same. Same poses, slightly different order. She also likes to spat out sanskrit without giving her students a clear indication as to what it could mean, which is just plain pretentious. Chris started off the class stating that in order to have a true practice, we must follow our flow the way we feel we should have it---that is, to form our unique practice. Whenever I diverged from whatever pose or sun salutation she wanted us to do and did my own variation for it, she would lash out and verbally draw attention to me (or other students who were also deviating), stating that I needed to do exactly as she said and not to "disrespect the sacred flow". I have had many, many more experienced instructors than her, and never had I had anyone do the exact same vinyasa nor force one onto their students. As far as hot yoga goes, Lynn doesn't even teach in a hot environment, and I would hardly call an 85 degree room "hot". If they want to advertise their yoga to be hot, it should be 100 degrees or hotter. The rooms are nicely decorated and painted for a soothing visual experience, however, the walls have sweat marks from students, and the floor in the "hot" room is carpeted which retains unpleasant odors. They offer complimentary hot tea, which is very nice, and their facility is tidy. Yogasource offers $1 mat and towel rentals. There is no indication that they sanitize their mats.

I was locked in a contract at my new gym with my whole family and it was too pricey to join another place too. Then all the covid junk happened and I stop going there. Later on tried PLNK Lagree Fitness for quite awhile which I loved, but an old back injury was causing me problems. I decided to give yoga another try, and I'm so glad I did! My inflammation in my lower back has improved in just a few weeks. They have a variety of classes. I think they're all at least a warm class set to 85-88. That sounds hot, but it's not bad at all. The hot classes are set to 105. Set up in the middle of the room to avoid the vents blowing on you if you're worried about the heat. You can always take a break or modify any moves. They encourage you to do what's right for your body. Whether that means skipping a move, resting in child's pose, or maybe doing a more advanced move. You'll find all levels of experience in the classes, but some classes are labeled for intermediate to advanced. Check class descriptions before signing up! All of the instructors I've had so far have been great. They're helpful, kind, and knowledgable if you have any questions. Their studio has a padded floor that helps with my joint pain, and a nice large window to let in natural light. They have blocks, straps, blankets, and bolsters to use if needed. They also have mats to borrow if you forget yours, but there might be a fee for those. I'm not sure about that since I haven't needed one. I've never been late to a class, but I know the instructor locks the door right before class starts. So, don't be late!! I appreciate this so the class isn't interrupted, but this also keeps our belongings safe and keeps people from wandering in since they don't have a front desk person anymore. They try to lock it within the minute of class starting to give people running late a chance, but I wouldn't cut it that close. Their app is easy to use to sign up for classes, and you can check-in on the app or on the screen in the studio. The instructors will sometimes check in people as they come in the door too. Class packs do expire if you go that route. They offer a new client special that's a great deal for one month unlimited that'll give you a chance to try all the classes. Lastly, they offer a free hot vinyasa community class on Saturdays. Download the app and check it out!

You will sweat until your entire body and hair is dripping because it's super hot and humid in the room. You will hear some calming music at more slow paced times in the class and loud pump up music during fast paced times in the class. You will be working so hard you will likely have to rest throughout the class. It's not easy and that's why I love it. You will feel like you conquered a difficult workout after this class. This class pushes you and I've noticed significant improvement in my flexibility and ability to hold several yoga poses. I also believe hot yoga has significantly helped my mental health. I can't worry about anything else in the world when I'm working so hard in this class. This studio is also very well kept and clean which I appreciate. Staff has always been nice and helpful as well.

Big Bend Yoga is basically a little house whose attached garage was remodeled to fit lots of bendy and trying to be bendy bodies. I've been both bendy and non bendy in the Center, depending upon how often I attended class. I've taken classes with nearly every instructor and though all their methods are different, I found all of them very calming and helpful. They are always eager to help you modify your poses due to injury and work around painful habits in order to free up your body. There is a massage room or two in the place, though I've never had any done here. Classes are $12, though you get a discount for buying a card.
