The selection of plants is so-so. We just moved here from the Lower Mainland. I'm used to much bigger garden centers. Worse, at the checkout, the staff were rude and disrespectful to an elderly woman in front of me who was having difficulty understanding the COVID-19 protocols. Even catty little remarks after she had passed through. I was disgusted. We have a new house here in Nanaimo with front and back yard to redesign. Unlikely I'll return to Green Thumb.

I found out the patio chair went on sale within the 30 day period and returned to the store to get my refund. They refused. I wanted to buy another one at sale price but they were sold out. I was helped from a young man named William over in the tool area, and honestly, he was excellent. Even though he mentioned he had only recently begun working there, you wouldn't have guessed it. He showed great respect, something I rarely encounter these days, and he took into account what I needed instead of pushing me forward quickly. I had gone inside seeking welding supplies, assuming I roughly knew what I was after. But William made the effort to pose questions and ensured I actually had the proper equipment for the job--he knew his stuff. It turns out, I was short on some things I hadn't considered, so he certainly saved me an additional trip or two. That standard of care and genuine customer service leaves a lasting impression. He didn't regard me like just another face in line. He confirmed I got all that I needed before I went. For years, I've been visiting Home Depot, and moments like these serve as a reminder what keeps me coming back. It's beyond just the supplies--you enjoy service and assistance from individuals who genuinely care. William, though a young guy, he is certainly a valuable member of the team.

The tellers are supper friendly and have always been able to get me someone to help load the heavy stuff. I also find that even when I have a big heavy order like concrete bags, they still have a smile and good conversations while loading my truck. I do not recall ever, where the store did not have what I wanted or a better replacement for what I needed and to be honest I do not in any way see how anyone could only give them a two star rating. These people work hard and have always had a smile for me and always tried their hardest to help in any way possible.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!…read more While I cannot speak for the sales staff, I would avoid the service department at all costs. In April 2026 I took my 2023 KTM Adventure for regular service. During servicing significant issues where discovered where coolant hoses and the thermostat were leaking fluid; a common issue in these motorcycles. Unfortunately, OEM parts were on backorder for months, and instead of advising me of available aftermarket options, the service manager told me the only parts available were cheap kits from Temu, which was factually untrue. This resulted in my bike sitting for a total of 58 days, instead of resolving this in a couple of weeks. In reality, they simply did not have a supplier for these parts but if I had ordered them myself they would have been able to fit them. Unfortunately I was given incorrect information which extended the service time. After releasing the bike to me I started to experience clutch issues. This is a known problem in these bikes when coolant leaks and enters the engine oil. Because the clutch assembly shares the oil with the engine, coolant can get into the clutch assembly and cause chemical degradation of the friction pads. After reporting these clutch issues and reporting the clutch slipping, VI Powersports released the bike back to me, charging me $100 without inspecting the clutch or addressing the issue at all. To date it has been over 90 days of dealing with the same, continuous issues. VI Powersports has made zero effort to work with me by not proactively communicating with me, and adding to the delays by not ordering parts right away, not properly diagnosing issues after well known and documented problems with this make and model, and not suggesting alternative solutions when the OEM parts were not available. I would not recommend VI Powersports to anybody, as dealing with their Service Department has been the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! If I could give zero stars I would.
