2 hour wait in the heat with seniors and small kiddos
    Brendan H.

Fun pool but not the best run operation I have seen. We've been coming to sunriver for 40 years and the pool has always been a favorite for our family. The last few years they have told us "Lifeguard shortages" make it so that they have to limit the number of people in which results in over 2 hours of waiting to get in at times. Maybe a suggestion would be to reserve spots as to not have to have elderly and little kids standing outside in the sun for hours and hours. I get that there is staffing issues everywhere but I don't see any "hiring lifeguards" efforts around town anywhere like most employers do when staff shortage.

This is such a great place for families. We are three generations spending as much time as we can at this Sunriver complex. My favorite is the Lazy River, my grands love the outdoor slides and the indoor water features. During the pandemic they started a reservation system. It's still happening, but if you're new to the area you may be disappointed to find out that you need pre approved passes. They currently have three two hour sessions. You must arrive an hour before to get a timed pass, along with your SHARQ pass. Only one person needs to wait in line for your entire group. Good luck getting entry into your favorite timeframe.

This place is perfect for families. The food is actually decent (for pool fare) and comes out quickly. The seating area is moderately large so we didn't have to wait long for seating. I love that they have both indoor and outdoor pools and kids areas. The pools are all heated but sometimes it's still a little cold when it's not super warm out. I wish there was a hot tub that kids could go in but I appreciate that they do have an adults only one. My kids really loved the little slide in the outdoor shallow play area (they weren't tall enough for the bigger slides). The lazy river can definitely get way too crowded but it was still very relaxing. The changing rooms were big and clean and nice. For sure a great place to vacation w kids.

Here on a family vacation for the holidays, there is no snow this year, so having this indoor pool to pass the time was great. We were the first in for the weekday rec swim time (2p-530p) and found into be clean and warm. The dreaded indoor chlorine smell wasn't bad either. As a bystander, there were ample loungers and benches around the pool to find a spot. The volley net and basketball hoop were up. A fun swirling whirlpool section was popular. The lap pool remained open for open swim, or to distance from the busy play and heavy splash areas once it got busier. The outdoor hot tub was running and steaming for those who wanted to be outside. A small slide for 48" and shorter was also a hot spot. Life jackets were available for free use, and lifeguards were actively patrolling the pools. Rec center also has meeting rooms, living room, café, and full locker rooms. Not to shabby!

And the Sunriver homeowners association is the most corrupt form of governing body on earth. I wouldn't recommend buying a house here because of them they are terrible and have surplus every year and never cut a check back to the homeowner and find random things to spend money on. They want even more money for a new recycling center, which got voted down and now they are making the current recycling center more difficult to use so it gets voted in eventually. Fire everyone who has any power and re do the entire organization it is sickening

Both of these lakes can be fished from shore or a boat. Sailboats are often found at these locations and make for some really stunning photos. Mikie communicated expectations well from the jump and got us to and from safely. Trevor was a great raft guide, clearly loves what he does, and as far as I could tell, does it well. Would row for him again for sure. Rode a raft with a family my partner and I didn't know, it was a good time all around. Will probably hit up another tour next summer for fun, was worth it. Tips? Kinda? You could easily hit this and another outing in one day. Set your timing right and you could ride and then raft, this is certainly a good time but it doesn't take long door to door. If you care about pics sit in the front. If you're worried about rowing, don't sit on the right for big eddy (the guide will likely seat folks for safety and row power anyhow). Not sure I need to say this but I will, there isn't a dry seat on the raft. The road to the spot is bumpy, sit toward the front if that bothers you. Well organized prep and pickup in Sunriver, in the main village behind the Sunriver Country Store. Our guide, Lanny was lovely and kept us safe while also ensuring our group ranging from ages 7-50 had a great time. Only real feedback has to do with the to/from transportation and driver sales pitch. School bus to the put in added a lot of extra time to the overall trip which made the short time on the river feel even shorter. And while Roberto our driver was lovely, the sales pitch for other trips that Sun Country offers prior to heading back to the main office felt very sales-y and drawn out. These guys can't help how the river and rapids are set up but they could be more efficient with time overall. My kids definitely had a blast and have been bitten by the whitewater rafting bug. Thanks to Lanny for a great time on the water!

The North Loop offers water and electric hookups, with sites that are more widely spaced than the others--something I really appreciate. That extra room makes it feel quieter and more private, and it's probably where we'll book our next stay. The Middle Loop has full hookups, while the South Loop is the busiest, featuring full hookups as well as some cabins. . There are many hiking/cycling trails (dog-friendly), and the Deschutes River runs through the campground. There is a short hike to a waterfall, and a large dog park. Unfortunately, we were a bit restricted in our outdoor activities because of the smoke from the two fires in the area. There was actually ash falling on one of the days. Also, there had been several sightings of a mountain lion in the area, so that added a bit of caution to our activities. Nevertheless, we will definitely come back.
